This is a family owned authentic Polish restaurant with really good food.
I've haven't been here in a little while and decided to stop in for lunch. As usual I ordered the Wazanki - yum! It's a potato pasta with cabbage, sausage, and seasonings.
This is a hearty meal and will probably keep me full through dinner.
On my way out I'll grab a few deserts. I love supporting local business with a good product and great customer service.
I'll be back soonHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Shhh...Longwood has a secret - and it involves homemade Polish food!
Polonia is a family owned and operated Polish restaurant. They pride themselves on many of their dishes being homemade which I think is what makes this place special. One interesting secret is that this restaurant used to be a Captain D's. The shell of the old fast food chain is still there and the décor inside is really plain, except for a few decorations up for Valentine's Day weekend. Don't let this simplicity fool you - the atmosphere and food is amazing (read on, my friends).
We felt like family as soon as we walked in the door as we were greeted by a woman who took care of us like we were her children. She quickly seated us and asked what we would like to drink. I was not disappointed with her recommendation of black currant Polish wine. She squealed when I said I liked the sample and brought more. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Polish beer, which he was happy to find out it was 16 ounces. The tables soon filled with families and couples and we were glad we arrived when we did (before 7pm). We're also not sure how the service was at the other tables because it was slammed the Friday night we went.
EVERYTHING sounded good on their menu, but we decided to go with the potato pancakes for an appetizer. These were some of the best potato pancakes I've ever had - crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They came with applesauce and sour cream on the side. We pretty much licked the plate clean! For entrees, my husband had the fresh kielbasa and pierogi while I had the pork cutlet, sautéed spinach, and beets. His pierogi were the stars with one kind filled with potato and the other filled with mushrooms and sauerkraut. AND caramelized onions on top...drool! My pork cutlet was delicious too and I was pleasantly surprised by the somewhat healthier side options - I love a colorful plate of food. Don't tell anyone, but we splurged on the chocolate cake for dessert and it was so worth it.
We can't keep talking about how much we liked the food and we're still trying to figure out why it took us so long to finally eat here. I guess it's better late than never!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

This is my second time here. It's kind of a hidden gem on a very busy road. My first reaction to polish food is that it's very similar to German food but the sausage is a different taste... They sell polish baked goods like breads which are fresh and amazing and cookies and tarts and walnut rolls.. They also sell things you can make at home.. The place inside is dim and quiet with very very very friendly staff. It's a bit outdated in the dining area but it kind of adds to the experience. The bread they serve you as a nibble plate as you wait for food is eggy soft and so delightful when you add butter to it, we ended up buying a loaf to take home.
Now to the food! If your on a diet well it's gonna be hard for you! This place is carbs city!!!
I'll score the food from 1-10, 10 being the highest.
Pierogi boiled stuffed with potatoes -9
Pierogi boiled stuffed with kraut- 9
Pierogi fried stuffed with potatoes -5
Cheese blintz- solid 10
Chicken dill pickle soup-7
Stuffed cabbage with tomatoes sauce-9
Wazanki-8
Veal cutlet- 7
Mashed potatoes as a side-10!!!!
Kluski noodles Asa side-8
Kielbasa-7
Coconut peach cheese cake-9
In my honest opinion the pierogies fried become to salty and they taste much better boiled they have less grease too.. The blintz cheese was amazing not to sweet just right!! The soup, was different I can't even explain the taste. The veal cutlet needs to be a little thicker for the price, the mashed potatoes are buttery savory and amazing. The kielbasa could of gotten a higher score cause my sister liked them a lot but I'm not a big fan of smoked meats. Now. The wazanki, this thing was very very good I have it a low score cause after eating more then halve you kinda want something else cause you are so much if it you kind of want something else in your pallet.. I think it should be a side dish not a main dish... But the beautiful bacon and slight pieces of meat they put in it omg it's good!!!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Started with the chicken pickle soup. Only thing missing was a ski slope near by. Wasn't sure if we would like it but it was a fun surprise. Not heavy and the infused bites of pickle gave it another dimension. We ordered the pierogies fried and added a side of applesauce. Mound of potato and cheese. Very good. The blintz was a beautiful plate. Finished with the coconut peach cheesecake. Slightly dense, not too sweet but super yummy

Initially it was hard to find. It appears the sign was taken out by hurricane Mathew. Once inside instantly greeted by a the deli. It's has a small seating area, about 50-60 seats.
We stopped in after the lunch rush on a Saturday. The waitress was very busy but took every opportunity to make sure all was good with our party.
The bread basket was excellent and I appreciate the fact the butter was room temperature so it wouldn't tear the bread.
Ordered 5 dishes. All were good. It was comfort food for me. Not grandma's, but surprised. The kraut was very good and paired great with fresh kielbasa. The borscht had a nice acid, dill taste so the sour cream fit well.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica S.Washington, DC25971Aug 15, 2016
We had a great dinner!
Food:
We all had the polish sampler.
Pierogi- cheese and and potato. Was cooked perfect not lacked a little flavor. (Needed smidge of salt)
Stuffed cabbage- w/ mushroom sauce- great serving size, however not exactly sure if it was beef or veal. Either way very good!
Polish sauerkraut- best I've ever had! Full of flavor!
Kielbasa- fresh: cooked perfectly! Topped with horseradish and mustard, yum!
Polish wine- it's a VERY sweet, I was unable to drink it.
OVERALL-the only authentic Polish outside of Chicago I have found!!
Atmosphere: a tad dated but VERY clean.
Service: our server was very sweet. There were only two servers, a pretty full house, and she did a good job!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Camellia O.Deltona, FL3345195Feb 20, 2016
I've been wanting to try Polonia for a while now. Today, my husband and I just happened to be in the area doing other things and when I looked for a place to eat it popped up on the Yelp map. We arrived around 5:00 and we were greeted and seated by our waitress, Mary Ann, right away. She was a really sweet older lady. Since this was our first time she explained the menu to us and also let us know the soup and pirogi flavors of the day. Today they had cheese and potato pirogies and also mushroom and sauerkraut pierogies.
We ordered the pierogi appetizer which we got for free with our Yelp check in and we got two cheese and potato pierogies and one mushroom sauerkraut one. We had the option of pan fried or boiled and we chose pan fried. For our entrees we both ordered the Polish platter, his with mushroom sauerkraut pierogies, smoked kielbasa, and tomato sauce on the cabbage roll, mine with potato cheese pierogies, fresh kielbasa, and tomato sauce on the cabbage roll.
While we waited we were given two pieces of a delicious bread. It was sweet and the texture was fluffy. So good. The pierogi appetizer arrived with sour cream on the side and we dug in (and forgot to take a picture). The potato cheese pierogi were perfect, you can't really go wrong with potato cheese. The mushroom sauerkraut weren't my favorite, but my husband loved them. Mushrooms aren't my thing. Our entrees came out pretty quickly as we had gotten there before the dinner rush. Though not long after we were seated and our orders put in a lot more people started coming in for dinner, so we just barely missed it.
I loved all of the items on the Polish platter. My pierogies were delish, the saurkraut was good and more mild than the normal sauerkraut you would put on a sausage, the cabbage roll was great and very filling, and my fresh kielbasa was really good though I might order the smoked next time. I tried a bite of my husbands and it was very flavorful. They were both very tasty though and I can't really pick a favorite. We ordered a piece of apple strudel and a piece of the coconut peach cheesecake to go and haven't had those yet. There is no way out stomachs could fit any more food right now.
There was a really rude guy there who was mean to our waitress which made me angry. He came in and wanted a table that was reserved for another couple and even had a reserved sign on it. When she explained it was really reserved for another couple he angrily said he would just eat somewhere else and walked out. So rude! Our waitress was such a sweetheart and I couldn't believe someone treated her like that.
All in all, we had a great experience (rude guy aside). The service was very friendly, the food was amazing, and we will definitely be going back.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Great Polish restaurant!
I grew up with my Polish grandmother making me kielbasa for breakfast and a myriad of other dishes for dinner from time to time. While Polonia won't be replacing her cooking any time soon, it's the best I've had since I was young!
I've been here with large groups and brought my fiancee her on our 4th date. Every time I get the Polish Trio combination platter :
* The keilbasa is always delicious, hot and very tasty
* The stuffed cabbage is something I never really enjoyed until I had it here. It's AMAZING! Definitely get it with the brown gravy is my suggestions, but... My fiancee was quite apprehensive about ordering it the first time as she's not a fan of cabbage. She actually enjoyed it, but didn't want the gravy as she's a mushroomaphobe.
* The perogis are done very well. Love the caramelized onions on them, such a delicious treat!
I've tried their cheese blintzes and they are quite tasty!
The wazanki is an interesting take on pasta that worked for me, but not for a friend I went with. I love pasta and this is a pretty heavy potato pasta with a great sauce & kielbasa in it. Friend didn't like the potato-ness of the pasta noodles, so I ate it all!
Had a great experience here when my fiancee and I went out on our fourth date. We ordered appetizers, entrees and the waitress convinced us to try a large slice of cake that she promised "was better than sex". Well, didn't think that'd be true, but it also wasn't better than your average Publix cake (to be fair, their cakes are far above average). Haven't tried other desserts there since, after the "famous" cake was so mehhhhh, but I usually order so much food here that desserts aren't even an option!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 17, 2018Updated review
Hello...it is with a heavy heart that I share Biscuits formerly Polonia has closed down permanently. I know it could not be due to quality of food. Thank you for the amazing experiences. My search for great Polish food starts again.

Apr 26, 2017Previous reviewPolonia is very much opened for business. They relocated a while back. This is the best polish food in Florida. We had the russian deviled eggs, perogies, saurkraut, sausage, and that addictive bread! The staff is amazing! Prices are great!

Wow! What a hidden gem in the area! My wife and I have become obsessed with this place and have eaten here 4-5 times in the past few weeks. This place has the best stuffed cabbage and pierogis I've ever had. And, the best part is, the food is all made in house to order. You can't beat that quality!
In addition to the restaurant, Polonia also has a small deli where they sell their homemade apple sauce, pastries, pierogis, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and more. They also bake their own challah bread as well as some other baked goods they keep in the deli.
All-in-all, this place is a must try if you are in the area and like tasty home cooked meals!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
