My mom took me to movement last year and I've been going ever since. It's great with bouldering and the sauna is amazing. I like that there are Pride flags in the place, it makes a person of LGBTQ+ feel more welcome. The staff are really nice! would REALLY recommend!

My partner and I took part in an intro class where we learned the basics of belaying and rock climbing. I definitely recommend!
I don't remember our instructors name but they were super helpful and knowledgeable in the subject. I was confident in my skills after the class was over.
After the class they let you keep climbing for as long as you'd like or they give you a pass to come back the same day (for free!)
The gym itself has lots to offer! There's a rock climbing area, gym (weights and machines), locker rooms, and a sauna! There may be more upstairs but I didn't make my way up there.
Parking: we did street parking and it was pretty inexpensive (I think it was $2/hour). I don't believe they have a parking lot so street parking will be your only option.
I highly recommend this gym!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pierre D.Vancouver, WA102422Nov 13, 2023
Veterans Day , Memorial Day, and Armed forces day don't matter to movement, but the Pride flags were in every corner of the gym during pride month, but not 1 American Flag was on display during these 3 American holidays. My 9 veteran friends and I are disgusted in this behavior. We won't be returning to Movement ever again. Completely dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism, and lack of respect for the ones who protect America's freedoms.

Great and elegant place where you can spend hours climbing without feeling bored or stranger. Everyone knows everyone. My kids had a blast last week climbing for the first time. Highly recommend it

This is a very beautiful and large climbing gym.
Came in with a day pass at $21 each, which isn't too bad at all compared to other climbing gyms I've gone to. This gym has a ton of top roping routes and they also have a lot of pretty good bouldering selections upstairs. The lifting weights portion of the gym here is also MASSIVE compared to all the other climbing gyms I've ever seen. I think it had at least 2 squat racks? The lifting weights portion of the gym I go to is half the size of what this place has, so that's really nice for all of you who enjoy climbing and lifting weights. I didn't get to try out the yoga, but there's yoga classes here too, which I'd love to try.
This place is thorough and you have to watch a video about bouldering basics and safety before you climb here for the first time. We got belay certified here too and the staff was very nice & informative. When top roping, they have grigris with auto-locking carabiners at every top rope, so you don't have to bring your own belay device. They also have a mini store here that has a lot of cool items like climbing shoes, climbing gear, and drinks you can buy.
We really enjoyed this place and wish we could've stayed longer to climb! If I lived in Portland, I imagine myself getting a membership at this spot.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jessie P.Northeast Portland, Portland, OR04Jul 9, 2023
The staff is kind, encouraging, and friendly. I love how frequently the routes are reset, and that there's always something new to challenge me within my climbing ability. There's so much to do: bouldering, lead climbing, top rope, a gym, yoga, HIIT, and a dry sauna. The bathrooms are clean and the showers run HOT. Your first climb is free! (Fill out the waivers and watch the video online before coming in)

I have done some boarding with my friends and finally decided to take a belay class. The instructor, Jasmine was super nice and clear. I got two weeks trial pack including renting gear for $28, which was a good deal, I tried my firs belaying with my friend, awkward, a bit scary but it was fun after all. Though, my legs and arms are so sore, it would be recommended to take follow up beginner class, so you can learn many tips to make climbing easier and effective. This class offer a month membership after you complete 4 weeks (once a week) class.
They have stretching area, some workout machines, set of weights, so you can warm up and cool down. Their locker room is very clean, there is a sauna, it's perfect after climbing.
Close to my house is a big plus, I also got another week deal from Groupon to try a little bit more, they offer other classes, yoga, Pilates, etc., also good for kids climbers as well (and I think they are fearless and much better than me...)
I don't know other climbing gym but I heard this is one of the best one in Portland. I like them a lot!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Estrella T.Las Cruces, NM1929365Nov 4, 2019Updated review
First time indoor rock climbing for me and my 6 year old and 11 year old. It was such a great place for our first time. The employees were really helpful, kind and treated us very well.
I took the belay instructional and my kids did a one on two training on rock climbing. I believe you have to be at least 13 to belay but they were able to put on the gear and both of my kids made it to the tops of their walls!
I was able to rock climb as well, and then I was the belayer for an employee while another instructed me. My hands were so tired, and it's definitely a great whole body workout.
So much fun and I can see how people are addicted to rock climbing! This will be our new stop every time we're in Portland!
I highly recommend this place! If you've ever been on the fence about trying it, go for it!!
