This location is eternally disappointing. The coffee never has flavor and is routinely cooler than a freshly drawn bath. The "food" is always horrid. The "bagel" that I purchased this morning was so wet that it had healed itself from the slicing in half it had experienced priorly. Even two toaster cycles was inadequate to induce crisping. And now I realize that the reason for that is because one side of the two slot toaster isn't working.
In short, I don't think it would be possible to find a place that is more indifferent to the quality of the product they sell.
The bright spot--the staff is generally nice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 4, 2016
If there's one thing you can count on at this PJs it's consistency. Consistently burnt coffee, consistently apathetic staff, consistently broken machinery, and consistently questionable pastries. Convenient for students who are cramming for exams in Howie T and have limited time to find a caffeine source.

This is an especially awesome PJ's if you are a student or staff because you can use the computers, print, and just hang out. It has a good amount to ambient noise, but not so loud you can't think. Many just come and go, or put headphones on. Lots of plugs for your electronics. Wifi signal is strong, but only available to Tulane students and staff.
And because this is on Tulane's campus, they got their power back quickly after Hurricane Isaac. -- Something to keep in mind the next time you need a place to squat after a blackout.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christina H.Starkville, MS023Jan 31, 2019
All happened within 10 seconds: Handed me the food bag, so I took it (bag and arm are still in the air) but asked if they could heat it up. "No we can't after we gave it out."

The thumb up comments above are by no means for 'PJ's coffee' here but Tulane library, which is awesome for its facilities without PJ already with no doubt.
Surely it's nice to have a small coffee station in a library but not sure PJs, who's good at having really-not-so-friendly staffs in all its in-building stations (one in Bschool), should be the choice--Not all staffs of course but one or two who deal with you a day is enough to ruin your mood.
Figure PJ's probably should work on employee satisfaction or employee training to make their employees happy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Leigh T.Irish Channel, New Orleans, LA150141Oct 11, 2015
Fast coffee, but don't waste $ on the baked goods (try Willow location instead).
I never bring food back, but I hurt my jaw trying to eat a scone from here. No lie! It must have been a week old. When I took it back for another one, the barista seemed to take it personally (not believing me until she failed to break it in half with her own hands). Then she tried handing me another brick. Come on! Got a muffin instead and it tastes 5 days old.
Step your pastry game up, PJ's! I'd rather you say you're out of food than you trying to play customers with "fresh" week-old food. :(
Ps- barista at 9 am on weekends is the sweetest.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chamberlaine B.Arlington, VA512317782Apr 27, 2013
I hate to be this kind of New Orleanian, but I just think that the chicory in PJ's coffee always taste burnt! Coffee,to me, should be smooth and rich, and PJ's never fails to disappoint on both fronts.
That being said, I must give credit to them for flavor creativity! The New Orleans themed "bananas foster", "pralines and cream" and "black and gold" are all wonderfully local and I'll admit I like them iced with milk.
Also, they have giant cookies for about a dollar. Worth it there.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bryan S.Martinez, GA463Feb 6, 2018
I work across the street from this place and I have just been so impressed with the staff! The coffee is delicious and always keeps me energetic but the staff is what makes this place so great! Its very busy with all the students stopping in between classes but everyone here goes out of their way to get your orders quickly and are always friendly! My favorite coffee shop!

Great for students and faculty @ Tulane it has Tulane wifi, printers, and desktops. Lots of study room and a really nice patio.
It is also considered a student lounge area by Tulane, staying open far past when the actual coffee shop closes. Again, ideal for students even after PJ's closes.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Allison V.Los Altos, CA03Jul 19, 2019
I was at Tulane for a couple of weeks for a summer program, and frequently went to PJ's for my daily dose of caffeine. There's more than one location on Tulane's campus, but I've had wonderful experiences at all of them! When it was colder and rainy during Barry, I got a hot latte, which was perfect, and when it was hotter (and it was hot the majority of the time) I got an iced latte - also perfect! On a whim, I bought a little lip balm from this location, and although I had doubts due to its cute size and design, it works great! Shoutout to Alex, one of the baristas at the PJ's inside the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library. I had class in there most mornings, and despite my pre-caffeine crabbiness, he was a great conversationalist and overall brightened up my mornings. Alex, if you're reading this, I hope your alarm successfully wakes you up next time! TL;DR: great coffee and great baristas, if I lived in New Orleans (which I hope I will in the future if I get into Tulane, fingers crossed!) I would def become a regular.
