I just looked at the website and it says the location is permanently closed! Is this true? Does anyone know if Clementina is cutting hair somewhere? We drive 40 min to this place because my kid loves her!

      A:

Clementina has just been hired to work at Sharkey's Cuts for Kids in Pleasanton, (not the one in San Ramon) 8/4/23

    • Q:

What comes with the 1st Haircut Package?

      A:

Hi Kathleen, The first haircut package comes with a certificate, in which we write the child's name and date of haircut. Then below we put a picture of the child that we had taken after the haircut was done. Thanks!

Our stylist was professional, gentle, and caring with my toddler boy. Given this was his first haircut at a salon, we had a positive experience with minimal crying as he got to sit in a fire truck and our stylist encouraged him to watch the dogs on the TV and took good care of him. Most toddlers will cry but there are enough distractions and a caring stylist to keep the kid occupied.

I also appreciate their COVID safety precautions. Temp checks, masks, and requiring using hand sanitizer to keep everyone safe.

Came here for my toddlers first haircut. He is just turning 2 and doesn't like having anything near his head, especially water. Our experience here was mixed. I like the end result, but I don't think I felt 100% comfortable with the way it went. I anticipated some tantrums but this was way more intense. Luckily we were the only ones there so there was no other children to add to the chaos. My son happily hopped into the fire truck and buckled in. But once his first hair was snipped he freaked out and started screaming. Clementina advised us to hold him down so she could cut quickly. I was not prepared for this, but soon caught on and did what I was told. I had to pin his arms down while my MIL held his head firmly. It was a long 10 minutes full of screaming, writhing around and fear. My son sobbed into my chest as I held him down. It was hard and traumatic (for me at least). But after it was all done, my son had a nice haircut (minus a few areas that were too short, but that can't be helped when he moved around so much). When I unbuckled him, he stood up and clapped and was proud of himself. He immediately went to the trains to play and was calm again. I'm glad he got over it quickly, and that his hair is finally not hanging over his eyes and ears. However, I don't think I want to go through this wild experience again.

      Pros:
      - quick and efficient haircut (done in 10 min)
      - place was clean and kid friendly without being over stimulating
      - first haircut certificate with picture and first snips of hair included as a memento

      Cons:
      - Clementina was not very kid friendly and didn't introduce herself or make my kid trust her from the get go
      - her method of having parents hold him down while he screamed was effective to get the job done, but made me feel bad and I don't feel comfortable doing it again

For a kids haircut salon, I don't feel like the stylist was particularly inviting to children. Her methods were quick and efficient but left me feeling bad. I wish I had been told ahead of time what I would need to do, because then I could be more prepared. Instead I was really thrown off, and between the chaos of his screaming and the scissors, I was really overwhelmed. I don't think I'll be coming back and will seek out calmer places/methods next time.

Extremely rude person working there. She should not treat customers this way. Bad attitude. We used to be regulars but will take business elsewhere and same with our friends and family. Clementina is the stylist. When we make appointments, we have to wait 15-20 min and once we were 5 min late, she cancelled our appointment and said she can't help us!

Extremely disappointing. First time customer. Needing to find a new children's hair salon. I let the woman know that I made an appointment with Clementina online. She wasn't warm or welcoming; She didn't introduce herself, ask if we had been there before, help my daughter feel comfortable in a new environment, etc. Nothing. (Makes me wonder: Do you even enjoy working with kids? Not getting that vibe...) NOT a good start.

She (Clementina) then told my almost 8yo, 4'3" daughter to have a seat in the little kid fire engine. (Huh?!?) My daughter looked at me with the same confusion and relayed that she preferred to sit in the big kid chair (not toddler type chair). I conveyed this and without hesitating, Clementina said, "No. I want her in the fire engine because it's easier for me to cut her hair." What? I literally said, "Okay but I don't think she's going to fit." Shocking to have a request or preference be so abruptly denied and especially when it's our FIRST visit and we have no prior relationship.

So, my sweet daughter (to her chagrin) climbed up into the tiny little fire engine only to definitely not fit and have her knees in her face. Ugghh. (Note: listen to your customers, please.) Clementina then proceeded to ask me what my daughter wanted and I conveyed that she was able to tell her what she wanted: A one inch trim and curtain bangs. Not complicated. Or so I thought.

Well, what we ended up with was more than one inch cut off, a very uneven cut and odd bangs. It was bad. And no braid or bow at the end. Not even completely dried hair. Just damp hair with a funky cut. Third and final strike. I (we) just wanted to get out of there. My daughter pulled it back in a ponytail and clipped her bangs the next day at school because she was so embarrassed. :(... There was no way that I was going to go back, so I took her to my stylist to correct it. (More money and even more hair cut off.) She was shocked at the cut and showed me how it was almost one large diagonal from one side to the next. The bangs were also not cut well and she fixed them.

MORE than disappointing. I would give less than a star but y'all know one is minimum. Suffice it to say, we will not return. Aaaand, to top it off, they send a follow up email the next day titled something to the effect of, 'Let us know how we did! If you aren't satisfied, we will make it right!' I emailed the above that day. Did I receive any response much less any effort to "make it right?" Nope.

Loved our Experience here! As a girl mom finding the perfect place to cut my daughters hair was very important to me. My daughter cried but the stylist worked with us. She had a lot of patience and even tried to speak Spanish to my daughter. As for the hair cut, my daughter is 1 1/2 so like many babies her hair fell out. She had short hair all around her head and Long hair in the center of her head, so I wanted the center part trimmed so it can match the rest of the new hair that came In. I explained to her that I didn't want a "Dora" hair cut haha I just wanted it to be even all around. She did an amazing Job. 10/10 my daughter looks so cute and we got the cutest keepsake!
already recommended and we are coming back for sure! Thank you Pigtails & CrewCuts!

Also side note, they checked all of our Temps and we all wore masks!

Great service! My toddler (20 months) was very tearful, but Cara did a great job - very quick and made it seem like a breeze!

This review is only the hairstylist Marilou. One word to describe her hair cutting skills is HORRIBLE. Avoid her at all times.

She messed up my kids hair big time. Its so bad that now I have to look for another hair stylist to fix it.

All I wanted a trim, no layers, no fancy stuff. She even messed that up. My kids hair is un-even throughout. She is terrible at cutting kids hair. And doesn't even have a sense of patience while working with the kids.

And what is the point of booking an appointment if you can't keep it. After having a booked appointment, we had to wait for another 20 minutes.

Never going back to her again.

My 4.5yo daughters 1st haircut today & we decided to drive all the way here so she can have a good experience at a kid salon setting. Marilou did not disappoint! My daughters hair is so cute & she even princess braided and added glitter. My daughter couldn't stop smiling. Will be coming back... also appreciate they are open on Sunday!
