Phillip Edwards Salon

Came here last month for a long overdue haircut & color. My mom has officially ripped me to shreds for box dying my hair so it was time to let the professionals handle it.

My sister made the appointment for me with Kate so I didn't know what to expect. When I got there the salon itself looks nice; clean & comfortable.

In my little experience with hair salons I have found one of two things: everyone is talking really loud as if they've known each other for years or its is more of a spa like experience.

This salon is a happy medium. The hair stylists are friendly, especially Kate. But there wasn't the annoying chatter that sounds like a high school locker room. I felt relaxed and welcomed.

Kate took her time making sure my hair was exactly how I wanted it to look. She mixed a color for me that was perfect. Brown (as I had requested) but still caught the light and reflected great warm tones. She asked me questions while cutting and allowed me to decide if I wanted to go shorter or if the length was fine. I really appreciated it.

She was also really friendly and funny which is nice when you are spending close to 3 hours with someone. Overall, super happy with my cut & color still. A new years resolution is to get more frequent cuts and even though this is a little out of the way being that it is in PB, I will definitely go back to Kate!

I used a Groupon for a haircut and conditioning treatment at Phillip Edwards and was not disappointed. When I arrived, I was asked if I would like a drink. I asked for a mimosa and the receptionist brought it out right away. Being a new client, my stylist Carolyn first sat me down and asked what cut I would prefer. She then did some cutting with my hair dry before shampooing and conditioning my hair. She then cut my hair wet, blew dry it and then did more cutting. Carolyn did a great job on my cut. She was very friendly and we had a good conversation throughout my cut.

The salon itself is smaller, and is one large room with only 2 sinks and maybe 6-8 chairs. Only street parking is available. Note: The chairs themselves don't have foot rests; the foot rests are attached to the wall in front of the chair, so you might have to scoot the chair up to reach (at least a shorty like me had to!).

Since my original stylist isn't cutting hair anymore, I will likely be back for my next cut to see Carolyn again. I am only giving the salon 4 stars for now to see how my hair grows out and what it will be like next time (price wise) without the Groupon. I will update this review after my next cut!

I'm a loyalist so it takes something special to get me to stray from the stylists I'm used to. I also pride myself on getting my hair cut or often even trimmed less than three times a year. I've always invested in great hair cuts and colors when I do.

I came to see Andrea at Phillip Edwards after my first five months living in San Diego. A friend recommended her and I was of course, skeptical. I was immediately relieved when I met her- kind, calm, confident, and a perfectionist, she was able to see where past stylists had turned my low-maintenance hair policy into reason for uneven layers and really, a big tangly mess!

We worked together to create a new, cleaner, more sustainable cut for my long, free-spirited hair. Andrea took her time and made sure every lock of mine was made anew. She is a true worker and throughout our process, we chatted a lot about how much she takes pride in her art and wants for her business to keep developing and evolving.

The salon itself is clean, comfortable and calm. I live in University Heights and of course there are stylists closer but I can't imagine there is another like Andrea who is professional but self-aware. Please visit her and see for yourself!

Came here because of reviews on yelp. I decided 2 days ago to get my hair done since I was visiting home for 4th of July weekend. A lot of places were already booked, but luckily I talked to Cheri and she offered to come in early so that she could do my hair! She was very friendly and let me know what she was doing to my hair while she was doing it. I told her I wanted to make my ombré a lot more subtle and natural and showed her a few pics. It came out really natural and pretty! Really glad she came in before opening store hours for me and I love how it came out!

This Yelp Review is long overdue. I have been coming to Philip Edwards for almost 3 years. I met the owner, Andrea Kruza, at an Easter party. She had a dog that was as cute as mine so we immediately connected.

As we were talking I told her that I just moved here from Portland and was looking for good hair stylist as I had not found one yet and I had been here almost a year at this point. Turns out Andrea is a phenomenal stylists. I immediately made an appointment with her on the spot and I have been coming back to her ever since.

The salon is not only high class but the service that Andrea provides is over the top. It is a very welcoming salon and is dog friendly. If you are looking for a new place, I highly recommend Andrea and the girls at Philip Edwards!

I spent many years trying to find the a hairstylist that could do both excellent hair color and cut then I found Andrea!! She has taken my hair from bad to fab which seemed impossible to me when I first came to her 6 mths ago.. You see.. I have had blond highlights forever which has taken its toll on my hair.. I still have highlights and with Andrea's expertise my hair has never looked healthier.,. I trust her so much I let her cut my hair short (5inches shorter) and the moment she finished I fell in love.. Hands-down the best cut and color I've ever had!!

Phillip Edwards combines amazing service with fantastic haircuts! I cannot compliment this place enough. After several failed attempts at finding a hair salon that can deal with my hair, I tried my luck with Phillip Edwards. I have very thick, wavy hair, and somehow the hairstylists at Phillip Edwards can give me a haircut that works even when I style it! I am so grateful for this lucky find because I will never have to search for another hairstylist or salon.

Matt actually looks at how my hair falls before he cuts it. He spends the extra time to dry and straighten it! All the while, he provides witty and entertaining conversations. The receptionists are so friendly and accommodating. They are more than willing to schedule appointments that work for my schedule. The entire staff is incredibly friendly!

One of my biggest issues with other salons is the fact that they attempt to sell you products without explaining what they are. At Phillip Edwards, the staff tells you what will work for your hair even of it is a product they don't carry. I found this incredibly respectable! Although they carry a great selection of products, they have also given me resources that I can use to find product they do not have. At one point, they were out of my conditioning treatment, so Matt made a special order for my NuNu pack!

Overall, Phillip Edwards has provided me with amazing service, great hair, and tools and tips that will help me keep my hair looking salon-styled fresh!

I found Phillip Edwards Salon by the groupon they were offering online. To be honest, I have gone to many different hairstylists and never have found one that I felt comfortable with or that really knew what I wanted. So I decided to give this groupon a shot, in hopes that maybe this would work out if not, it was a great deal. ($69 for haircut, shampoo, conditioning treatment, highlights and mimosa)

I am currently unable to drive so had a chauffeur aka my boyfriend take me out to Phillip Edward Salon. First things first, it's street parking and I believe it's only a 2 hour minimum, if I drove I would have had to move my car mid session, but that's honestly a minor detail.

My appointment was with Carolyn, right off the bat. She was honest and gave me her opinion which I loved. I want/need to hear the reality especially when it comes to my hair. I am one of those who has an a-line but have my moments where I want to grow my hair out and go back long but it's that awkward moment where your hair is right below your shoulders and there's not much to help it but to chop it to one length which I can't stand. Hence the fact on why I become all indecisive and can't make up my mind.

During the consultation, I decided to go back to my original A-Line haircut with highlights.

Salon- Clean, open, and great atmosphere. Loved the music

Stylist- Carolyn, She was great, knowledgeable and was easily able to talk to her. We enjoyed doing alot of similiar activities so at the end felt like I was just chatting with one of my girlfriends. Also met the owner, she was super nice and treated all her clients and customers well.

Shampoo/Conditioning Treatment- Perfect, got a head massage, also she kept asking how the temperature of the water was.

Color- It came out perfect. Even the boyfriend loved the color she gave me.I know next time we will go a tad bit lighter because my hair color to start is so dark so to allow for my color to stay and look good, she didn't go to light.

Haircut- I loved it, Since this was our first meeting, I'm sure she didn't want to make it too drastic of an A-Line and I wasn't so specific, but now that I know her style and since I decided I will go back and see her. Next time, I will request a more drastic a-line.

Upselling- They were not pushy at all, I learned alot and she recommended a few things for my specific hair type. I did end up buying a shampoo and conditioner, a color saver set which I would recommend, if your paying to get color done to your hair, why not help save the color with buying specific shampoo and conditioner.

Groupon or no groupon, I am coming back here and definetely referring Carolyn and this salon to my friends.

Katie V. did my hair this week and I love it so much!!! I'm a pretty a low maintenance person when it comes to my hair and I have never ever dyed it before, I am 27 years old. I wanted to try the balayage look and finally decided to go for it. I Katie did an amazing job!!! She highlighted my hair perfectly to compliment my natural colors and she did a great cut to top it off. She definitely knows what she's doing and made me feel really comfortable. Thanks!!

Last night I had an appointment with Cheri. I had the groupon deal for the haircut, partial and mimosa. When I first entered, I was immediately greeted by a stylist that was with her own client. She said someone would be out to help me in a minute. Someone came from the back immediately afterwards to check me in. I didn't have to wait long for Cheri to come out and take me to her station.

I have to give major props to Cheri for taking a leap of faith and trusting me that I wanted a big change. I had hair down to the middle of my back that was a mix of blonde with some lowlights and a lot of regrowth. I wanted it all chopped off and more blonde. Most stylists will try to talk you out of it (understandable, they don't want you pissed off or upset) but she was willing to work with me and I really appreciated that.

I now have a cute new A-line bob. In the back it's about a half inch longer than my hairline and angles from there, the longest layers in front being down to my collarbone. She asked my opinion every step of the way and did exactly what I asked her. And for the partial... HOLY BLONDE! Is it possible to be in love with your hair? Because I am. I got major compliments today as well which is always a good sign.

While I was there, I had to get some work done and she let me be as she foiled my hair so I could do my work. When I was finished she asked again if I would like the mimosa or some wine (she had asked previously, but I turned her down) and this time I said yes. We then began to talk a little and it was very pleasant (we actually had a lot in common in terms of how we have destroyed our hair in the past). I would also like to point out that the owner was in the salon and left Cheri by herself to cut my hair and close the salon. That speaks volumes about the trust the owner has in her stylist with the patrons as well the salon itself.

Overall, an amazing experience and I think I found a new stylist!
