Since 1967, Pepe's Mexican Restaurant has paid homage to the two things we love more than just about anything else: authentic Mexican cuisine and family. How do we do it? Through fresh, from-scratch Mexican favorites and welcoming, familiar interactions with our guests. All of that combined with our Old Mexico courtyard decor and feels-like-home vibe creates a unique dining experience that's bursting with flavor and all about togetherness. We're one big happy family, and we're so glad you're a part of it!

Well just came a site survey and discovering Englewood and heading out to this place before I do my errands had a craving for Pepe's. I've tried almost every Pepe's and they're not very consistent but I've heard about the swim in Chicago on this side on 63rd and decided to give it a try. Service was a bit slow in the beginning especially trying to hound the the server when trying to sit down the only bus was after I ordered my food and she was able to sit me down despite the long wait time was at least they delivered quickly the salsa and chips and the chicken taco since I didn't want to eat heavily. Ambiance is still behind in that 1980s Mexican drearyness. I usually go to the one in the south suburbs by Midlothian and by Tinley Park and that one is a bit a tentative with their service but since I was passing by here along the way I decided to give it a try it's three stars I can't give it more it wasn't bad in regards to the tacos but it wasn't the best tasting. This is a 1967 franchise and growing up watching their commercials on TV in Chicago. Although as a child I never tried it until I reached adulthood eating at a Pepe's restaurant and a lot has changed after 30 years. Need to improve on their ambiance since it's dated from the 1980's and they didn't try to change the style interior. Their service a little despite that the server delivered quickly by chicken dinner it took her a while to sit me down and to get my attention while I had the menu with me. Dessert was fried ice cream and it was OK. All they did was just put ice cream on top of a tortilla. Was expecting the whole tortilla to be covered and literally fried like some other Mexican restaurants nope just a bowl of tortilla treated like an ice cream cone or waffle cone and they put whip cream and chocolate syrup drizzle

I ordered online for Pepe's restaurant off of Kedzie on 63rd St in Chicago. You have to order online because when I called the number to order there was a prerecorded message and then it hung up. We got there at our pick-up time and the food wasn't ready. There was a sign that said do not park in the west lot, you will be towed. So I said excuse me to the lady at the take out window /counter. She was literally two feet from me. She ignored me and kept talking to someone in the kitchen. I said excuse me again and this time she turned to me. I asked her how long until our food would be ready because I thought I parked in the wrong lot. She said two minutes. After about five minutes, she packed our food up. There was a sign on the counter that said check your food before you leave, no exchanges or refunds. We ordered more than $77 dollars worth of food so I opened the bags and was checking the order when she came over and said I couldn't open the bag. I said the sign says to check your order. She said that was for regular custumers, not Uber drivers. No where did I say or have anything on me that said Uber. I brought my 88-year old mother with me and we were wearing normal clothes. There's nothing wrong with being an Uber driver but we are paying customers that don't deserve to get yelled at and told not to open our own food we payed for. I told her we're not Uber this is our food we payed for and she said, "Relax!" Too bad. The food was good but this was really bad customer service. I do not want to go back. There are plenty of other places that will treat you well to spend your money.

December 24th I picked up 5 tacos and some rice I ate one of the tacos as drove home and started to feel sick so I called the restaurant and told I wanted a refund the young lady on the phone told me all they could do was remake the food , I said no my stomach is hurting and I just want to return the four tacos keep the money for the one I ate , she told me no I said let me talk to a manager she hung up on me and threw the phone and told her co- workers she hung up me ..... I want the owner to call me because this isn't the way you do business so anyone going to this place they don't give refunds I'm calling the BBB to report this I'm not eating your food if it made me sick.

Pepe's is a Chicago original and is very popular in Chicago and I grew up in near Marquette Park where the Blues Brothers filmed the Nazi scene!
I enjoyed the taco's, chicken, enchilada's, burritos - all of it wonderful, and my Mom didn't cook so our whole family ate there often!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 19, 2017
I love their Half Off Long Island Tuesdays! Me and my boyfriend started coming sometime last year when I was craving a Mango Margarita and we wanted to go someplace close. We came on a Tuesday, found out about the Long Islands, and we continue to come for them. They are HUGE and potent. The food is ok. Helps to put something in your system with all that alcohol though. The bartender, is awesome (Hey Jose/Lechuga!). We've even made some nice friends who have made it a tradition to come on Tuesdays. So we don't go every week, but when we do, it's a Tuesday!
I gave this review one less star only because the food is ok. In a restaurant, that's what most people are looking for. We go for the friends, conversation, and the fact that, "sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name".Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hey, Robyn! I'm happy to know the Long Islands have always hit the spot! Thanks for making us one of your go-to spots on Tuesdays, and I look forward to having you back again soon.
All the best,

Arrived at the restaurant at 10:28pm, and was denied dine in service. Because they closed at 11pm and was offered to take an order to go. I just wanted to sit at the bar and have a drink, and was told that was also closed. I don't understand why hours are advertised to close at 11pm if they plan to start turning people away at 10pm. Very frustrated and will not be returning again to this establishment.

Oh WoW! My childhood fav mex american food. So much has changed since twenty plus years. Along with my taste buds. My wife is from cali, so i been telling her about pepes for the longest. Everything was up to par, service, drinks, apps, chef. The whole 9. This 5 star review im giving, is because, they had the most amazing jerk tacos i have had in a while. Such a mix of flavors, and the heat was not overpowering. I will be return...

I've been ordering carry out during the last few months and one of the places I've enjoyed the most is Pepe's on 63rd Street. The service is fast and friendly and their fajitas and quesadillas are excellent and so is the carne asada. Check it out!

I've been visiting this spot for over 20 years...I usually love this Pepe's but things are changing... The portions are getting smaller and the taste just isn't the same. I went in this weekend and ordered a Mar Y Tierra (skirt steak or grilled chicken with 4 Jumbo Butterfly Shrimp) and when I got my order I was bamboozled. There were 5 medium - large shrimp that were not butterflied. Of course they said they changed the shrimp but the menu should change too. I love shrimp and can usually tell the difference between Jumbo and regular shrimp so I was quite disappointed that I didn't get what was stated in the menu.
On another note: I'm sure I will still visit this spot but not as frequently as normal. It is a good spot for drinks and to bring the kids because they let u change the TV in the back. I'm just disappointed with the flavor going down hill.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
