Always good love the food and the service. I got the biscuits and gravy and that is always bomb.

If I could do a - I would
This absolutely breaks my heart to write this review my family has been coming here for years...
But ever since the restaurant changed ownerships it has slowly getting
worse and worse
Both with Service and Food, which is so sad
The last three times I've gone in there they've ran out of something whether it be potatoes rolls and then when they did have potatoes, they were absolutely horrible. I didn't know it was possible to mess up a baked potato so bad.
I've spoken to the owner several times in regards to items being out such as the rolls and so-and-so and her comment was I order when it's out it's out I've been in the service industry for most of my life and I can't even imagine telling a customer that no kind of empathy or apology simply just when they're out there out!!!
So sad to say that, not just myself but my whole family will never go back there againHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Don F.Peoria, AZ45016Mar 25, 2024Updated review
Wow. This used to be a pretty good place for a weekend breakfast. The Friday fish fry was awesome. I'm not sure what happened here, but the last half dozen trips to this place have been pretty brutal. The floors were filthy, tables need to be cleaned after we were seated and the bathrooms needed attention.
The food is still edible, but barely. The lady at the check stand was rude when I asked about contactless payment, erroneously claiming that it cost them too much.
The waitresses are not nearly as friendly as they used to be, and prices have gone through the roof. The fish dinner used to be $14, and now it's $20. We used to get the "all you can eat" as a to go order for about $22. Now it's $30 out the door. Sorry, the food and ambience is just not worth that.
And it would seem that they just discovered cinnamon rolls, as that's all they want to talk about and keep trying to force them on us. We ordered them one time and they were horrible - dry and crunchy.
We're done with this place. Caveat emptor.
Update to respond to Peoria Cafe's reply:
I understand that prices will not be the same 8 years later. But the prices are now out of our budget. Especially for food that doesn't meet our standards. And what I described (dirty floor, dirty tables, restroom needing attention) - it was definitely Peoria Cafe.
I guess it was a "good run" while it lasted.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

I hate to hear that you had a bad experience at Peoria cafe the way you’re describing it doesn’t sound like peoria cafe. I hate that you’re disappointed with pricing, we can’t keep our prices the same from 8 yrs ago was your last review. Hope you find a new breakfast place that will meet your budget.

My food was good no complaints on that. I was in a time crunch so I did not address this at the restaurant; however, I do feel it needs addressing. My receipt shows that I paid $6 for a side of fries. There was no price on the menu so I didn't know what to expect. The price one their online menu is $3.99. I looked at various items on the menu and guessed fried should be $3-4. I was SHOCKED to see $6.00. The only thing that was $6 that I could see were different meats. A salad was $5.49. Home fries I think were $3.99.
Sorry but I think you are not being fair to customers with this pricing.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Lisa W.Glendale, AZ0802Apr 19, 2024
Went there this evening fish was tiny pieces mostly batter and full of grease. This was always a favorite of mine but has really changed. Not sure if new owners

Welcome to Old Town Peoria. This spot has been here for decades and is still going strong. Located in a shopping center with quite a few businesses it's easily accessible from all directions. From the outside it doesn't look like much and it doesn't change much on the inside either. It's definitely your no frills old school breakfast spot. The menu is good size with some great options. From chicken fried steak to eggs Benedict they have it all. If you like the very basics there's the two egg and meat option. Make sure to try their biscuits and gravy because the biscuit alone will have you glad you did. It was so light and fluffy, great flavor and With three gravy on top it all just came together. I had eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast today as well and it was all pretty tasty. The bacon was crispy but not overdone while my eggs were cooked to my asking. The location is good size with booths and well as tables. If you come alone or don't want to wait they also have a bar to sit and enjoy. The location was clean. Service was ok, but took us a bit to get refills and had to ask someone for the check. All in all it was a solid stop and when in the area I'd come again.

So. Much. Food! Do not come here if you don't have a hearty appetite. I ordered the Denver omelette (pictured) and there two slices of toast not pictured. Staff were nice and kept our glasses full. The place is your typical mom and pop diner and the bathroom was clean. I'd recommend you come ready to leave full.

We'll down this to a 1 star considering the new owner has responded by calling us liars and leaving a fake review. Obviously cannot handle any form of criticism and instead of being concerned that bad food might have been served and attacks patrons instead, as noted in several replies to other bad reviews left by other patrons.

People that lie and leave fake reviews like you don’t deserve to eat at peoria cafe don’t come back
Apr 9, 2024Previous reviewWe've been coming here since 2008. We usually come couple times a month for breakfast. It's been one of our favorite places to eat.
Today however will likely be our last. The smell blasted us as soon as we sat in our booth. Sewer and ammonia. It was overwhelming. The ladies BR always had a funky smell but the whole dining area smelled bad enough that it was near eye watering.
We ordered our usual breakfast. Chk fried steak and eggs for me, croissant sandwich for hubby. We both got the home fries.
I wish I had taken a picture. About half the home fries on our plates were dark grayish, looked wet/slimy, smelled really weird and tasted worse. It was bad. We are glad we only ate one piece. With the way those things looked they were likely spoiled.
There was a group of young men behind us sitting in a booth near the bathroom where the daily specials are hung up and even they were complaining about their food. One of them was talking about how bad his pancakes were.
Hubby and I were pretty grossed out. We piled all the potatoes on to one plate so it wouldn't touch the other food. Hubby boxed up his sandwich. I did not finish my food and we left. - Susan O.Pleasanton, CA192218Sep 4, 2023
A good old-fashioned family restaurant. The scrambled eggs with diced ham was very good and came with a huge portion of crispy hash browns and toast. We were there on a busy Sunday but the service was excellent. They have a very large menu so there is something to please everyone.

My wife and I have been wanting to try this place out for some time. Noticing that they open early and close by 2 pm gave me the impression that they might have a smaller menu and do things well instead of doing a lot with mediocre results.
Well, this is not actually the case. Here's what I mean. They have a bowl grits for $7. That's quite a profit margin. For that price it better be damn good! Sadly, it was just the typical white grits boiled in water. No taste. I had to season it myself with butter and cheese, which now took it up to $8.50. It tasted a little better, but I shouldn't have to do this. If you boil grits in water, you don't know what the hell you're doing! Boil them in chicken stock, that'll take care of the seasoning. Add some thyme and some quality cheese, like Harvarti, and then you can charge $8.50.
Likely we will come back and try a few more things, but so far they're not off to a good.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
