This is such a great place for people who love to cook and bake! They have everything from arrowroot powder to bay leaves to Madagascar vanilla beans. It truly is a great place to scope out all the different kinds of spices. Also, it is walking distance from Westside Market which makes it the perfect pit stop once you are done there.

Penzeys Spices has a huge selection of both common and not easily found spices from around the world. Think cinnamon is just cinnamon? Nope, Penzeys has an entire section devoted to different types of cinnamon! They also have a large selection of Indian spices that we haven't been able to find in local grocery stores.

In addition to single spices, Penzeys also has an assortment of spice blends that promise to enhance your home cooking. They even have jars that allow you to smell all of the different spice blends.

The only downside here is that they don't sell pastes. We went in hoping to purchase curry paste and vanilla bean paste (they do have whole vanilla beans) but didn't find either.

It is a bit of an eye-opening experience walking into Penzeys and learning just how many types of cinnamon and curry powders that there are. I went there looking for nigella seeds to bake some naan bread, and they actually had them! I had never even heard of nigella seeds before they came up in my recipe and I admit that I was not expecting to find them at any shop in Cleveland, but I was wrong. The store is well organized so finding the spice or herb that you are looking for isn't hard despite all of the different options that they have. The trick is just deciding on what variation of the spice you want.

Penzeys also makes a number of their own spice rubs and blends that I am yet to try. That will be for another day!

If high quality goods and infectious smiles is your bliss, this place is heaven.

What I love most about Penzeys on W25th is the people who work there. Regardless of what you are looking for they have a suggestion for you, especially if you are overwhelmed by the fact there are so many different types of cinnamon to choose from... they will take the time to describe everything to you in an understandable way.

Beyond the amazing people, the spices are amazing. Everything I have tried has been the best spice I've ever had. The all elevate dishes in a way your stereotypical grocery brand fails to with ever dash.

Yes, they tend to be more pricey than your generic brand, but with their coupons and deals there is no reason to not give them a try. My last visit I got $25 worth of spices for $7 dollars. That's chili powder, garlic pieces, pepper, salad dressing mix and a speciality fish/veggie spice AND a really cute pin.

I highly recommend signing up for their email list because that's how they advertise their deals... they sometimes even give spices away... no purchase necessary.

What truly makes Penzeys a must go is their generosity. They work towards a happier tomorrow by partnering with amazing organizations and really promoting a sense of community.

I miss being able to walk around this store during this pandemic. It is the only place I want to buy my herbs and spices. Everything is fresh. Staff is amazingly helpful and friendly. Penzeys' chocolate is the best. If you like to cook or bake, and you want to step up your game, Penzeys has to be your next stop, when this virus thing is over.

5 stars then some this is a great place for all cooks a must . Located diagonal across the street from the west side Market they have every spice imaginable! I started buying spices here about a year ago and I'm gaining a big collection which make my foods taste wonderful, yes they cost more but buy a little at a time and you will see the difference in the taste of your foods . They have a lot of the flavors you find in other countries like the white pepper, Albanian Sage , Jamaican jerk seasoning, Rosemary, and Thyme just to name a few. So check it out and register your Email for specials where they give like a free bottle of seasoning for spending 5 dollars or more! Staff is wonderful will help you anyway they can ! Kudos Penzeys!!!!!

Some of my favorites that I cook with!

Penzeys spices just ruined my Christmas Eve. I opened the spices for a friend (she loves penzey spices and I was across the street last night) to see what spices were in the sampler pack and it had a largely worded pamphlet on top that said "good government". Wondering what could that possibly mean in a spice sample set I read it. It was political propaganda in a cooking set. She, nor I, agree with and when I tell
Her she will also never buy penzey again. But we didn't buy political merchandise. We bought spices to cook food for our loved one with a happy heart. I will be stopping payment on my credit card. These spices are useless and will go in the trash. I don't want to be upset each time I bake In my home, nor upset my friend. Keep your politics to yourself!

Im seriously upset that they have negatively effected my Christmas spirit.

Update. I literally woke up at 2am on Christmas night shaken and violated that such nazi like propaganda was sold to me without my knowledge when I purchased cooking products as Christmas gifts for my loved ones. Literally, literature telling me to "vow to vote for their candidate no matter who it was" and the jars were labeled with "revolution" and "justice" and the literature said "the shame that has been America". I am just absolutely shocked and scared that a company with nothing to do with politics and an aged and named company would slander our country and impose on unknowing customers.

What a wonderful place! I love love love their spices. The staff are friendly and helpful and I always leave a little happier than when I walked in. I love that they promote new spices with awesome deals and when you sign up for emails you get deals every week. I love this company and when you open my spice cabinet Penzey's is all you will see.

What's not to like about a store that sells any and all kinds of spices. This is a chain out of Wisconsin, but their spices are first rate and fresh. I love that you can purchase in various sizes according to your needs.

This store is in an old bank building so has
a lot of character. The smell of all the spices mingling in the air makes you want to loiter. The staff are always friendly and helpful. This is a must stop when visiting the nearby West Side Market.

Yes, it's a chain, but as many other Yelpers have mentioned, this location doesn't feel like one! No sir, it feels much more local-mom-n-pop than that.

I couldn't agree with Paulius N's review more. Sure I buy lots of spices at the stands in the market, but if I'm looking for something super-specific, fancy or exotic, I'm more likely to check out Penzey's.

Recently I stopped by to grab some mulling spices and holy cow--they had like 6 worldly varieties of every spice I asked for! I didn't even know I needed West Indies ground nutmeg, Madagascar vanilla beans or Vietnamese cinnamon. But I did!

You can load up on containers, big or small and lots of labels. But don't expect any more accessories/tools than that. No micro graters, no cheese cloth, nada. Just spices, spice mixes (which are amazing) and containers.

My next adventure is going to be in salts, for sure.
