Delicious Korean style Chinese food! This restaurant is so straight up. No fancy-schmancy menu options. No wow factor when you walk in. Not even reservations allowed unless it is a party greater than 10. Peking Gourmet is just straight good old Korean-Chinese food I remember eating as a teenager.
We came here for my husband's birthday last night. Hubbie is a very straight up guy lol. He doesn't care for fancy, or the latest food trends. What he does care for is some good food with the right portions to make him happy. And that's what Peking Gourmet did for him last night (and us!)
We really enjoyed our dinner here. Their dishes were delicious! We ordered:
Jja hang myun ~ had a couple bites, was so good!
Mongolian beef ~ delicious!
Honey walnut shrimp ~ SO good! Probably my favorite of the evening. So crispy and flavorful
Egg drop soup ~ daughter ordered it, but it was so good!
Definitely looking forward to coming again. It brings me back to my younger days of enjoying this type of food with my family.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 28, 2024
First time at this restaurant and thought the food was delicious. The kimchi that they served with the meal is mild and flavorful. The servers were friendly and the restaurant has a traditional Chinese decor that compliments the dishes they serve. The noodles were a bit long, so asking for scissors and small bowls to share might be a good idea. For those who don't like hot spicy, the dishes we ordered were not at all but flavorful.
Just note that they are closed on Tuesdays.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 26, 20241 check-in
Old school Chinese Korean joint with a plethora of tasty and well-priced options. Really great for groups (and sharing!!). The black bean noodle and spicy seafood noodle jjampong were both tasty and heavily seasoned. You can order these in 1/2 sizes too.
We also liked the kkampong sweet and spicy shrimp as well as the Mongolian beef. I wasn't as big a fan of the fried pork tangsuyeok or the fried mandu dish we sampled. Service was super fast and all of our food appeared on the lazy Susan in no time! Just a great reliable spot for Chinese Korean food/ come hungry (and get ready for a nap afterwards haha).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 5356704191Apr 9, 20241 check-in
Great dining experience. The interior is large, and clean. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Prices were very reasonable. Plenty of menu selection varying from typical Chinese menu offerings; veggies, seafood, chicken, beef, etc. Menu is very easy to read. Excellent spot for Chinese/Korean dine-in experience. Definitely recommend!

Came here for some noodles on New Year's day. Noodles for longevity, right!? Overall food was pretty good, but my favorite part was the kimchi.
Ordered two noodle dishes, the Jajangmyeon and the Jjamppong which are two Korean dishes I've had before, but not here. I will saw that these are two dishes that are somewhat nostalgic, since I've had them a good amount of times as a child. As with many dishes like that, there is a certain flavor I'm expecting. These two were not exactly that, but still pretty good in general.
The Jajangmyeon (black bean noodle) has that really savory (slightly sweet) black bean sauce with the chewy noodles. If you have never had this dish, the dark color might scare you off, but give it a try, the flavor is not as intimidating as the overall look is. There's chopped up onions, other vegetables and small pieces of beef inside. The overall flavor was there, but I think it just needed that flavor more concentrated.
The Jjamppong which is a spicy soup was comforting on a cold New Years morning. There's carrots, onions, zucchini, squid and shrimp in this one. It's not as spicy as it appears from the color and I'd actually enjoy it more if it had more spice. Along with that you get that "seafood" flavor, so if that's not your thing, be warned. I believe the noodles are the same type as in the Jajangmyeon.
This is a Chinese/Korean restaurant, as opposed to solely Korean, and they only give out one banchan, the kimchi. I was actually surprised that it was so good. It's sweeter in flavor than usual and of course has the slight spice and sour pickled flavor. Got several refills of this one.
It's a pretty basic designed place with lots of tables. There appeared to be many larger groups being accommodated for the holiday. Even though it was quite busy, service was quick and attentive.
If you are looking for some of the best kimchi, along with the entrees, try this place out.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Oct 24, 2023
One of the better Koreanized Mandarin restaurants in the area. Big portions for lunch and everything we've tried over the years every time we are in the area did not disappoint. I believe all their noodle dishes use house made hand pulled noodles (a culinary dying art form).
Extensive menu with bargain lunch specials considering quality, portion, and inflation. We love dthe black bean noodles and the Mongolian beef.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 2 - Feb 18, 20241 check-in
came for sunday lunch and it was fairly busy but we were able to be seated immediately. the ambiance is like any standard korean-chinese restaurant with red decor and round tables
~Food~
sweet and sour pork: 10/10!! the best dish we had here. the pork was so tender and the breading was so crispy. sauce was delicious too
spicy seafood noodle soup: 9/10 very delicious! i love the flavor and spice level. the only thing is that there is a lack of seafood- we only got a few pieces of squid and clams
green bean: 9/10 green beans are always a go! these were yummy but it was a bit bland. we added more seasoning and it was perfect
black bean noodles: 10/10 perfect noodles! the flavor was on point and there was plenty of meat and veggies. the noodles were also nice and chewy
~Service: super quick, ok friendliness
~Cost: $ very affordable for noodles
~Parking: limited parking at the plaza during lunch hoursHelpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 26, 2023
Naturally IG reel has brought me to this place. I am a fan of ChaChiang Mien and this place apparently does it well.
Food: You know the ChaChiang Mien is good when everyone orders at least one bowl at each table. At least that's what I noticed. The ChaChiang Mien is not loaded with MSG or heavy salt. It's not overly sweet like supermarket instant ones. That's not how it should taste like. The ingredients taste very natural. The flavor is not overwhelming. We also ordered the sweet and sour pork chop which is a must ! It's super crunchy and pork doesn't have strong pork taste. The sweet and sour sauce isn't over powering either. We ordered the Eggplant with Hot Garlic Sauce. It isn't spicy at but the garlic sauce pairs nicely with the eggplant. We are definitely coming back for other dishes !
Service: At the time we went, it wasn't too busy and there are constantly servants walking around. Bonus fact: some workers speak Chinese and Korean. That's pretty impressive.
Ambiance: If you grew up going to traditional Chinese restaurants, this is home run for you. The interior is a little dark and old school but that doesn't translate to dirty or messy. I felt comfortable eating and I have no complaints.
Overall, it was a good dinning experience!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Lily T.Santa Ana, CA3695334587Jan 14, 2024Updated review
Sorry, forgot to take photos!
Stopped by after church to celebrate a birthday. Chinese Korean food here never disappoints.
Jajangmein: their portions are large, noodles are chewy, and flavor is delicious.
Seafood noodle soup: I forgot what they called it but it's tasty and filled with octopus.
Fried mandu: oily yet crispy
Sweet & sour fried shrimp: tasted like "orange" chicken except it's with shrimp. We had sauce on the side to keep the shrimp crispy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 11, 2017Previous review4 stars for their ja jang myun (black bean Noodles). Texture of the noodles were amazing - soft yet firm enough to have a good bite. Flavor was good was wasn't amazing... I didn't fall in love.
As for their other foods... Can I say... Chinese fast food, anyone? Yes, they're know for having Korean Chinese food but man, it's just like fast Chinese take out except at a sit down place.
Crispy battered pork, chicken, and shrimp... All in a similar sweet sauce. Greasy as heck but gotta give them points of crispiness. Their Mongolian beef was soft and flavor wasnt too powerful. Tasted like a stock velveted beef dish. I approve haha.
