Lovely atmosphere, with fun servers, and delicious pizza! My first time having deep dish, and I don't think I could have picked a better place. The Spinach Pesto deep dish was absolutely amazing! A quick warning: call ahead, so you can minimize your wait!

I've been to Patxi's many times, but this was my first time coming back after a few years.
FLAVOR (4/5):
Matt Cain Deep Dish: The Matt Cain is still good and is my go-to pick. The crust is cooked well, but there's a little too much cheese in my opinion. And don't forget to ask for honey to put on the crust!
SERVICE (3.5/5):
Service was the weakest part of my dining experience. As other reviews have mentioned, service is not the best - although to be fair I believe they're short-staffed. There were some awkward moments where I was unsure if we were ever going to get our drinks or order. I guess if I was to put my finger on it, communication was lacking?
TAKEAWAYS:
If you want good deep dish pizza, Patxi's is the way to go. It's a little expensive, but I have yet to find a restaurant that serves better deep dish in the area. I would go on the weekends in the evening if you want a better ambience (I went at noon on a Tuesday and there weren't a lot of people).Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I never really had Chicago style deep dish pizza before so as we went on a walk me and the Mr. decided to have it for dinner. First impression was nice, staff was great with the customer service. We decided to eat outside and enjoy the fresh air. Love the fact that they are Covid friendly with outdoor dining and viewing the menu on your phone.
Ordered:
Appetizers
The famous spicy artichoke dip- came out super hot. Wasn't spicy at all in my opinion. Taste like a combination pizza with out the sauce. Wish bread was cut all the way threw or at least had a knife instead of just a butter knife which sort of torn the bread.. but hey still yummy.
Mixed green salad- yummy, served with balsamic dressing. The Mr. had a Caesar salad and just so you guys know they serve it with a full piece of an anchovy on top. Just in case you guys are not a fan ask without.
It made a couple of pieces of the lettuce it was sitting in really fishy... he didn't eat the anchovy BTW
Entree:
Old Chicago Special Pizza - now let me tell you I LOVE PIZZA. The Crust is my favorite thing. I wasn't a fan of the deep dish just because it took away what I love. The best way to describe is that it's not a bread crust but more of a biscuit style crust. The flavors were good. Definitely have to eat with a fork and knife instead of with your hands because if you pick it up everything will fall out. Pizza could have been hotter to me, not sure if waiter got a little busy and it sat for a few but it for sure wasn't as close in temperature as the appetizer we got.
I will be back but with try the regular Pizza next time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1Business owner information

I already love Italian food, and this restaurant tops my list of Italian favorites for sure! Let me explain why; here's what I ordered (takeout):
- Patxi's Meatballs ($10) -- a pie-like crust, with meatballs and spaghetti sauce. This is as far as I could tell, but having never had deep dish, I don't have much comparison for this otherwise interesting dish.
Would hands down reorder. Crust was surprisingly still crunchy by the time I got the dish, and the ratio between meat, sauce, and crust was pretty spot on! I was afraid the sauce would be too much, but I'm glad I gave it a spin -- had plenty of meatballs to accompany the sauce to the end.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My husband has always talked about his experiences eating at Patxi's Pizza while growing up in the Bay Area so we decided to give them a try.
We had to order takeout due to government lockdowns which, unfortunately, arrived cold. We would have much preferred to dine-in and I'm sure we would have enjoyed the food more in that scenario.
Our garlic bread wasn't warm at all and didn't have much garlic flavor. That said, their sauce was very good.
Our mixed greens salad arrived without croutons which was a bummer. The garlic vinaigrette was good - it tasted like it was made from scratch.
We chose the Build Your Own Pizza option and went with the 10". This is PLENTY of food for two people. Even my husband was full and he's really equivalent to two people in terms of how much he eats.
The ingredients were fresh, the sauce was yummy and I really liked their pepperoni. The pizza arrived lukewarm and even after warming in the oven never got hot enough. The crust didn't do it for me. This was my first time having Chicago deep dish and I didn't care for the thinness/doughiness of the crust.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Having previously lived in Chicago, where I feasted on the real deal OG deep dish, I was not optimistic that I would find somewhere in the Bay Area that could compare. I'm happy to say that Patxi's proved me wrong. While nothing can compare to the deep dish in Chicago, Patxi's is as close as I've tasted.
My wife and I went for an early dinner and were seated immediately. We chose to eat outside--the outside dining area is nice and well kept. Through our whole experience, the waiter was very attentive and professional.
We started out with some Patxi's meatballs. These were great and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a starter. They are served in a pool of sauce inside of a cornbread (I think) crust. The meatballs tasted great.
For our pizza, we got the 10" Matt Cain deep dish. Like I said before, it almost rivaled the deep dish we used to have in Chicago. Served piping hot, the cheese all melty, filled with great meats. I have no complaints. Along with the starter, it was plenty of food for us.
For anyone looking for a real deep dish experience in the Bay, Patxi's is a sure bet.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 68162369Jul 4, 2021
Stopped here for dinner, we're from out of town visiting and we ordered a deep dish pizza. It was pretty good, my boyfriend is huge on pizza and rated it a 8/10. We also got the Buffalo wings and a Cesar salad. The dressing for the salad was unfortunately not enough. They also ran out of plates and napkins but gave us extra boxes to use as our plates lol. We appreciated the efforts with what they had. The food was decent. Prices were a little high but it's not terrible. I'd like to dine in, maybe another time. Thanks for quick warm meal for tonight. Cheers

Patxi's has a huge menu with a variety of appetizers and pizzas, both thin and thick. I ordered the margarita pizza, pesto spinach deep dish with garlic fennel sausage, a classic caesar salad and a DELICIOUS serving of meatballs served in a. bread bowl.
Fun Fact: Patxi's used to be one of my favorite spots growing up! it was a treat to go here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

We went here A random friday night for outdoor dinning. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip and calzones which were good. Although, I was not a fan of the reg pizzas here. Was not a fan of the sauce or the cheese. We didn't get a chance to try the deep dish so I'm going to give this place one more shot when I'm back for the deep dish in the future.

The pizza is good. Been here a few times and recently got take out during Covid. We like that they have vegetarian and vegan options and you can order a split pizza option to have two different flavors. They put little pieces of the ingredients on the top so you can tell which side is which.
Definitely call ahead to place your order so you don't have to wait! It can take a pretty long and sometimes has delays.
Next time we will try the cornmeal crust if we go back. My family prefers Blue Line or Zachary's pizza more. I don't think I have very strong feelings either way , they all taste fine... I've had deep dish in Chicago and I honestly feel like the ones in the bay area are pretty comparable.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

If you are still on edge about eating out, consider getting a half-baked deep dish pie from Patxi's; you can enjoy a wonderful indulgence hot from the oven in your own home!
We were craving Patxi's amazing Pesto Deep Dish on Friday evening and so we put in an online order for takeout. The wait time was 45 minutes, which is how much time the deep dish needs to prep and par cook. We went for a nice walk in the neighborhood and then drove up to the restaurant; there are two ten minute curbside spaces in front of the theatre across the street and there is also a small surface lot there. Despite a bit of hustle and bustle at the ice cream shop down the street, there were no crowds here. I walked in the restaurant and walked out less than 30 seconds later with my pizza. The cashier was very friendly, and the store is set up well to avoid crowds.
At home, I heated our oven to 450, baked for about 20 minutes, and then enjoyed a piping hot pizza with a crispy crust, savory tomato sauce, and well-seasoned pesto with an insane but epic amount of cheese. This is definitely a great treat if you're looking for a meal out, but at home!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
