Service has become hit & miss. I get it, but this time we had Thune who was very friendly, if stretched very thin.
We did watch three employees clean one table (points for teamwork) while we sat around and waited for our server.
I fear my Moscow Mule was just lime juice and water, but otherwise, we had a good visit. One standout was the wings. They are definitely spicy, made with a Bloody Mary sauce. They are remarkably light, and that made them perfect for the start of our eveningHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 8, 2022Previous reviewWe stop in to Pats every time we visit San Antonio. Currently, the menu has been scaled way back, and some of our favorite items are not available. That said the blackened chicken nachos they came with red beans rather than "refried beans" we're delightfully flavorful and something completely different.
This visit was on a cold and drizzly day so the patio was mostly closed off, and we were sitting in the bar. It compares to the old Main bar in New Orleans in many ways including decor. Of course, the drinks are what they usually are in New Orleans, although my first bloody Mary came out way way too strong. I think the young lady who made it had never done so prior.
There was no live music due to the weather this day, and that is why I'd call one of our favorite aspects of the San Antonio location. Unfortunately, Mother Nature is who she is and there's no fault directed at the establishment for her nonsense. - Jenna S.Central Business District, New Orleans, LA01Apr 6, 2024
Piano players were awesome. We had the best time Saturday afternoon into the evening.

I'd probably avoid this place as it is the worst of the three locations. At one point there was a dance floor on the second story with two sections however likely closed due to Covid. Covid came and went and that scene is a casualty. Happy hour is also a thing of the past and they stopped serving food during the week per the server. They should just stop serving alcohol and vacate the property.

Hey Alex! I’m so sorry you didn’t get the experience you were hoping for at Pat Os on your recent visit. I would like to address some of your concerns. Yes, Covid has come and went but unfortunately many businesses in downtown cities across the US, especially those dependent on convention business, are still reeling from COVID’s wrath. But regardless of the lack of consistent traffic during the week,, we still offer live music every night of the week on our patio from 8-12. The main bar, with the dance floor you spoke of, and the piano lounge are open on Friday and Saturdays and fortunately we still have some loyal locals that come out and support us and our amazing staff, many of whom have been with us for nearly 20 years. As for the kitchen, we pride ourselves on serving quality, made from scratch food, and want to insure freshness and reduce waste and expense by only opening when we know we have a consistent crowd.
As for your suggestion to vacate the property, I have nearly 40 employees that continue to depend on Pat Os to provide for themselves and their families and I am honored that they have stayed at Pat Os even during this downward trend. As a result, I will continue to fight daily to insure Pat Os is here for as long as it can, so we can continue to serve the guests that understand the dedication, devotion and fortitude it takes to run a business. I hope that you can return soon Alex, to meet and talk to some of the staff that are committed to doing just that. - 24958107May 21, 2023
Pat O'Briens is very much a tourist trap. For being a New Orlean/ Cajun restaurant there was no flavor in any of the food that we ordered. The drinks were incredibly sweet and tasted like cough syrup. The staff and the outdoor seating was really the only positive part about this location.
Do yourself a favor and venture out from the tourist traps and enjoy some real San Antonio food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 21, 2022
This bar is located across the street from the Alamo. Visited for drinks. Drinks and prices were decent. The bar staff was great. This is clearly a place where locals drink and socialize. I did not get a chance to try the menu, but I will next time.

Came in looking for crawfish nachos. Waitress said they took it away since COVID. Sucks it was really good. I won't be back. At least until owner brings back crawfish nachos. Oh and no happy hour.

The bartender was pouring excellent drinks and the live entertainment didn't disappoint. He even let someone get on stage and borrow his guitar and sing! When you are in San Antonio on the riverwalk you always need to make sure you stop at least once at Pat O's!

There's just something romantic about being in Pat O'Briens. Always loved the New Orleans location and the San Antonio location didn't disappoint. We sat facing the live band on the indoor of the bar and were quickly served by our friendly server Vanessa. We had the Hurricane and Cyclone which are both famous cocktails, and both were large, sugary, and enjoyable cocktails; each drink is basically two drinks--be warned.
We ordered the jambalaya and chicken nachos and honestly both were better than expected for a touristy Riverwalk restaurant. The jambalaya was saucy and flavorful, with excellent Andouille Sausage. The nachos were way better than anticipated since the cheese sauce kept them from being dry, with plentiful blackened chicken and excellent jalapeños.
The band was lovely and lively, and featured that classic soul and feeling you expect from New Orleans.
We the ventured to the piano bar which is another awesome, classic vibe.....they also have a club upstairs too!
Can't go wrong with Pat O'Briens!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
