Parlor Market is a gem in the otherwise sparse downtown Jackson. Bartenders concocted creative, delicious cocktails, including an Arnold Palmer-esque drink using their own sweet tea-infused vodka. The burger I had was good-very good- but the duck gumbo was fantastic. The gumbo was a great substitute for what I thought I was going there to get: the lobster bisque. I think they need to update their online menu, but otherwise, this is the place to be in Jackson.

Located in the downtown area of Jackson MS, Parlor Market looks at first glance like a well-appointed gentleman's club: good-looking parking valet opening the door, dark wood paneling, long brass bar, over-stuffed leather and low wattage mood lighting. But it is far from the good ole' boys' hangout it appears to be...it's a hipster foodie haven. The menu was inventive, and our incredibly sweet, incredibly stylish server had royal blue hair, spoke English with a southern accent and Spanish with an Ecuadorean accent.
Aside from the slickly cosmopolitan atmosphere, waitstaff and clientele, the food was stellar. My other half and I split the redfish (a local Mississippi favorite) and black grouper entrees. Both were great in the sauce and cooked to perfection. But for me the real star of the show was the zucchini straws. They're sort of zucchini cut the whole length of the zucchini, breaded, flash fried and then served staked like a log cabin. I literally would have eaten two more orders by myself.
The parking was easy and the place was not crowded even on a Saturday night. The prices were very reasonable given the quality of the food (less than $45 per head including wine, tax and tip). Definitely I would recommend this place.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 23, 2019
Parlor Market is awesome! I loved everything about my visit to this restaurant. Every interaction with the staff was great, the drinks and food are delicious, and the atmosphere is just perfect!
I was visiting the area for work, and I decided to take a stroll around the blocks surrounding my hotel before deciding on a spot for dinner. I had been hearing great things about Parlor Market, but I still wanted to see what was around me. As I walked by the host at the outside of the front door said hello to me, I mentioned to him that I had been hearing great things, and he welcomed me inside for a drink and/or a bite. I told him I may be a bit underdressed (I was wearing yoga capris and a t-shirt - I had had a long day at work and it was 95+ degrees that day, plus I was going to walk), he assured me I wasn't and that all are welcome. I told him I was going to walk for a bit and he very politely, with a huge smile, told me to stay cool and he hoped he'd be seeing me back. He was perfectly friendly and really made me want to come back and check it out. After walking around a bit I had decided, Parlor Market was the spot for dinner that night!
The host warmly greeted me back to the restaurant, politely waited for me to do my Yelper thing and snap a couple of photos outside, and then showed me inside where I was greeted by a nice young hostess. She offered me options for seating, and I chose the bar, as I was dining alone. The bartender almost immediately offered me water and menus. This place was really on their A game!
I opted for a Blueberry Gimlet, which was made with local Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka. Not only was the cocktail beautiful, it was also delicious! I would definitely order it again.
The bartender told me about the specials and I discussed a couple of the options with him. I chose a Lemon Mascarpone Gnocchi dish that was perfect. It was served so hot and fresh, and it was so creamy and delicious. The bartender and I joked a bit about my decision, as he had told me something else on the menu that night was his favorite, but after he came back to check in with me I told him I believed I had made the right choice.
When I visit the area again I will definitely return to Parlor Market. And if you're in the area I highly suggest you check it out!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tony N.Leesburg, GA572108881Jun 26, 2019
Went to the Parlor market at 8:45 pm and they don't close until 9:30...they said the kitchen was closed...kind of rude actually...we were really looking forward to eating here and I had been building it up to my sales team all week...we are obviously all from out of town and don't have another opportunity to come back...little do they know I have a Foodie Friends blog with over 50,000 followers...check it out on Instagram @tony.natoli
I will never come back to this place and recommend you don't either...go a bit up the road to The Manship Wood Fired Grill...they are much nicer and have a lot more options...too bad because the Parlor Market used to be a great place to go...it's a real damn shame!!!...booooooooo!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 25, 2017
Restaurant located in downtown Jackson.
I was surprised by how much of a ghost town Downtown Jackson was. I was lucky to find this restaurant which was on a street with a lot closed down businesses.
The restaurant was intimate and nicely decorated. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive.
I had the tuna and scallops with a carrot purée. It was absolutely delicious.
I will be back the next time I'm in Jackson.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sep 15, 2018
I've been wanting to try Parlor Market for a while now, but hadn't because one of my friends said I wouldn't get out for under 150. That is false. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We had a late reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival.
Our waiter was very friendly and quick to check on us. We got the meatballs for an appetizer. I loved them and never would have thought of presenting them on a bed of grits. It was a great combination. For my entree I went with the waiters recommendation of the lamb porterhouse. It was a nice cut of meat with an excellent flavor. It was a nice portion and I was stuffed after eating it. I do want to point or that the check the menu price on Yelp is not accurate and that mine was 6 dollars less than it says that entree cost. We were too full for desert after our meals, but the table next to us had a cobbler that looked amazing.
I would definitely go back to Parlor Market for dinner. I would have to put it up there as one of my favorite meals in Jackson.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Nov 4, 2018
Best soft shell crab dish I've ever had! I love soft shell crab and have had it at a lot of different places, but this one really set itself apart. It's not cheap at $18, but it's fresh (not frozen) and you can tell. Most soft shell crab comes out frozen, but you lose all the juices and flavor once it's frozen. The sauce they put on it was delicious, and the batter was heavenly. The batter was so good that I had to come back to try the fried chicken the next day for lunch (and it was a 15 min walk from my work!). The fried chicken was good too, but the soft shell crab is something I'm going to remember forever, and will be the most memorable thing about Jackson MS when I came to this city for work.

I really like this place. Walked in on a Thursday night, they were busy! Sat at the bar and watched Vincent do his magic dance.... ordered portico and oysters, they were good! Decided to try grilled octopus-it was delicious too!
And that is no small task for a restaurant in Mississippi. Trust me on this one, I tasted Octopus in Spain and Greece. I even thought that he might infuse it with some okra, but I was wrong....oh well, perhaps a thought for something else. Chef experiments a lot with his food selections. Thank you, parlor for making my experience a memorable one!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 28, 2018
There are those who do everything with extraordinary effort, great attention to detail and perfectionist standards, whether making a paper airplane, repairing a fence or researching a car purchase, not because someone is evaluating them or the stakes are high, but rather because that is just how they roll. Parlor Market, the business, operates along those lines. This restaurant is a gem, albeit located in a rather barren part of the city, offering remarkable food in beautiful surroundings with gracious service. A must try, if you are in Jackson.

I've been here twice now on a weeknight while in town for business. Both times I made a reservation and was seated immediately. The restaurant was not super busy either time. The server came over right away and was happy to get ya drinks and provide a rundown / give suggestions on the menu.
We ordered the meatball and the buffalo cheese for appetizers and both were very tasty. The meatball was probably my favorite. For my entree, I got the carbonara. The pasta is all made in-house and it tastes fresh! Everything here was very flavorful and the experience was pleasant.
Since I was eating on the corporate budget, the prices didn't really matter to me, but I would say it tends to be a bit expensive, so I'm not sure if I would make the trip here often if I lived local and was dining out with my personal funds.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 174338736May 25, 2016
Fabulous dining experience overall. Food, drinks, ambience, price point, and location (at least for me) were all on par.
I started with the fried oyster salad which, I suppose is sort of hard to mess up, and had to stop myself from finishing it because I knew I had other things coming. The only recommendation I have would be to ask for the dressing on the side if you're someone who doesn't like your salad saturated in dressing.
The duck parpardelle is a dish that I think I'd order everything single time if I lived in the area. The chefs just nailed it- delicate noodles In a light sauce and duck that just pulls away from the bone. I can't say enough about how tasty it was.
And, as if that wasn't enough to send me into a food coma, I got a side of the jambalaya (when you don't live in the south it's important to take advantage of good southern food when it's available!) I wasnt sure what to expect as someone who consistently defers to grits, but I was happily surprised.
They offer a ton of duck dishes here and it's farm to table, which is cool. The downtown area is sort of desolate but I imagine that will eventually change. The area seemed safe (walkable from the marriott) and the staff was super friendly. It will be hard to visit Jackson and not stop by here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
