I'm surprised I've never reviewed this spot. It's been one of my go-to downtown lunch locations for years. The food is absolutely delicious and authentic. The owner is always pleasant and truly seems to value his customers and appreciate their business.
I'm a vegetarian and always order the same thing, a generous, five-piece falafel entrée which comes with two sides. I always get the loubieh, which are green beans in a savory tomato sauce, and tabbouleh, which is delicious and fresh. They add a few pieces of pita and I usually add a cup of their delicious hummus. It's a large amount of food for a very fair price; this meal costs about $12 in total which is less than I pay for much smaller portions elsewhere.
I work nearby and usually take my food to go, but there is ample seating both on the main floor and downstairs. They get a good lunch crowd, showing that this downtown gem is well-known and appreciated by the locals.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 20, 2023
Madonnas is delicious and I was so happy I found this lunch place while visiting Pittsburgh. The chicken shawarma is shaved from the rotisserie right there in front of you, and covered with the best garlic sauce (toum is the name of it I believe), and I paired it with baba ghanoush and rice. Definitely get the rice with the shawarma, and you'll probably appreciate an extra side of garlic sauce if you're as crazy about it as I am. The baba ghanoush was perfect too - smoky and creamy. The workers are so sweet here. I think it was a husband and wife, probably the owners, who served me.
As soon as you walk in this place, the smell, vibe, and steady line tell you that you found a special gem. I was in heaven. I had to park in a parking garage to get here, but luckily it was on the other side of the same block, and was well worth the $12.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 8, 2023
The food was absolutely delicious! A hidden downtown gem! Everyone working was super lovely and friendly. The food was prepared super quickly and tasted amazing! I will definitely be coming back here. I love the inside of this place. It's very cute and quaint. Also some of the best hummus is served here.

A lunch visit. Overall, it was nothing spectacular. Get in line, tell 'em what you want, scoops of meat or side goes into the "to-go" box then a ziploc'd bag of two pita pieces are added to the box. With so many business closed down for convenient Gyros (called Gy-ro here in Pittsburgh but yee-ro is still what I call it), went with co-workers for a bite at a different place.
My gyro meat was on the dry side and the falafel balls were crunchy. It would have been nice is it was shaved off from a revolving cone into a pita bread like I am used to; could be the reason it was dry?
One time try for me.Helpful 17Thanks 0Love this 17Oh no 0 - Amber A.Poulsbo, WA53Jul 28, 2023
Fresh as can be! Generous servings. Real food, being made with love by real people. We had the Gyro and Falafel entree with Tabbouleh, hummus and Lima beans on side. Highly recommend. Thinking of getting another order of Falafel to eat for breakfast tomorrow.

Great food good prices. I go there every time I'm in Pittsburgh.
Owner friendly, he's usually at register. Tabouli is the best.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 12, 2019
One of the most authentic Mediterranean places I've been to in Pittsburgh! I've been for lunch a few times, and let me tell you, it's popular especially among the business crowd. There's often a line out the door but the staff moves quickly to get your order. Many people were getting food to go, but there is seating on two levels for those who want to dine in. The food is fresh, and there's a variety to choose from. I highly suggest the chicken with the garlic sauce on top, hummus and falafels on the side.
If you're big into eating Mediterranean food like me, this place should be on your list to visit in downtown PGH. You'll find yourself being a repeat customer!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Lynn C.Greenville, SC23465600Mar 1, 2022
Jury duty was a drag but it led me to this tasty place for lunch! An easy walk from the court house, I walked in to order and it wasn't overly crowded so I found a seat and ate it. First, very friendly staff! Second, I got the chicken Schwartz platter....so good, so big and so, so good. I had rice and hummus/pita as my sides but everything looked good. Loved the hummus! Third, did I mention how darn delicious everything was???? So glad that if something good was going to come from jury duty, it was this tasty find!

Fantastic family owned spot with delicious food. I personally always go for their Kafka lamb with green beans and falafel, but you simply can't go wrong! When they serve you they are also glad to give you a little extra sauce/juice that it marinated in. Definitely one of my top lunch spots choices and it seems like plenty of other people agree!

This place was great! The food was tasty and the service was beyond. My son had chicken shawarma for the first time and loved it. The staff was so caring that he had something he would like; they checked in on him and even brought my daughter some rice when she didn't like her (delicious) food that she'd ordered (picky 6 yo).
I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
