This place is really good. I'm not really a fan of sugar and/or junk food. But when I am craving something good and not thinking about the calories, I go here. It is like a snack bar more than anything else. They have lots of sweets but also have sandwiches and other salty snacks. My favorites here are the chilindrinda and the abisbos. I'm not sure if they have the bombaso de mango like they do at their other location.

I stopped by Paleteria La Michoacana de Paquime one day out of whim after a long day at work (from now..I will refer to it as "this place"..as it's too long for me to remember the full name!!).
The place is a hole in a wall along west side of Central Ave and is pretty much a hole in a wall. It has plenty of dessert offers (and most of them have pictures), so if you aren't familiar with Mexican desserts, you can still get by by picking something out of the photos without knowing much Spanish!
The day I went I actually wanted Mango con Creme...but I supposed it came across as just Mango (and they just added chili and all the dusts for me). That said...everything was still fresh..and I guessed..saved me from all the additional calories!
I would like to go back to this place to try other things though. It looked like everyone was enjoying Mexican desserts and some savory snacks (like elote/nachose) there. Totally unassuming place..but a good hole in a wall without any pretentions to checkout for sure!Helpful 7Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jul 22, 2019
Let's say that your "bucket list" suddenly became "modified!". Before you "kick the bucket" you want to experience every Paleteria in New Mexico. After all, This Paleteria is named for Michoacan just west of Mexico City, where it's believed that Paleteria's Paletas frozen ice and Mexican ice cream bars were born. This is a large comfortable paleteria. My mouthwatering Coconut Paleta bar dipped in Dark Chocolate bathed in sliced Almonds cooled my heat from this 90 plus degreezz day. It's that good. Enjoy and please follow me on this Paleteria Adventure. Thanks for reading.

The best Paleteria in Albuquerque. Don't be scared; just go. They have everything you want. I love the frutilocas and the fresas con crema, as well as the paletas.

So glad I found this place. It's so worth the visit. Popsicles for less than 2 bucks. I tried the mango, strawberry and the guava. I ordered the milky mango and starwberry. My favorite was then mango then the starwberry then the guava. I really don't recommend the guava if you like more milky and creamy popsicles. However, if you enjoy icy popsicles then you may enjoy the guava.
Please take a look at my photos and feel free to ask me any questions you may have.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Maranda H.Albuquerque, NM83682Feb 12, 2021
The delivery was quicker than their estimate. The bread the sandwiches were on was amazing but the strawberry drinks were the show stealer! The chocolate covered bananas had too many sprinkles for my taste so that it looked good but overwhelmed the chocolate flavor so next time I'll probably get the one rolled in nuts instead.

Wow, wow, wow! I did not know what I was missing in my life before I found this place on vacation, lol. Sadly, it WAS while I was on vacation, and I may never get to go there again. So you must go!
The first night we went, I got one of their mango paletas. I've never had a paleta before, and was stunned by its awesomeness. I suppose it can be best described as puréed mango with some sugar and big chunks of fresh mango frozen on the stick. It was amazing. They had so many other flavors I wanted to try but could not manage to get there enough times. We did try their pistachio paleta and also their melon paleta, both of which were very good. But I wanted to eat the pineapple one, the strawberry one, the mango with chili one, too - they must have had a dozen other flavors.
One night I had Mango Con Crema. Not really sure what was in there, besides the chunks of fresh mango, but I am guessing it was sweetened cream and maybe some ice cream mixed together, and it was topped with whipped cream. It was excellent! There were many other items on the menu that I had no idea what they were (because I am just a silly Anglo), but I wanted to try them all! Everything looked amazing.
The store is in the international district, I believe it is called, but I had no qualms about going there. They have a counter along the wall with the windows that you can eat at, and several tables, too Each night we went we had to wait in line 10 or 15 minutes (it apparently is a very popular place), but don't let that deter you. It's worth it!
Oh, did I mention the large and delicious paleta was only $1.40?

This place is great. Always fully stocked and the selection is above the norm. I've been to many Paletaria's but this one is always clean and has such a great variety of desserts not to mention salty snacks.
It seems to be that all these paletas are hand made and crafted with such a delightful variety of fruits and flavors. It could be overwhelming for maybe someone that didn't know what paletas were but it is a great discovery. I paid $1.50 for one paleta which is a lot better than most places. I always get the cream and strawberry flavored one. Seems to never disappoint it's just slightly sweet and very creamy.
The location could seem a little bit shady but they're really quick to get you in and out so don't be intimidated. The staff is super friendly and speak both Spanish and English.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ty K.Albuquerque, NM10014044May 6, 2017
I cannot believe I've never visited this Mexican Ice Cream / Lunch counter until today. It took several episodes of "Better Call Saul" to give me the desire to check it out.
It was full of happy Patrons. Super Clean. Tremendous selection of traditional Mexican drinks, ice cream and lunch items. I had a Pistachio ice cream that was great.
This is a must! You will give me a compliment when you try it!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Cat H.Albuquerque, NM2156Apr 24, 2021
I don't know what part of Mexico these peeps are getting their recipe for fresas con crema but all I know is IT IS ASS. Who in the hell puts whipped cream in fresas con crema, also it was super watery and the whipped cream didn't help the situation just made it look all ugly and taste too sugary. Sorry but this place sucks, not authentic Mexican treats, they can't make something that's simple. Call it something else bc it's a disgrace to Michoacan.

Would you like to take your 5 senses on a field trip? Then look no further, because this is the place to be! The elote alone is perfect for a cold day... served in a cup. Their chamomix is out of this world! Filled with mango/lime ice cream, chamoy, tajin, fresh mangos & topped with a few gummies. Their agua mineral preparada is like a michelada with no beer...sooo good! It would be an added plus w/ a drive thru! Delicioso!
