Oscar Lopez, DMD

I went to Oscar's office to get one of my veneers replaced. For some strange reason, Oscar gave me a crown. I am not sure why he did this. I am devastated by what he did to me. This has totally changed the appearance of my smile and has caused a lot of emotional distress. A few weeks ago, I called the office to discuss Oscar's negligence and was met with hostility from Matt (?), who is the account, I believe. There are other things that are wrong with this office and I do not believe that all of the dental hygienist are certified dental hygienist. I would not advise anyone to schedule an appointment at Oscar's office. The office has not shown an ounce of empathy toward my experiences at their office.

I highly recommended Dr. Lopez. He and his staff are very professional. I'm really glad to make a quickly appointment with him. Was very easy, I call Tuesday and got an appointment for Friday. Not so bad.
I did in my first appointment the regular cleaning, with Carolina. She is very professional, and very empathetic.
Later the Dr. Lopez came and I request that I would like to fix my front teeth broken. I said that I didn't know if my Delta Dental cover this. He said to me, don't worry, and don't charge nothing to you, only of the insurance pay to me.
I love it the office, very clean, well decorated. Nice music. I feel like in my house. You will have parking (considered that is in Miami Beach, is very good).
You forget that you are in the dental office.
The treatment was done in a timely manner.
Definitely will be my dentist.

This was my first visit to Oscar as he likes to be called, Mr Lopez is my dad he says!

He was extremely professional and helpful. I got an original quote of double the price from another dentist whos name I will not say here! I needed a root canal and a crown done and was in major pain but had been putting it off because of the expense.

His office was super helpful and they even booked me at 6pm after I got off of work because it was an emergency, Something that I will be forever grateful for and the main reason that I am leaving this review! Overall it was the best experience that I have ever had at a dentist, the office was very clean and the staff was super nice as well. I have found my new "South beach dentist" =)

Was looking for a new dentist on the beach, was recommended to Dr Lopez by a friend so I gave it a try. The hygienist that leaned my teeth was great. The problem came with the scheduling. My appointment with the Dr was at 1:30, I sat there for 20 minutes waiting to then be told he was not showing up until 2pm. Rescheduled to see the Dr the following Monday at 3 pm, say there again for 30 minutes and walked out never got to see the Dr. I cannot say if he is a good dentist or not because I never saw him. This office has no respect for people's time. Was hoping this would have been a better experience, since the hygienist was very good.

Went to Oscar best dentist in the world and he charged me 1/2 the other dentist quote without knowing how much it was. He is honest straightforward and never does work that is not needed.

Finally an dentist you can trust and count on. All the staff are super nice friendly and always concerned about you. Such a pleasure

** DANGER - STAY AWAY AT ALL COST **
February 2017 - One day I had extreme dental pain, so a friend told me to go see Dr. Lopez, since I lived close by I made an appointment to see him. First thing, I didn't have any dental insurance at the time of these procedures. During my first appointment, Dr. Lopez said that I had two molars that needed to be removed which he did without any issues. With the removal of the two molars, other dental issues, crooked teeth, coloration and over bite, so I then decided to see about getting veneers. Dr. Lopez had me talk with his dental office manager about financing and to set up the next appointment. The manager stated that they could get me a care credit account so that I can put all my dental expenses on it and make payments. I said ok, I knew that my credit was not so good, so I had a very good friend co-sign for me, but I had only got approved for $2500. All the dental work plus the veneers was going to cost $5500. On my next appointment, only four days later, Dr. Lopez took a mold of my teeth to have it sent off for my veneers. The office manager told me not to worry about my financing because they were working on get financing for the office through Wells Fargo so that they could do in house financing. At this time all was going well, until the third appointment. On the third appointment, the day of installing my veneers, Dr. Lopez, shaped/shaved my teeth which is a very painful process, brought me to tears, so that he could properly fit my new veneers. Sometime during my appointment, but after he had already shaved/shaped my teeth, he had talked with the office manager about my financing. When finding out that I had not been approved for the whole cost of the all the dental work plus veneers, he then told me that he would NOT install my new veneers until I could get financing or come up with the remaining balance of $3000. I stormed out of the office in tears, my teeth hurting, looking like small pieces of gum and traumatized. At no point did Dr. Lopez or the office manager call me to see if I was ok, or try to help me with any financial remedy. I had no smile, my teeth hurt so bad that I couldn't eat, let alone be seen out in public which prevented me from going to work. Two days later, I call Dr. Lopez's office; the office manager told me that Dr. Lopez would install my veneers if I came up with $1500 instead of the remaining balance of $3000. At this point, I was still a little traumatized from the whole ordeal. I still had no way of obtaining this kind of money to get my teeth finished. The only thing I could do was call my dear friend that co-signed for me in the first place and ask him if he could help me. Luckily for me, my friend was able send me the $1500 so that I could get my life, smile back so that I could work to pay my bills. If it wasn't for a long time friend letting me borrow the $1500, Dr. Lopez would never have offered to install my veneers. On my final appointment, neither the office manger nor Dr. Lopez never ever apologized to me for the trauma and heartache that they put me through. After talking to another local dentist, she told me to make sure he fits my veneers properly, and then come see her from now on. To this day, I feel that Dr. Lopez's and his dental manager held me and my teeth hostage for money with no remorse or apology. I want everyone to know what happened to me at Astoria Dental at the beach with Dr. Lopez.

A REVIEW WORTH READING TO THE END!

My first encounter with Dr. Lopez was on February 27, 2015 when I arrived at what I believed was going to be an ordinary appointment to have previous work I had done by a dentist in New York checked... turned out, my x-rays showed that I needed to have surgery to remove a severe infection that had developed in my gums (which required me to have synthetic bones placed in the area after the procedure was complete.)

So there I was, sitting in a strange Dentist's chair, contemplating if I should get up and run or "man-up" and have the much needed surgery performed right then and there?! Suffice it to say, panic set-in as I began thinking-thinking about my medical history of having a seizure disorder, which sometimes is brought on by stress and "I was TERRIFIED!"

Soon after, Dr. Lopez came back and explained the procedure as being pretty simple and common; but when I asked "If it would hurt?" and his reply was a nonchalant "Hmmm yeah, but I will numb you up a bit." You got it! I wanted to jump out of his chair once again, but this time I'd run straight back to my Mommy in New York. But I sat there, with tears in my eyes, I looked at Dr. Lopez and said "I am so very scared."

Dr. Lopez who appears to be a bit unapproachable and straightforward when you first meet him; immediately realized my profound fear, and his "bedside manner" took over as he acknowledged my fears, spoke of my seizure condition and him and his staff made every effort to make me feel as comfortable and assured as possible.

Besides numbing the area over a period of 1/2 hr., his dental assistants came in to check on me, one even sat and talked to me [and wiped my tears] until it was time for the procedure to begin. And, throughout the entire 20-30 minute procedure Dr. Lopez asked if I was ok and if I was feeling any pain, assuring me that "...no one should have to feel pain or fear while in his chair." Once the procedure was finished, Dr. Lopez he had one of his assistance sit with me until they felt I was completely claim and was okay to go home. Now that in opinion is AWESOME "Bedside Manner!"

Two weeks later I returned to Dr. Lopez to have the sutures/stitches removed and the crown replaced in my bridge [which was the initial reason for my visit.] I was thrilled because I did not have to have my entire bridge replaced?! Only one crown, due to Dr. Lopez's father who taught him how to replace individual crowns in a bridge; which saved me over a thousand dollars because Dr. Lopez is definitely skilled in his craft of Cosmetic Dentistry.

I have never been more blessed and elated to have found Dr. Lopez, which is why he and his staff are a 5-STAR in my opinion! :-D

Called in For an energency, the bonding I had on my front tooth chipped off (#9M), they took me within 30min of my call on a Friday at 6pm. (Only dentist opened in south beach after 3pm on a Friday!) Dr. Lopez was quick and matched my tooth color and shape it perfectly. He is also very nice! Price was very reasonable compared to the other dental offices in the area!

I needed a root canal, and didn't take care of it before I left Chicago for a few months. Big mistake! So, I get to South Beach and first think I notice is a very sore mouth... Go figure.

So I asked around, used Google and Yelp to find a dentist, and he popped up in several searches. Dr. Lopez is on Lincoln Road, so location is very central. The people that work in his office are all very nice and the office is clean, yet not updated in appearance. I am used to a very upscale dental salon (The Dental Salon) in Chicago, so I can be a snob I admit. But Dr. Lopez reminded me that a good dentist is much more important than a foo-foo office and memory foam chair!

Part one of my root canal is complete, and I have only good things to say about him and his office. If anything changes, I will be sure to let you all know. Not to mention, he does more than basic and cosmetic dentistry. He is also an Oral Surgeon, so you can save money by having every done in his office. My mouth is a little sore, but I am all smiles!

of course this was not mentioned when i made the appointment. the man at reception is not polite and actually very rude to the clients. i would not recommend going here thnx
