A great place for dinner!
I ordered the Emperor dinner which is steak, chicken, and shrimp. Very tasty and service was 10/10 considering that we were the only ones there. Would recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sam P.Kingsland, GA271722Nov 6, 2022Updated review
I'll write a more in-depth review, but if you're in a rush, here's the update: You get half the food they used to offer for 50% more money.
They've gone completely downhill. I guess since they don't have any competition they realize they don't have to serve their typical portions. Used to be able to bring home a nearly full takeout container. Now, it's a measured small scoop of rice and literally 6 cut up pieces of chicken (not 6 chicken breasts obviously. They cut the chicken into 8 parts and literally gave each person 6). You can count the vegetables they give you. Got 3 carrot pieces in my order.
The guy making our food was great, but the service sucked. Drinks stayed empty. Sushi didn't arrive until the meal was over halfway over. Mind you, we were quite literally the only customers in the restaurant for the entire time we were there.
So if you want terrible service, smaller portions for more money, and hibachi, then this is the place for you. Otherwise just avoid it, it's a shadow of what it used to be.
This is very typical of businesses in Camden County. They run themselves into the ground trying to be as absolutely cheap as possible while raising prices. You can't tell me the price of rice has gotten so expensive they can barely cover your plate with what they serve.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 1, 2015Previous reviewGreat hibachi, great theatrics, and great service. The shrimp sauce is probably the best in town, and in surrounding areas.
Great for kids and adults alike.
Medium groups and smaller groups may have trouble with privacy or seating depending on time of day due to the layout. - Nov 27, 2019
Food quality is meh, service is forgetful, and hibachi is all over the place.
We came here while in town. We tried to be optimistic despite bad reviews, but unfortunately the did not meet that optimism.
Alex ordered lobster, steak and chicken hibachi. I ordered sushi. Although he kept telling the chef how he liked his steak medium rare and asking him to serve it, he kept cooking it. Here then gave way under cooked steak to another couple there who asked for it medium. He also gave Alex some of their shrimp on accident, so they didn't even get what they ordered. The chef was really nice though. Very talkative. Alex did seem to like his food though. It's a ginormous portion!
Also, don't look across to the other hibachi station while cooking. The other cook here had stuff everywhere. We have seen much cleaner hibachi places.
I ordered sushi because of my gluten allergy. Unfortunately they were out of several ingredients so they kept having to come back to have me change my order. I got inari (good), USA roll (no sauce? Meh), and futo maki roll (tasted funky, and this is a go-to for me).
Our waitress kept forgetting my drink too. I stopped reminding after the third time.
Next time: we'll try something else.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Keith J.Kingsland, GA03Mar 28, 2023
Excellent show by Chef Dawson, tasty food, pretty big portion, quite reasonably priced and an overall great experience. We're definitely going back.

This was our first experience at Osaka. What fun we had. We were immediately seated at the grill with several other patrons. We were attended to quickly and orders were taken. It was hard to decide, as there were many items to choose from. As we ate our salad and soup, Dawson, our hibachi master, began the food prep and bantered with the table. It was such fun getting to know our grill -mates! Dawson answered questions we had and shared what he was doing as he went along. The food was amazing, plentiful, and done to perfection. All in all, we had a great experience and will be returning!!!

Was there a couple of weeks ago for my grandson's birthday. He wanted hibachi and was excited to see that one was open in St Marys. Four stars on Facebook. Closer look no review in the past couple of years.
Got there at 5:00pm on a Saturday. They were severely understaffed. We sat at a hibachi table for an hour waiting on a chef.
The chef was a 19 year old local who was undertrained. Overcooked eggs and undercooked rice to start. Poor, sophomoric attempts at humor were ill-timed. Didn't hide his inability to properly cook.
One of the nice things about hibachi is the social experience. He could only cook one meal at a time.
I can't see this place being in business much longer.
Breaks my heart as I love to support local businesses.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris K.Palm Bay, FL16964Apr 6, 2022
Use to enjoy this place, my wife and I moved back here recently after 3yrs of being away and we left before we even got drinks. This place completely went down hill, service is terrible, the chefs are hit or miss but on this occasion he was super awkward and looked as if he wasn't "prepared" to work at this establishment and same with the "hostess" if you wanna call it that. I believe I'll just start driving to Fernandina or Jacksonville if I ever want Hibachi.
