This is an awesome little surf shop! The owner was extremely nice and fun to talk to. I will definitely be visiting here again.

"Aloha, this is Stan from Orchidland Surf Shop with your daily surf report" that's what you can hear Stan call in on the phone to the local radio stations if you walk in at the right time. He's done an awesome job with keeping up with the trends and maintaining a success business in this tough economy. Not only do they stock boogie boarding and surfing necessities to catch those Honoli'i waves but there's a good selection of slippers and womens and kid clothing because you know that all the ladies are the ones doing most of the shopping! I got a pair of Billabong jeans that they were discontinuing for only $30. Whot!

This shop has been around for over 50 years! Stan was broadcasting the surf report from the time I could remember as a child. He knows his surfboards and surfing is his passion. I've been coming here since I was a teen which was a long time ago. This Was THE surf shop on the entire island! Lol. Love this place. They have everything you need plus advice from Stan on surfing.

I did not have my phone or car with me this day. I stopped in to kill some time. I have to say. I honestly have nothing in common with these guys essentially. I was able to fit right in like an old comfortable shoe :) i met Kirk and the owner, Stan.
I'm sorry. So I walk in and check out boards and cords and flip flops even. So I asked about comfort and flip flops and just got into a good conversation with both of them. Chatting carried over to chilling over a beer to having Kirk give me a lift.
Every time I see these two I we always smile and exchange a hang loose and ask how we are doing :)

Very friendly! I was looking for a NorCal Style surf shop in Hilo, and found it. Great selection; check the sale rack, too.

Stan is the man! Great friendly guy running an awesome local surf shop. Great selection of mens and womens clothing/swim apparel. He also rents out surfboards for $20/day. My family and I always pay Stan a visit when we come to Hilo every few months and I always find some shirts for myself or my bf. I love his Orchidland brand stuff. Unique surf brand you won't find anywhere else. And his logo features him surfinf a wave... Very cool. Thanks for providing such a great local surg shop Stan!!!

Sorry, but this surf shop is not run in a professional manner. Sure, there is a rather large selection of surf wear. He does not accept returns, ever, even when you purchase something for your boards that does not fit properly and has never been used. If you need something relating to your surfboards, head over to Hilo Surfboard Company or Hulakai; they're much more helpful.

I found this surf shop while exploring Hilo. When I walked in, Stan greeted my wife and I with a big smile! As it turns out Stan knows a thing or two about surfing! I wanted something to represent Hilo, and Stan had just the right swag for me. Check him out when in Hilo. Mahalo Stan
