Passing through on the way from Wichita, KS to Lubbock, TX. Thought we'd give German food a try. Sure glad we did. Just a wonderful experience. First of all they have a great selection of beers, German and domestic. Nice wines too. Start with the pretzel for appetizer. Never had one so soft. The dipping sauce are great too. Try the jalapeño!. My wife and I both had different schnitzels. Being new to schnitzels, our waitress helped us out a lot. She didn't steer us wrong. Delicious. Kraut! Regular and Rotkraut (Red cabbage)
Both wonderful. They were unfortunately out of apple strudel so we got apricot and peach "to go" Too full to eat it there so that will be our treat a little later. If you like German food or think that you might, be sure to try Opa's.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matt M.Oklahoma City, OK133736162091Aug 19, 2021
Superb currywurst and really tasty spaetzle.
Loved the bite of jalapeño schnitzel that a friend offered up for sampling.
Service was a tad slow, but not excessively so.
Four easy stars with room for five -- just pick up the pace a bit.
Nice.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Bobbie A.Fairbanks, AK652840Aug 18, 2020
This is our second time driving to Wichita Falls just to come to Opa's. Our experience has just been impeccable here and we love the waiter, he makes us feel comfortable while our kids are running a mock.
I love the jalapeño schnitzel, but this time I ordered the mushroom schnitzel with the jalapeño cream cheese and it was ahhhhmazing!
Pros - military discount, friendly staff, amazing food, great with kids, and we don't feel rushed one bit.
Cons - I honestly don't have any.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 22, 2018
Took my husband on a date to try something new. We have not had tried this place so i wanted to give it a shot.
Pros:
When we came it wasn't very busy, so we assumed an hour + would be good.
They had different types of beers, I bought one for my guy he liked it.
The inside was kinda dim ( not a pro/con just info)
They have military discount on food (not alcohol)
We both enjoyed our meal. My husband tried the 3 sausages and said they were on point.
I had the schnitzel with mushrooms gravy, it was a tad bit salty but still good.
Cons:
The wait stuff weren't awesome or memorable, but okay. Everyone seemed be moving extra slow or get side tracked. If you have something planned after like a movie, then give this place two hours because you may be disappointed and miss your movie Iike us.
The sweet tea :( tasted like it was made with dirty faucet water) it was not a enjoyable situation at all.
The decor was old and simple.
The bathrooms seemed old and the stall even had a nail coming out of the door. One wall seemed like it had water and/or smoke damage.
With all that being said, we would come back to try something else when we have lots of time to spare, but was not in Iove with the pace or the customer service I received today. I waited for the waitress to come back with my credit card for 10 minutes. During the time she walked past me twice after having my items even as I was saying excuse me. She began cleaning another table as I waited and even had time to seat other guest. All I needed was my card so I could leave.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kent M.Fort Worth, TX141Jul 13, 2021

How unique that in the small town of Witchita Falls there's a super authentic German eatery with famous schnitzel?
Service was fabulous.
Portions quite generous.
Food was fresh and homemade.
I had the Rueben sandwich with speatzle. The rye bread wasn't as dense as I usually prefer it to be, but the sandwich was loaded with corned beef and sauerkraut.
I'd give Opahs another go for sure...next time complete with a dessert crisp!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jillian S.Waynesville, MO013Feb 6, 2021
I have been craving Currywurst since leaving Germany two years ago. I had to drive down to Wichita Falls from Lawton and decided to give Opa's a try. The service was wonderful and the Currywurst and fries were amazing! It definitely reminded me of my time overseas and was just what I needed. The atmosphere is nice too. Give Opa's a try when in the area!

Not the best German food ever.
Our server was really nice.
Probably would not come back.
We used to eat at a really good German place in Denver, Co. Opa's cannot begin to compare.
The food was ok just not as good as we are used to.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Charles P.Colorado Springs, CO151611Jun 27, 2019
Authentic German Restaurant with great food and beer menus. I had the Jaeger Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffel and wasn't disappointed. I was torn between ordering that or Schwenkbraten, but the waitress knew nothing about it which speaks to the reason why I could only rate it 4 stars. My waitress knew very little about the menus, telling me that a Pilsner was the same as a Heffeweizen, and couldn't adequately describe the Schwenkbraten... to say nothing of her inability to even pronounce the names of the food correctly (this is small town far away from the Texas hill country after all). If I hadn't ignored the waitress' bad advice, I would have a much worse experience than I did. Bring a friend with a German background to help you decide what to order, otherwise you may be at the mercy of an untrained wait staff.

Love this place! Never disappointed. The schnitzel variety is amazing if you like a different spin or twist to the original style. I personally recommend the schnitzel with the jalapeño cream sauce, a side of spatzle, and a big liter of whatever German beer you enjoy on tap. The food and experience will make you feel like you are back in Deutschland.
