We ordered on Uber Eats for Pick Up while at the Brewery just next door. Even though they were open and we could see staff inside (and their posted hours say they don't stop taking online order until 7:40 when they close at 8) they cancelled our order at 6:45. We've been there before and we're less than impressed with the food and the vibe of the place but this incident just cemented this on the list of places we will never go back to.

I'm writing this partly in the hopes of helping out a good, longstanding business that deserves more customers!
Ole Towne Gyros and Kabob is currently the tastiest gyros restaurant in town with the best service. I took one star off for the many items they did not have due to delivery issues that I think they need to fix. The rating is a relative one in comparison to other area gyros places.
I've been going to Ole Towne off and on since it opened many years ago. Historically, it ranked 2nd to Greek House mostly due to speed of service. However Greek house has gone downhill, particularly in customer service, while Ole Towne has gone UP.
Arguably, Ole Towne was ALWAYS the best in terms of the food. It is very hard for a gyros place to stand out as such, since they tend to get their meat from the same supplier (Kronos) or a close facsimile and use the same heating method (autodoner). The differences have to be somewhere other than the gyros. So, we generally tended to go to the closest place if gyros was all we wanted.
What set Ole Towne apart is the OTHER menu items, many of which are quite excellent, especially the kabobs. Additionally, their tzatziki is more flavorful!
Unfortunately, their ingredient supplier has not been up to par lately and they really need to seek another supplier so they can offer their full menu range... or they are going to need to cut down on the menu!
Like other gyros places in town historically, Ole Towne was closed for various religious holidays and for the family that operated it to go on vacation. This hurt their standing with some folks who expect to just show up, which may work at chain stores but isn't always the case at smaller family businesses. The other perennial favorite gyros place in town, when it was good, would also close at times of the year that seemed odd the anglo-americans. I don't think one should hold that against any Mom and Pop place as long as they generally keep posted hours and post notes when they don't. You can always call prior to going to make sure they're their... which they almost always are.
Bottom Line: Please go eat and encourage Ole Towne to get a reliable supplier and continue producing their complete menu of gyros, kabobs and other dishes. They're contemplating changing to another style cuisine and frankly, their gyros and kabobs are still the best at any regular gyros place in Norman.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Becca M.Oklahoma City, OK01111Jul 17, 2023

Has changed a lot throughout the years and not for the better. The gyro meat was was tender and good but the pita bread was doughy and the sandwich lacked sauce, just wasn't the same. Fries was good (they're fries) lol. Also couldn't use the restroom as they didn't property elaborate if I could use one, confusing especially after wife used the ladies room. Doubt I would ever come back.

Pretty good food. But out of the 10 times I have tried to frequent this place (during posted business hours) they are closed. Why are you closed when you post that you're open?

Ole Town Gyros & Kabob is a super casual, hole-in-the-wall, Mediterranean spot. You order food at the counter and seat yourself. I ordered the small gyro plate and it was more than enough for one person. The portions are definitely generous. The food took a long time to come out and I was not impressed. The gyro meat and rice both lacked flavor. The food was decent but I have had a lot better gyros in Norman. This is not somewhere I would eat again.

Placed an order for pick up. The guy on the phone was rude. Got my food and they didn't even complete the order I was missing the sauce that comes with the gyro. I tried calling them to see if I could come pick some up. They wouldn't answer their phone keep sending me to voicemail. Customer service stinks. Good luck to anyone ordering or doing business with them. They are a joke.

Grandparents were raving about this place for DAYS before we finally went. They are regular customers (at least twice a month) and they always order the Gyro Supreme. We went on a weekday around dinner time and ordered to go (as they always do). Service was a bit slow in my opinion but not a huge issue.
When we got the food home, i sat down with a watering mouth, so excited to try their "hole in the wall delicacy. My first bite..."eh". It wasn't bad. But it wasn't great. The gyro meat was sliced super thick (probably 1/4 inch), which my grandparents said was unusual--usually it is very thin. Overall the sandwich was dry without heaping on the dill sauce, which was quite tasty! The portion size was pretty good for the price of ~$9. I'd like to say I'd give them another chance but Norman has so many options I'd probably just go somewhere new next time.
Side note: if you need Mediterranean groceries for cooking, they have quite the selection, many seem to be imported with foreign language on the labels.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jack R.Oklahoma City, OK02Jul 15, 2022
