Old Smokey Bar-B-Q

This is not a very good place to eat. They over charge and underwhelm. I used to love this place, but there was a change in ownership, and since then, it's been utter .
I refuse to go back until they stop wake up. These people are asleep in the matrix.

1. You can tell a lot about a BBQ joint by how they make the classic American hamburger. I know it's not BBQ, but the burger is just so much more telling.
2. They charge for a $10 burger, and yet you can't get a reasonable portion of meat, nor do they offer a bacon option.

Your welcome to go and make up your own mind, but I just don't see reoccurring revenue as a high priority for them.

As far as BBQ goes, especially in Alabama, the competition is really stiff. I'm no BBQ connoisseur but I have had some of the best in the state and across the country because I travel quite a bit.

This place is situated in the small town of Leeds and there is another competitor right up the road from this place so it's hard not to compare the two.

This place is definitely below average. The favorite thing I had from here were the baked beans. I thought they had a nice flavor and were cooked well. The Cajun fries were average and I didn't finish the BBQ sandwich that I ordered. The main thing was I just didn't like their sauce at all and the pork was below average.

I've heard their burger is decent and perhaps I will try it one day but for now this is my takeaway from my first experience.

I do not understand why this place does not have a better rating they have good food. I recommend the large cheeseburger and french fries the barbecue is good so stop in and give them a shot.

Not bad. As BBQ goes, standards are high in the south. It has been my experience that the small mom and pops often have something to offer. This place is no different. Good food and friendly service. Consistency is the key issue. Baked beans are some of the best to be had though. Try to avoid 12:00 - 1:00 as the place is easily overwhelmed at peak time.

If you like a few fries with your salt you'll love this place and before you think it's just the fries no, the sauce is ridiculously strong, likely mostly being salt though perhaps it's a number of ingredients. Whatever it is, it MIGHT be decent if they diluted it almost 1/1 with water. So strong it's almost inedible The beans weren't bad. I think the reason other people have commented on them is because the other items are so bad they seem better. And then the banana pudding. They try to fool you by slicing a few bananas and throwing some vanilla wafers in the cup but it's Jello Banana pudding or something of that caliber. How this place is in business is beyond me other than, if you've been to Leeds you might get it. Leeds has a world class motorsports park, a bass pro shop and an outlet mall. Other than that it's a miserable and depressing place so this well below average BBQ joint fits right in. Awful.

Old Smokey is the best. We live nearby and eat there at least once a month. The sliced pork BBQ, cheeseburgers, corn dogs, and sides are all fantastic.
