I stayed here last weekend with 3 friends (2 rooms total) and it was okay. The rooms were very themed - lots of cowgirl/cowboy posters and the beds had twisted pine frames.

The walls were very thin and we had some cobwebs in our room. Our friends had the "deluxe" room and we had the "standard". The difference is that while we both had fridges and microwaves, their's was in a separate room (kitchenette) and ours was in the main (only) room. They also had a table and chairs in their kitchenette. The other differences were the Ipod dock and the better quality TV in their room (Samsung) vs. the regular clock radio and a no-name TV (AXIA) in our room.

The hot tub was broken while we stayed there although they did tell us we could use their sister hotels' hot tubs but we didn't feel like driving to do so. The pool was open and warm, though we didn't use it.

The bathrooms were average size; they provided shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion and enough towels for two.

There is a large garden behind the pool and in the very back corner of it is a garden swing which we used and enjoyed.

The continental breakfast in the morning consisted of instant oatmeal, boxed cereal, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice, cinnamon coffee cake, white toast and blueberry muffins. Nothing was extrraordinary, but a free breakfast is better than no breakfast.

We left our window open and had the ceiling fan on at night and we were very comfortable. Our friends a few doors down (we were in 14, they were in 11) ended up using the air conditioner unit but they said it was really noisy.

Our neighbors ended up having a brawl at 3am, waking us up and almost causing us to call the cops. We DID call the front desk, but no one answered. The neighbors eventually ended their fight, but I couldn't get back to sleep for over an hour.

The Ojai Rancho Inn is located pretty well, it's at the west end of the main drag and it is a short drive/walk to most of the town.

We noticed that most things in Ojai looked much better in the pictures online, so either the moderate weather takes a toll on the buildings mighty quickly or they employ very good PR people. So, keep in mind the pictures don't really look like reality - but the reality isn't horrible.

In terms of price, we paid $129 for one night in the middle of June. This was the price for both the deluxe and the standard rooms (even though the website says they're different) and with tax, the total was $263 for both rooms for one night each.

All in all, I might stay here again, but not before trying out some of the other hotels in the area first.

If you wikipedia (yes, it's a verb... and who uses the encyclopedia these days anyway?) the word "FAIL", you're more than likely to come across a picture of the Ojai Rancho Inn, particularly room #7.

Seeing that we didn't have the one gajillion dollars to spend on one night at the Ojai Valley Inn around the corner, we decided to spend the night here because of its proximity to that place for a wedding last weekend. EPIC MISTAKE.

Room #7 was situated about 15 feet away from the main road, and not that the main road compares to the 405 by any means... it was just a little weird for them to place us there, considering how empty the hotel looked in the first place (there were about 3 other cars in the lot when we arrived).

The room was fine when we checked in, but 3 hours later, we decided to head back during the break in between the wedding ceremony and the reception... only to find ourselves back at a HORRIFIC smelling room.  At first I thought the toilet overflowed, but it turned out to be something with the shower drain.  Apparently while we were out at the wedding ceremony, they had poured sulfer down the shower drain since the water wasn't going down well.  The girl at the front desk let me know it would go away in an hour or so, and sometimes the smell lingers in the carpets.  In the meantime, she sprayed some kind of Febreeze-ish thing in the room to try to mask the smell.  We trusted her (HUGE MISTAKE) and headed out back to the Ojai Valley Inn to catch the wedding reception.

We came back to our room a little after midnight only to find that not only did the sulfur smell NOT go away... it came back with a vengeance!!  No one was at the front desk (apparently it's closed after midnight), so all we could do was sleep with the ceiling fan on and all the windows open (I literally felt nauseous the entire night because of the smell).

I ended up complaining to the frost desk in the morning, and this is the response I got:

"Yeah, we know.  We're working to get that fixed.  We're actually going to get the carpets cleaned tomorrow."

GENIUSES... if you had known about the problem, why even have people stay in that room in the first place?

For all of you who have weddings to go to at the Ojai Valley Inn but are are looking to save money, DO NOT stay at the Ojai Rancho Inn.  Save yourself the trouble and nausea by going a bit further down the street to one of the better quality, better priced inns.

The place makes me wish I could give black stars on Yelp. Blegh.

We stayed at the Ojai Rancho Inn this past weekend while we were in Ojai for a wedding. Honestly, we only chose the place because it was inexpensive and you could stay for only one night. The reviews on here scared us a bit, but we were on a tight budget. When we called the morning we arrived to find out if we could check in early, we found out everything was in chaos because the old manager had recently quit or was fired. It seems that she was terrible, rude, and screwed everything up, including the date of our reservation. They said there was still one room available but, needless to say, we were concerned. The new manager is just as bad as the old one, I had called a few days before and she never said anything about our reservation being on a different date.

However, we got there and it was wonderful. Check in was easy, the guy who was at the desk was helpful and friendly and was fine that we were there early. Our room was fine. We were even in Room #7, right on the highway, and it was fine. I was expecting it to be horribly loud, but even my light sleeper husband was fine. The woman working the desk that evening was nice and helpful when my husband had a question. The free continental breakfast in the morning was better than most: coffee, juice, milk, tea, pastries, and cereal.

Our room was clean and had plenty of amenities (warning, it was small and "cozy" though). A big, comfortable bed, big flat-screen TV on the wall, plenty of room for storage and a kitchenette. The decor was cute and it had a log cabin kind of feel. The kitchenette had cabinets, a sink, and a refrigerator. The bathroom was terrible and out-of-date, but they are currently in the process of remodeling all the bathrooms to include spa tubs. They also own The Capri down the road so you can use that hotel's nicer pool if you want. You just tell the person at the desk that you're staying at the Ojai Rancho Inn.

I would have given them four stars based on amenities, the upgrading of the bathrooms, and the weekend staff, but the screw up of the previous manager and rudeness of the new weekday manager killed it. We are definitely willing to check it out again once the new bathrooms are in.

I've stayed at this place over the last 10 years and it has just gone into the toilet. The broken jacuzzi was covered with a tired blue tarp with rocks to keep it from blowing away, the pool is filthy, the grounds are neglected and when I checked in, they hadn't replaced the bathmat in the room with a clean, dry one; they left the wet, used one.  When I asked  to swap, I was told by the desk person that they had run out. Hmmm, not paying your linen bills? The owners have a couple of other spots in town, including a restaurant, all of which I would avoid, concluding that if they run their other properties as poorly as this they are health risks.

Stayed in their luxurious Pool Cottage, which is located next to the pool and has lavish amenities like a king size bed, gas fireplace, 42" flat panel TV with DVD player, iPod clock radio, etc.

Only problem?  I got LITTLE SLEEP the two nights that I stayed (and yes, I was *trying* to sleep! :)

The hotel is designed such that every RUMBLE from a passing car is funneled into the room.  The heating system is a traditional gas furnace which makes loud metallic CLANKING sounds as it heats up and cools down (metal expanding on metal).  The building is made of wood, so that it CREEKS.  A cute little sign declares the room as the "Pool Cottage" but people must think that it's the way to get to the pool.  Other guests KNOCKING on your door at all hours of the night to get to the pool is NO FUN.

I give it two stars though: 1) amenities and 2) cost.  But, if you decide to stay here, bring your EARPLUGS!
