Q:
I am claustrophobic but have toured other caves without issue. Are there any especially tight, long passages on any of these tours?
A:
There are long passages, but I wouldn't say that any of them are overly tight. I'm 6' and 225, and I had no issues moving around inside. Many of the spots are fairly open, relatively speaking to being inside of a cave, of course.

If you had to pick a tour which is your favorite of the ones they offer?
A:
$20 Historic, $20 natural wonders, or $30 combo/both in a day. I recommend both tours, but if you really only want to do one then the natural wonders is better for the stalagmites and stalagmites. If you have small kids then take the historic to… more

Here's the deal: I totally expected an overly commercialized, in your face, cheesy, subpar experience. And that was not the case at all.
Yes, there is the obligatory gift store, but there are added touches like the EV charging stations, solar panel array and signed tree trail that I totally appreciate.
And that doesn't even include the caverns. Wow, just wow. Really beautiful. My teen boys actually thought it might have been better than Mammoth Cave. We decided it was just a different type of experience. But if you are into stalactites, stalagmites, columns and soda straws this is for you.
If you like to take pics, I suggest staying towards the back so you can take your time. I had a young girl breathing down my neck, til I asked her family to pass.
Since this is the off season, I will be interested to return during the main season for a different tour, BUT it was pretty nice to be there without crowds.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 28, 2024
Nice cave system, very impressive. I have been to a bunch of different caverns around the U.S. and this one was one of the more expansive ones that I have seen. It's surprising to see just how far you have traveled underground when you come out at the end point. The cave bacon lacked some redness to it, but the Crystal King was rather impressive and so was the xenomorph egg looking thing. Also, the floating pillars were unique and something I had not seen before. It's out in the middle of nowhere, but a very worth-while trip.

We took a pit stop at Ohio Caverns on our recent vacation in Ohio. My kids are under 10 and this was a perfect activity for both of them! We did the Natural Wonder tour, though my husband and I would have preferred the Historic Tour, this one suited our kids better. The cavern is very cool! It's well lit so we were able to see beautiful crystals and formations like stalactites and stalagmites. We grabbed some cheap sweatshirts at a local Walmart for the kids to wear in the caverns. Wear closed toed shoes as well as there are lots of puddles.
There is a great little picnic area and playscape for kids. My kids collect pressed pennies and really loved that there was a machine here. Everything is super clean and well maintained! The grounds are pristine. It was an awesome little stop.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 20, 2023
Informational and fun tour! We had a great time walking through the caves with our tour guide and about 12-18 others. We were able to take pictures and even get a souvenir photo taken that was $10 and worth it :) gift shop was nice with a lot of great rocks and minerals for a good price. Took about an hour to get through the tour. Once we arrived and had our tickets, we waited 15 mins for our tour and were able to enjoy the vast scenery. Not the best if you're claustrophobic, and I think I heard our tour guide say they have a special path if you're in a wheelchair (I could have misheard). Did the natural wonders tour but might have to go back one day to do the historic tour.

Saturday July 9th, Hubby Tony and I went to the Ohio Caverns located NW from Columbus Ohio. It's really near West Liberty, Ohio. We arrived around 9am when they opened and bought our tickets for the First Tour of the day for Natural Wonders Tour.
It started about 930am and cost $40 for both of us. The tour was led by Ben and there was about 12 of us on the tour.
This cave was AWESOME!!! LOTS OF RAINING INSIDE AND CONSTANT 54 DEGREES. THE RAINING IS CONSTANT DRIPPING from the cave called Kisses which brings you good luck...if so I was dropped on about 100 times!!! More luck for me!!!
The cave was about an hour long. Enjoyed it tremendously and loved it. There is a great gift shop, picnic tables some with shelters. Definitely would go again and highly recommend. Loved it!!!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - Jul 2, 2022
This place is truly an Ohio wonder! We were only able to take the Natural Wonder tour due to the timing in which we made it there. But the experience was no less than magical. Being able to walk through the caverns and still learn so much about the different crystals was so fun! All of my children ages 7-15 enjoyed the tour and said they learned quite a bit. Our plan is to make the other stops and visit the other Ohio caverns after this amazing visit. Oh and our tour guide was also a joy! She was very knowledgeable and engaged with all my little man's questions .

The Natural Wonder tour was fabulous. It was amazing to see all the crystals in their natural form. It was disappointing that the group on our tour was so large, with 20 or so people. The large group did not allow for everyone to hear the tour guide and made the tour not as enjoyable as it should have been, especially for the cost of the tour being $24 a person.

What a great tour and well worth the drive and price of admission. They also have a great gift shop and a place for the kids to pan for gems. Some of the stalagmites/stalactites started forming over 200,000 years ago!

These caverns are much more interesting than most others. It was $20 for the historic tour, $20 fir the natural wonder/geology tour, or $30 if you took both at once. If you only do one tour then do the geology one, unless you have small kids then take the historic one. The tours take different routes and the geologic one has more crystals. I say do not bring small kids because the oil on our skin stops the crystal growth for 50-100 years and also permanently stains the crystal. You aren't suppose to touch anything in either tour, but if you have skins that love to touch and don't understand no then they could single handedly destroy an entire cavern of crystals. Both tours were great and very interesting. They also are fully solar powered, have picnic areas, and nice bathrooms. The caves are all 54° so it felt nice down. It can be pretty tight in some areas and low in others so no strollers, no wheelchairs, and watch uour head. If you are in a wheelchair then they offer a special accessible route separately. They also have charging for EV vehicles!
