Awesome private college prep school. Excellent teachers, state of the art technology. Everything at this school is designed for the students future success. The school has a complete balance of academics, athletics, and art. The school does not busy any particular religion but strives to respect and strive for faith and kindness. If every school was like this our children could make the world we live in a much better place.

Great school and even better facilities. New additions to the Engineering building make the school an even better launching pad into universities and the work force.

This School really stands up to its reputation! I can only speak from my own personal experience, but, if you were probably to ask a lot of other parents they would say the same, WE ARE SO BLESSED, to be a part of this amazing school. The teachers are so incredible, the staff, the facilities, everything is SUPERIOR here! If you only want your child to have the best schooling possible, than you have come to the right place!
Check it out sometime!!! The only school where your child will feel like they belong, and they are cared for and respected, above all other things!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dee T.Ventura, CA064Apr 11, 2019
Fantastic school. Definitely the best experience, every program is A+. Faculty and staff is absolutely outstanding, everything they touch -turns in to gold! Students are very well mannered, facilities are fantastic and counselors care deeply for the success and future of the students. Can't give high enough recommendations for this school! We are blessed to be part of this "family"! Performing arts program is thriving and it is so amazing to see the balance between spiritual life, sports, arts and academic programs!

OC may very well be the finest college prep HS in all of Southern California, if not the entire state. Young men and women are put to the test and are well prepared to meet life's challenges. Students strive for academic excellence and athletic distinction like no other. I give Oaks my most emphatic recommendation possible!

My African American daughter will be entering the 11th grade next Fall 2015. We are very happy with the education that she is receiving at her current Conejo Valley High school. However, we received an invitation to a Christian College fair that was taking place at Oaks Christian and decided to attend. My husband, daughter and I attended and were blown away by the friendly volunteer parents who welcomed us with genuine smiles and humble hearts! As we proceeded to the location where College fair was being held, we were thoroughly impressed with the decor of the facility and the professionalism of the students and staff that were in charge.
My daughter was thrilled with the wealth of information that she received from attending the Christian College Fair and she actually selected 3 Christian colleges that she plans to apply to after she graduates from High School! My husband and I were thrilled and excited to witness first hand, the light bulb turning on in our daughter head! It was absolutely amazing!
After returning home and re-playing the events of the day in my head, I began thinking that it would be great if my daughter could attend Oaks Christian High School. The feeling was soooo strong! The next morning, while taking my daughter to school, I asked her what she thought about possibly going to Oaks Christian in the fall of 2015 and she stated that she would love to! Needless to say, I was overjoyed!
We are now in the mist of the application phase of the admission process. We have had our formal tour and student/parent interview! And let me say, Nancy Kruger gave us the best tour imaginable! She was warm, friendly, informative, and thorough! It felt like we've know each other for years. It was evident that she believed every favorable word that she stated about Oaks Christian. She even stopped random kids during our tour and asked them to describe the homecoming event that took place a few days before our tour. I was impressed with how comfortable the students were talking to adults! They welcomed the conversation! They were at ease and very forthcoming with information without prompting. In my dealings with high school students, that is very unusual.
As we continued on our tour, we were greeted with smiles and waves from students passing in the halls. How refreshing, I thought. We visited many areas/classes that were of interest to my daughter! Needless to say SHE WAS BLOWN AWAY AND READY TO ATTEND OAKS CHRISTIAN THE VERY NEXT DAY! I could go on forever about our experience AND WE HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN ACCEPTED TO THE SCHOOL YET... lol ... That is why I decided to write a review! Because I would like to let other parents know that if you have considered Oaks Christian and have not gone to check it out, PLEASE GO AND SEE FOR YOURSELF! YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED WITH THE SINCERITY OF THE STAFF AND STUDENTS! I'm bummed that I didn't look into Oaks Christian when my daughter was in the 9th grade. But, we are on God's time and I believe he put it on my heart now, because it is time! Not my time but his!
We are sooo excited about the possibility of our daughter attending next year! But as Bishop TD Jakes says "If we get in IT'S GOOD! If we don't get in "IT'S STILL GOOD"!
Because my daughter is a child of God! A true believer! And God has a mighty plan for her. We will see if Oaks Christian is part of that plan...We certainly hope so :-)
PS. Regarding diversity, I thought it was MUCH more diverse that the public school she currently attends AND I appreciate their intentional inclusion of different ethnicities on their brochures and pamphlets! I GIVE THEM AN A+ for that!Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sola S.Los Angeles, CA71523Jan 8, 2008First to Review
I attended Oaks Christian High school (part of Oaks Christian School) from 2001-2005. Although not without flaws, the school is an excellent private institution. It has multi-million, top-of-the line facilities, safety is never an issue, and the quality of education is surpassed by very few.
It's considered a "college prep" school, and currently in college myself, I would wholeheartedly agree with that statement. Just like college, there are NO bells at OCHS; students must manage and attend their classes without reminder. Critical thinking, discussion, and composition were heavily emphasized, which quipped me well for the multitudes of debates and essays required in college. The majority of freshman entering OCHS take Geometry or Algebra II/Trigonometry during their first year, opposed to Algebra which is generally taken by their public school peers.
Some of the students have family members or close contacts with well-known individuals. I remember having various accomplished industry professionals screenwriters, actors, such as Jim Caviezel give talks to use during our weekly assembly gatherings.
Because of the small classroom sizes (I'd say my average class size was 15-20), teachers have the ability to focus on every student.
I'd say other than the quality of education and the facilities, the highlight of attending Oaks was the "family" environment. Of course there was some cliquey-ness, but the [stereo]typical haughtiness and snobbery attached with prep schools applies minimally to OCHS.
The downside of the attending Oaks Christian High School is the lack of diversity (ethnic and socioeconomic), and the permeating right-wing Conservatism. Hence, the 4 stars and not 5. However, contrary to a popular notion, one does NOT have to be Christian, or affliated with any faith/religion to attend OCHS. There were a fair number of atheists and agnostics, along with students of the Jewish faith who attended. Yes, you do have to take a Bible class for one semester during your 9th and 10th grade years, but nobody is forced to pray or participate in religious activity.
Open debate and discussion actually happens to be encouraged at this Oaks, which is why I believe it stands out from other Christian schools.
As for the lack of ethnic diversity, the school is predominantly upper-middle class Caucasian students. I was one of the very few minorities students, and only one of a handful of Asians.
However, more and more families of different neighborhoods and ethnic backgrounds discovering Oaks, and the number of minority students are on the rise. As for the socioeconomic statuses, I'd say the majority of the students fall under the "upper-middle" class category. There are some extremely wealthy students, but at the time I went there, approximately 40% of the students were receiving some sort of financial aid from the school (private schools do not receive any sort of government aid).
Any more questions? Feel free to ask me about my personal experience.Helpful 20Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Amy C.Los Angeles, CA28910293Jan 6, 2015Updated review
My son is now a senior at Oaks Christian.
I'm so grateful for this school.
He will be going to a top college with academic scholarship.
It's going to be one of the saddest days of my life when we have to leave this school.
Oaks will always be my best memories of this time on our lives.
My son appreciates all that he has been blessed with at this school!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Jul 5, 2012Previous reviewMy son came in as a Freshman and we actually moved up here so that he could attend Oaks Christian.
At first he felt out of place, and wasn't sure about how he fit in. It took some time to get to know people but now I can tell you that He Loves It! He appreciates the excellence in the sporting programs and also his education. Everything Oaks does is tops.
We have met some very down to earth families that we can relate to. If you send your child here they will get an amazing education as well as learn Christian leadership.
There doesn't seem to be the partying and craziness that I see at other High schools . This came as a huge relief to me. All the parties and social events have been chaperoned by parents.
This place has everything my teen needs to be successful! - Regal B.Calabasas, CA2281May 24, 2010
My son is finishing his first year here and I must admit, it's tough, but good! The school is no joke. They are there for the kids and take it very seriously. It's competitive and allot is expected from the kids. I am all for that as long as the support is there for the kids at home or else it could be a night mare for someone.
Lucky parents!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1
