Good morning all! We've read the reviews including the negative ones, here's our (my girlfriend andI) take on Oak Knoll Lodge / Cabins...

First and foremost we really enjoyed the "remote feel' of the cabins. We found our key in the door ready to go. Upon entering our cabin (#15) we found that it was very clean, sanitized, and no muggie smells. That was important.

This cabin came with everything you need as if you were in your own home; refrigerator, microwave, gas stove, oven, toaster, coffee machine, adequate dishes, silverware, cookware, wine glasses, wine openers, TV, wifi, outdoor BBQ grill, portable firepit, and super comfy bed and pillows.

In an effort to keep this review short but sweet, we were very pleased with our 2 day stay here. Overall very clean and rustic. Some cabins are still being worked on- lots of improvements and remodeling to include a little store. We can't wait to check it out when it's done!

Hiking a picnic area is a stones throw across the road. See our pics. Stores and shops are within 15 minutes in the event you need extra supplies.

If you're looking for a cozy quiet remote cabin experience we highly recommend this location. Please look at our pictures as we covered this place head-to-toe.

A special thank you to the staff here for being super friendly, especially steve- thanks for the firewood!

We're planning to come back again in a bigger cabin with the rest of our family- they'll love it!

Very bad experience!! First they never sent me the check in information so my family waiting outside the cabin for an hour before we could reach anyone. Called several numbers and kept getting the voice mail including the emergency number. So we didn't get into our room until an hour after arrival, annoying. They said I didn't complete the contract which is incorrect because I have a confirmation. I requested a later checkout and they refused. My contract said 11:00 but they insisted I leave at 10:00 because this time of year is busy. What ever happened to great customer service. Awful. After having a reservation they decided to send me an additional contract for cleaning fees. If I wanted cleaning fees I would have booked an AIrBNB. Additionally like others said the place was dirty. Sofa was stained and I didn't want to sit on it. The additional comforter was dirty and stained and I refused to use. They might refuse to acknowledge my stay like others but let me include pictures. Talk about bait and switch I would stay clear.

I've been coming to Oak Knoll lodge for over 20 years starting when I was a small child. It used to be owned and operated by a nice old man and his wife. They kept the business running well. Everything was immaculate, up to date, and any issues were quickly resolved. There was maintenance on site and maids. The business was recently purchased by someone else and it has turned to sh*t. Everything is done remotely. There are NO staff members on site. There's no maintenance man and no maids. Me and my family recently stayed in cabin 8 and had a horrible time. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was stains on the carpet. I was pretty disgusted but kept an open mind. Then I went into my room and noticed that the curtains on the window hanging right over my bed were heavily stained and the lamp shade on the lamp on was also very stained. Then I tried to plug my phone in the living room to charge it and noticed that the outlet is broken. Half the outlets in the cabin don't work. Then I noticed that the door knobs to the bathroom are broken. You cannot lock the doors for privacy. Then I noticed that the doorknob to the back door that leads to the patio is broken and does not lock. Only the deadbolt on top locks, but even the deadbolt is flimsy and hard to lock. It's only a few uses away from being totally broken. An intruder could easily force their way in through the back door which is scary. Then when I went to take a shower my first night, I noticed black hair on the shower walls which is gross. The shower was obviously not cleaned properly--or at all! The bathtub is also clogged and started filling with water while I was showering and it took hours to fully drain afterwards. Speaking of bathrooms, the toilet in the other bathroom doesn't work and the floor near the shower is soft and mushy!! When you walk on the floor, it feels like it's about to collapse. This is scary and probably extremely dangerous! This could cause someone to get injured! By the way, the shower in this bathroom also had black hair stuck to the walls. There's just so much wrong with this place. The shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower were empty. There was no dish soap to wash the dishes. All the dishes in the cupboards were dirty. The can opener was broken. They didn't offer us any spare trash bags. There was no maid to take out our trash and no dumpster outside to throw our trash in. They just had a tiny trash bin that was full and knocked over, probably by a wild animal, with trash all over the floor. It was like that for the whole duration of our stay. There was also no maid to change our linens, or pick up our used towels and bring us new ones. Luckily I came prepared and brought my own towels but imagine how unpleasant it is for others who don't come prepared. The office is closed with no staff members to be found. You cannot contact anyone if you have problems. This is concerning because what if the heater broke in the middle of winter with no maintenance around to fix it and someone had to sleep in freezing conditions? They do not even provide enough blankets for warmth. Or what if the sink, toilet, or showers all stopped working? This place is a MESS!!! And it's extremely overpriced for how rundown, dirty, and ghetto it is. A dump like this should cost $89 maximum per night. Anything more is theft.

This is the most disgusting stay I have ever experienced. It is dirty and the faulty construction is ridiculous. There is 1x3 used as baseboards, walls half painted, dirty walls doors and baseboards, light fixtures that look as if they have never been cleaned. There were cobwebs in the kitchen ceiling. The throw pillows are filthy. There was a roach that crawled across the floor. The bathrooms were gross and zero to little water pressure. I would not recommend any person I know to stay here even for free, let alone for almost 500 dollars a night. We stayed in cabin #9. There are no smoke detectors or co2 detectors in any of the bedrooms.

Just stayed here for 4th of July weekend and all that comes to mind is False Advertising. If you go to their website you'll see it says there's a bar and a pool. There is NO bar and the pool didn't even have water in it. It's summer time and the pool is unavailable. The main lodge is also nothing like the pictures...it's a dark dusty room, not at all inviting. Truly disappointed with this place.

What a lovely getaway from the city. Just 2 hrs away from LA-- Oak Knoll Lodge is a hidden gem that's not on a main road (can't hear cars), but within walking distance from trails, picnic areas and snow sledding spots ! Only 10-15 min walk into town if you need groceries etc.

The cabin itself was comfortable with thoughtful touches. Ours was cabin 5 with a kitchen and all the things you need to 'cook at home'. The front and back porch was a great spot to just look at all the snow still on the ground. Easy socially distanced/contactless check in, free convenient parking. The cabins are all stand alone units with adequate privacy. We burned fire logs the whole time :) We will definitely be back to escape the city soon. The property is historic and being remodeled as well. I cannot wait to see what summer brings. The pool was gorgeous but closed for winter. Thanks oak knoll lodge !!

Our family's stay at Oak Knoll Lodge was a great experience. The manager, I believe his name was Wyatt, was super cool. Check in was a breeze. He gave me some local tips and even helped clear some snow from our parking area. I saw the new owner too and she greeted us with a friendly welcome. The office offered shovels and sleds for use while staying.

Our cabin was cabin #4. A one bedroom cabin that sleeps about 6, with two queen beds in the bedroom and fold down futon couch in the living room. The cabin was a bit dated but had the comforts for a mountain cabin stay. A fireplace, tv, wifi, and a well equipped kitchen made our stay comfy in the snow. Stove, microwave, full size fridge, coffee maker, pots and pans, glasses, plates and utensils and a nice large table. The bathroom is a bit small for 6 but we did fine. This cabin had a great view in the rear and a perfect hill for sledding. We even used the volleyball court in the snow. The SB Forest is also across the street for even more great snow play or hiking. Bring your own food and firewood.

This lodge actually has about a dozen individual cabins with varied sizes and accommodations from couples to families. It's off the main HWY 18 so you don't hear the traffic passing by all day, but close enough to walk to nearby businesses. You can actually walk to the Alpine Slide and a market on HWY 18. Also a quick drive to Big Bear Village for shops and restaurants. I would come back in winter for more snow fun, and summer to check out the pool fun.

My family and I had amazing time durning their first winter storm! The lodge is located near a park. It was perfect to go sledding. My family and I had a great time!

Make sure you bring enough wood for the fire place and extract blankets and pillows. We also brought Lysol and wipes to just make sure we wiped everything down, because, well, COVID. Lol.

It was the most perfect cabin! Love the vintage feel too:)
