I should have heeded the warnings!
This place is an entire mess. Staff disorganized and why give someone a time for an appt if you have no intention of honoring it.
Leaving me waiting to just fill out paperwork for an hour and taking everyone else who walks in ahead.
I've now missed the time for my appt and I'm sitting here watching an entire reception staff tell jokes and giggle while I'm trying to get this test and go home because I feel horrible!
Thanks for the crap service!
NEVER AGAIN!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris S.New York, NY5136957Oct 2, 2018
I used to LOVE this place and came here for the best service in NYC. This is of course before they were absorbed by Lenox Hill Radiology, which is one of the worst, most disorganized places to go to.
Since the merge there are a ton of new hires who basically do nothing and have no sense of the fact that people come to them exhausted (hurt and usually fasting) and just don't have the empathy to think about it.
Management is split between a front desk manager who can't answer anything and the billing manager who is MIA and won't come and speak to a patient to explain billing errors at all.
TERRY is the only person there who is competent and has been there forever. I'm sure that if she were still in charge things would run as perfectly as they did before.
As it is, (1) I went in for a scan twice and twice the echo wasn't there; (2) I went for another scan and because they failed to code the exam properly I was left waiting for hours and they took cookies to the radiology dungeon because THE RADIOLOGIST was getting cranky after waiting so long.
Way to go, you guys.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sumito A.Brooklyn, NY2944371100May 31, 2017
Get to the Chase:
Pros:
1) pleasant staff
2) quick check-in kiosks
Cons:
1) prepare to wait 2 hrs even with an appointment no matter how simple or complex the scan is
2) no communication of what to expect in terms of when you will be seen...just sit and wait
3) add another 45 min because the MRI machine has to reboot (Ctrl+alt+delete)Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - La La J.New York, NY120659Apr 7, 2017
In my opinion, there are good points and bad points about Park Avenue Radiologists. I'll list my experience there and you can decide if this is the right place for your needs.
My experience at the actual facility wasn't bad, it's just that I've had far superior experiences with other radiology places (Union Square Radiology is just one - they were amazing!). The front desk staff at Park Avenue could use a little more training on professionalism and focus though. I heard "attitude" with one of the other clients and they were friendly, but just seemed distracted and a little disorganized. Because of this, if you choose to use them, be sure to confirm EVERYTHING before you get there (appointment times, authorizations, pre certifications, prescriptions...EVERYTHING). And call before you leave to make sure they are running on time and adjust your time as needed. Also, confirm what if any payments you are responsible for BEFORE your procedure begins to avoid billing surprises.
The GOOD...
There was an older gentleman technician who was very nice, had a calming voice and was friendly and funny. The younger techs were also very nice, but didn't have the soothing bedside manner of the more seasoned tech.
Clean facility - this is very important.
Mostly on time - I was sent downstairs within 15 minutes of arriving. They did have my paperwork already though, and I had checked in on the kiosk when I arrived. If they can send you the paperwork in advance, fill it out and bring it with you to save time.
THE BAD...
Scheduling Time Errors
As has been said by others here on Yelp before, I also had a bad experience with the appointment scheduling. Made one and called them early on that date to confirm. They had moved it several hours earlier and no one knew why. Had I not called to confirm, I would never have known. Considering most of the complaints I see about this place have to do with wait times and scheduling, you would think they would get their act together.
Unprofessional Atmosphere
When I called on two occasions, the staff could be heard singing or laughing loudly in the background. When I went downstairs for my procedure, the radiology techs were talking about someone, angrily using the F word liberally, while patients were waiting outside and could hear it all.
Loud & cold - MRIs
This is not toward this facility, just in general about MRIs. The machines make incredibly loud knocking and banging noises. The techs will offer you headphones. ASK FOR THE EARPLUGS AS WELL. The headphones don't muffle the sound at all. The earplugs bring the noise level down substantially. The room is chilly; wear sock and ask for a blanket. A second robe to cover your rear is great if you're a bit shy about letting your ass hang out lol. The techs are all men and this can get a little uncomfortable. If you need a pillow under your back or anything to make you comfortable, don't be shy - ask for it. You'll be immobile for 20 - 45 minutes, depending on the procedure you need.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lucy M.Queens, NY20320175800Feb 22, 2018
Genuinely surprised at all the negative reviews! I don't know if I just got lucky or what.
I had no trouble calling to get an appointment. I called, a person picked up, and I was booked. When I arrived they had an extremely easy and convenient check in kiosk where I scanned my ID and insurance card, loved this process!
They have a spacious, clearly marked bathroom and a large waiting area. Also, points of playing NY1 instead of any other terrible news program. That means they pay for the cable just to be able to have that channel, I think that really shows they care. They have three different sorting bins for your recycling and trash, so they also care about the environment.
Check in staff, the doctor injecting the dye, and the attendant who brought me in were all incredibly nice. They had to inject in my shoulder joint, which is a weird area to have a needle in. They told me I might feel some leaking afterwards, that it was just the dye. Thank god, because I totally would have thought it was blood. It's little things like that that make you more comfortable. They also laughed at my terrible jokes.
The doctor who performed the MRI itself was brusque, rushed, and seemed a little bored, but wasn't offensive or unkind. MRI's are boring. It seemed to go pretty quickly and I went on with my day. On my way out, there were lots of twists and turns but more than ample signs showed me the way back to the exit. Again, just more attention to detail.
I thought this office was great!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - La Vida L.Manhattan, New York, NY81710Dec 16, 2019
This place is unprofessional and rude. Shouting private patient information against HIPPA our at office. My full name, that I was there for a mammogram, and my personal insurance info were all shouted out. The manager is rude and they talk about patients poorly at front desk. Procedure staff is fine if you aren't crushed from the front office experience by the time you get there. Worst medical office ever!!!

I scheduled an appointment for Sat at 8 am. The tech didnt show up. At 8:45 they were scrambling to figure out what to do and where to send me. Then they reschedule me for monday. This was so unprofessional and ridiculous. Even smaller places dont make such mistakes. And they will still take my entire fee. No discount nothing. They should be sued just for harassing a patient like this way. And its supposed to be the biggest radiology place in new york. Go figure!

THINK TWICE ABOUT PARK AVENUE RADIOLOGISTS
AVOID MY NIGHTMARE.....
Follow up comment:
I started with one medical problem when I went to Park Avenue
Radiologists and left with two.
I am in constant pain because of their very stupid technician.
Apparently, she was behind her schedule and needed me out
of her area ASAP. This was not my fault, I arrived on time for
my testing.
Now I am in physical therapy because she pulled my arm up
forcefully to get me off the table and I now require painful
physical therapy three times a week with no end in sight.
Luckily, my insurance covers all these costs to date. I
am not planning to sue for malpractice. However, I will
demand they reimburse me if my insurance does not
cover all my expenses.
I told my technician she hurt my arm and that she had no
right to do what she did. She did not even offer me
an apology.
My need to have surgery performed to heal my arm has not
been determined.
In addition to my suffering constant pain, I have limited
range of motion.
My sense is that Park Avenue Radiology cares less. I believe
when I share with them my plan to file charges they might
listen. Unfortunately, the New York State Department of
Health has so many complaints this will fall on the wayside.
If by coincidence there are numerous complaints filled and
if there are complaints against the technician something
might be done. At the very least my filling will be on the
record.
It seems logical to me that this is not the first time my technican
pulled or pushed other patients. It also seems logical that her
forcefulness hurt other patients. Perhaps, I am more vocal
than others in the past.
I don't want others to go through what I am going through.
I don't want to become addicted to pain medication. I am
between a rock and a hard place. I am in constant pain
and discomfort. This could have been avoided.
I hope that the NewYork Dep't of Health takes appropriate action.
My goal: to prevent others from my needless pain and suffering, hopefully, my technician will receive necesary training and
Park Avenue Radiologists will receive the appropriate fine
and writeup.

This is my August 12, 2018 review:
The radiologist literally pulled me up immediately after the test.
She pulled me up by the arm-she did not ask me if I needed her
help (which I did not), she hurt my arm, almost dislocating it by
her forceful pull.
She did not know what she was doing. The appropriate method
would have been:
1) asked if I needed help
2) if so, then gently placed her arm(s) over my back
3) slowly raised my body up
This person was not trained and is an embarrassment to
the company. Totally not receptive to people or their needs.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 28, 2018Previous reviewTHINK TWICE ABOUT PARK AVENUE RADIOLOGISTS

The other day I hurt my hand; The Dr recommended an MRI.. So. the most convenient place is Park Ave Radiology..
First. The techs themselves are excellent.
The Office staff on the other hand.. well less than satisfactory..
The clerk at the desk sees I have a brace on my hand. I ask her to please pull the cover off the pen. which by the way I have NOT touched. You would think I asked her to put her hands in a barrel of acid...
Oh you don't have an appointment the other clerk tells me: Um what do you mean. Well your insurance refused the test and your voice mail was full when we tried to contact you.. LIE..
So I called the precertification comany.. NO ONE from Park Ave had submitted a request!!!
Lie and then lie some more.. Never again will I use this place no matter how far I have to travel.
Oh I did get my mri. no thanks to the office staffHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
