Cute little grocery store offering a selection of local produce, homemade soups, sandwiches, and sweets, as well as hot tea, coffee, and espresso. They were more than happy to let me be a guinea pig for their new espresso machine. They also offer catering.
Nu-Beginning is super inviting and homey in the best way. It's a gem of a small business with owners as sweet as pie.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sandy L.Weyers Cave, VA12465Feb 1, 2024
If you haven't experienced the breakfast buffet at Nu-Beginning you are missing a special morning treat! Buffet is small but well worth the price! The best scrambled eggs you will ever eat, they call them cheesy eggs and wow they are delicious ( this coming from someone who despises scrambled eggs) and the highest quality bacon and sausage you will ever eat! Great hash browns and huge delicious biscuits! Honestly people give this place a try you won't be disappointed!!

PSA: They are no longer serving food restaurant style due to a catastrophic flood - they no longer have a formal kitchen. They do have sandwiches and stuff to-go.
Great people though and the store looks great!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 24, 2019
Yes! Eat here! Superb personal friendly service! Yummy food, breakfast all day! A cute little store attached with local yummies. Fresh eggs, gluten free options. Reasonably-sized portions. Cheesy grits side sized portion was enough for me. The mango smoothie was refreshing and delicious! Fireplace for those cozy moments. Soft music playing. Support local business!

I stopped here for a quick breakfast with a friend while passing through Staunton. This restaurant doubles as a little country store that sells homemade jams, pickles, cookies, and other goodies. I ordered the cheesy grits special, which consisted of your choice of egg (I got scrambled) and bacon over a bowl of cheesy grits. The scrambled egg was okay but I felt like I could barely taste the cheese in the grits. The bacon was crispy but there were only three pieces that were on the smaller side. Perhaps I just didn't order the right thing this time. So while my food was a bit underwhelming, I had a great time talking with our waitress. She was super friendly and my friend and I loved talking with her about the area and sharing stories about where we had all come from. If you need a quick breakfast spot, check out Nu-Beginnings Farm.

I've said this before, and will say it again, when traveling it is hard to find a healthy breakfast so we were so pleased to find a place that used local eggs and had lots of options!
Schweety and I selected the two specials, Huevos Rancheros and the Breakfast Burrito. Both could have been a bit larger for the prices, $8.50 and $9.00 but were filled with fresh, flavorful ingredients.
Three choices of coffee were available and the two we tried were excellent! Loved the complimentary refills, too!
In addition, they carry lots of locally made products so you can do a little shopping while you wait for your food to arrive or after you eat or just drop by to shop. :)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robert P.Bartlett, TN09Oct 12, 2019
We had a super breakfast there this morning ... was a nice place to eat ... and the food was great ... I recommend the Healthy omelet with the fresh spinach and those small tomatoes were obviously fresh fresh fresh ... My wife and some of the blueberry pancakes and and Alex had the plain pancakes ... all great ...
Highly recommended ... excellent service and food ... !!!

We enjoyed our simple meal here. Don't forget to also check out their lovely garden with seating in the back, too.
We ordered the deluxe greek salad, the chef salad, the smoked salmon on bagel, egg salad sandwich, and an a la carte breakfast of 1 egg and crispy bacon. Overall, the portions are smart (not overwhelmingly large). The only thing that did seem very big was the very generous egg salad sandwich (we were only able to eat half!).
The scrambled egg seemed a bit "flat", but it tasted fine. The bacon was nice and crispy. I enjoyed my greek salad, but my cucumbers were diced so fine that I at first thought they had left out the cucumbers.
All in all, I love the concept of this place of locally sourced produce and goods in a friendly and non-expensive setting. The staff was very nice, too. Wouldn't mind checking this place out in the future again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Angelique C.Indianapolis, IN115474Aug 18, 2019
Absolutely fabulous. This quiet community diner has all of the things that I love, welcoming staff, local food, and things that I can eat. I had the Hippy, sans toast. My eggs were cooked exactly as I ordered and everything was fresh. My daughter had the scones sampler, the lemon mint was her favorite. All of the scones came with cream, butter, and jam. This place is so good that I almost didn't want to share a review.

At the height of coronavirus quarantine a few weeks ago, my boyfriend was sent to VA for a work job, and I tagged along since I was bored and working from home anyway. In our three weeks there, visiting this spot was one of the highlights.
The employees/owners were extremely nice and welcoming by chatting with us while we waited for our food. We initially entered because of the menu, but we ended up spending a chunk of money in the store since the quarantine left us unable to shop around, and any time I travel anywhere I like to buy locally made wine, art, etc.
We ended up buying wine, lemon loaf, honey, fruits, coffee, and other things I can't remember. The chicken salad sandwiches we ordered were phenomenal, and so was everything else we bought to take home.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
