Nurses to thank for my labor/delivery from 2/12 from 02/14 : Josephine, Amy, Davis, Kimberly (Tech), Shelby, Julie and most of all Janet ! These group of wonderful people alone is what represents Novant as a collective! May anyone who has a baby experience the warm, caring, loving nature they had the entire time. SADLY! I got ONE tainted nurse and I'll NEVER forget my going home/ending experience RN/NURSE NICOLE! She works the baby floor at that! She RUINED my release with my princess and I don't wish it on ANY mother. She made commands I've NEVER heard of, she didn't go over any my discharge info like she said! Didn't ask how I was feeling! The baby? NOTHING! Completely mislead me on the car seat policy (if there even IS one! I wasn't explained as things change constantly!!) she didn't care too! She rolled my wheelchair like nascar going over every corner and bump during my release as if she wanted to hurt me/my baby on top of her KNOWING I had a c-section (RED FLAG) and she waited until down stairs to go back and fourth with me as if It was already overwhelming enough! And Holding a newborn in a wheelchair! Not to mention she let a complete STRANGER walk up on me and my baby as if he wanted to cause harm being a "nosey Samaritan". Thank goodness my Husband left few only a few to get our car (As which he too was upset). She could care LESS about me, my baby, or anyone's well being! Her energy was very dark as if she didn't want to be there or deal with anyone the moment she entered my room (I knew this lady nomore than 30mins from shift change, if that ! And I wish I would've had one of the good nurses like prior to help me ) . I pray this nurse is FAR away from any mommy/baby. As her ability to change evil the way she did in a matter of minutes is scary! Thanks to her I went home VERY uneasy on my last day/Valentine's Day after literally speaking with a care manager not even 1 hour prior about how amazing her baby team was! (I was WRONG But for the nurses who I had prior THANK YOU I hope you're recognized in a beautiful way!

Took my mother on Saturday evening due to excessive diarrhea. She is 80. Got in a room quickly.. in the Kasey Kahne section. No one came in, no acknowledgement, NOTHING! After an hour and a half, nurse finally comes to put an IV in... She tore a hole in her glove to expose finger, stuck her twice, hurting her without success. Said she was getting someone else. ER dr came by. Someone else came in and put a BP cuff on which left her with a huge bruise as it wasn't on properly. After 21/2 hours and the ER dr coming back looking for lab results, someone finally took blood. Finally a paramedic came in to put in IV (he was wonderful). We had taken a stool sample with us and after a lot of back and forth were told it was being tested for CDIFF and would have results in 24-48 hours max. ER dr was very nice. Tuesday night I call ER to see why we haven't heard anything...THE LAB DIDNT TEST IT!!!!! said she would need to provide another sample. No phone call, no follow up. Thank goodness I called!!! Always had good experiences in past but this was horrible from start to finish!!!

If i could give 0 stars, i would.

Had to go to this ER twice in one week for severe nausea, pain, and dehydration.
Sent here the first time - due to ongoing symptoms, and was seen within 10 mins of arrival. There wasn't anyone in waiting room, though someone else came in after my arrival and was taken right back. Nonetheless, the triage nurse checked me out and placed me immediately in a room. Blood work and IV was done promptly and also given a "barf bag" for the interim. The dr was in pretty early and said tests would be needed once i had some fluids, which initially went ok. The CT scan process was questionable, since I had a reaction to the contrast, but that was tended to with a benadryl shot. There were delays between the tests, which was understandable, but so far (it seemed) so good. Then went was sent to get an Ultrasound, and was basically left to wait in hall for 30-45 mins. It was starting to get late in day, so that may be a factor. The tech who completed my scan ultimately brought me back. Then a new dr popped in the room (not as friendly or detailed as the prior). Said to follow up w a surgeon to get it removed in a yr. The nurse also switched and was far less friendly. The meds weren't explained but still felt better than earlier in day.

Fast forward to the weekend- have more meds added as they rec'd additional test results. The nurse calls to say i need to add these in- i ask her about the others and she rudely says she only knows about the new.
Meanwhile, my nausea has returned and increased in intensity- and total loss of appetitive.

The following week (not even 7 days from prior visit)- i ended back in the ER. It was super early in the morning, so no PCP, urg care, etc- plus saw the "coffee grind" specks in my nausea.

Anyway- had a friend drive me to the ER, as I can't drive- can barely sit up. The ER is pretty busy- not super packed, but definitely more than 2-3 ppl.
Check in and surprisingly get called in for triage quickly. The nurse sees my BP is quite elevated and says rooms are being cleaned but she'd get me into one quickly. Also asks if i could give a urine specimen. This was an issue the prior week (until i had an IV)- this time, not too much. I learned later they ran a tox screen on me before anything else

Went back to waiting area- and another lengthy wait before being called into another room for blood work, which was a nightmare. The nurse complained about having a hurt foot nonstop. She also roughly handled both my arms and complained about my veins. (I'm not an easy stick)
After 3 attempts she did get blood. Then sent me back to the waiting area. My friend repeatedly asked for assistance and finally after 3 hrs, i was given a "room". It was quite a contrast from the prior week. This room had no sink, no barf bags (i was still vomiting throughout) nor any lights.
Turned out they put me in a "BH" room as it was overflow. Was given a flimsy blanket and had a male nurse who acted like i was hard of hearing. He was speaking so loud it rang in the room. This may be his normal voice as i heard him in other rooms. He unsuccessfully attempted an IV - blowing a vein in process. Ended up calling a "medic" for the ultrasound IV which was placed in my arm. Also- the meds given this time were Benadryl and an anti-psych. Why would someone who's in for nausea be given this? The dr came in and said (rudely) that it was probably just a stomach issue. Referred to my prior week's visit and said i could go once the IV was done. My nausea never stopped but was discharged after roughly an hr or so. A new nurse (same male from the prior week) came in - took out my IV and gave me a stack of papers for discharge. I was told to turn left and just follow to exit.
Ended up walking up to Emergency Exit and setting it off accidently (very very drowsy) and told i could wait outside as my friend was en route back.
Very horrible experience compared to the prior week.
Fast forward 2 days- ended up having surgery due to the situation at a non-Novant facility with a dramatically different experience.

I don't know if what happened at Novant HMC was isolated to the ER or if it's indicative of HMC itself, or Novant, but the experience changed my opinion of Novant as a whole. I definitely will not return to HMC

tLDR- go to HMC at your own risk. The ER staff as a whole are questionable.

so the other day I was feeling all indigestiony and a little allergie so I went to bed early... woke up occasionally and burped for the heartburn and went back to sleep feeling better. then around 5:00am I had some jaw pain which was new! so I drove to the urgent care and was informed I was having a full on heart attack (which explained a lot) a brief discussion and an quick ambulance ride down I-77 found me at hospital getting one stent put in right off and on schedule for a second Tuesday morning in lieu of breakfast (scrambled eggs, dry toast (my choice) turkey sausage, fruits, and thin coffee.)
got sent home Wednesday after a second (successful!) go at breakfast feeling several times more better but still kinda weak - apparently having 100% to 90% artery blockage is not really a good thing...
In between I was running up a tab in ICU where the staff is attentive and abundant and well mannered, and then in regular CU where the staff and amenities are a little less intense. the food was better than rumored with a couple options for each meal plus a choice of beverage.
kinda scary waiting for the bill but it beats dying so five stars for that!

blood oxygen sensor thing and one of several tubes stuck into my arm...
breakfast: scrambled egg, grits, turkey sausage, seasony taters, thin decaf coffee, cold water, hot water for tea, and a banana

We have never waited less than 5 hours at this ER. They're ALWAYS short staffed and do not communicate with their patients. I would leave ZERO stars if the app allowed.

If i could give zero stars i would. The Er was dirty, completely unorganized and the wait times are astounding. This is huntersville but felt like an inner city trauma center and they are also completely understaffed (i feel bad for the completely overworked staff although nurses were incredibly rude with me) - i left with conflicting information and no help given: they were out of beds and stacking people that needed to be admitted in the er. This is aCrisis as our infrastructure has not kept up with the influx of people and the awful realization that if you really need help , you are out of luck and urgent care centers will not see you if you are recovering from covid and my primary doc would not get me in for a week all the while suffering.

I sure wish someone from novant would read this but probably nobody cares anyway. I am sure it is going from bad to worse at this point.

While the lobby staff are friendly and welcoming, I am in pain like I've only experienced once in my life. I've now been in the waiting room for 2 hours. No explanations or communication.

With 3 kids I've been to plenty of hospitals but this is my worst experience ever.

Had a surprisingly good experience with the ED after smashing my foot. All the staff were very kind and I was in-and-out in an hour with X-RAYs, wound care and follow up.
