Unfortunately, after 12 years with Dr Cook I have switched dentists. The new office staff is difficult to work with, emailing incorrect appointment dates/times, inflexible with fees for family emergencies (first missed appointment in 12 years!), and staff is generally unfriendly. Office manager did not seem bothered to be losing patients.

The new location isn't great, building is old and parking lot is very small with no turnaround. No issues with Dr Cook but lots of choices for great dentists in San Diego with professional office staff!

Nicol was my previous Dentist, and without even advising me the entire office moved (she joined another dentist) and didn't even advise me. I drove to the old crappy location with the scary driveway to find a letter on the door advising of their new location, This is after she advised & pushed me to get a bunch of crowns, (I'm guessing the rush was so she can semi-retire & move.

But the greatest part is that we've found a new Awesome Dentist just a block from our house!

I've suffered from TMJ/TMD for most of my adult life to the point where neck, shoulder and back tension, tension headaches, jaw pain and tooth sensitivity were an everyday occurrence. Over the years I sought care from acupuncturist, chiropractors, massage therapists, dentists and TMJ/TMD specialists. A variety of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions (IM injections of muscle relaxants, oral muscle relaxers, antidepressants, ECT treatments, exercise, meditation, mindfulness) only provided temporary relief. Additionally, I wore through THREE different "night guards." One of which was an "at-home DIY" guard and the last two were professionally cast by dentists.

A year ago I visited a dentist who sent me off with a night guard and a prescription for antidepressants. I was so confused about the relevance of the medication and was not sure how they were related to the TMJ/TMD. In about two months, the night guard was warped and all of the associated symptoms of muscle tension and headaches returned.

After searching for a TMJ/TMD specialist in San Diego I came across Dr Cook. The treatment plan was extensive, detailed and meticulous. Dr Cook didn't just cast a piece of plastic and send me on my way a week later. There was an initial consultation, fees discussed, a sleep study (because for the first time Dr Cook explained that the anatomy of my airway and my sleep quality contributed to the grinding/clenching), imaging, in-office electromyogram (to measure muscle contractions at rest and while clenched) and dental work to correct the bite so that an orthodic could be made. Dr Cook was the first dentist to tie together sleep quality, anatomy and pathology and actually EXPLAIN how they contribute to TMJ/TMD.

The road to recovery was long and Dr Cook and her staff were professional, courteous and accommodating the entire time. She was so meticulous that she made adjustments down to the very millimeter- and for someone who'd tried everything to no avail for years, I was relieved by her level of dedication.

Thank you Dr Cook, Dawn, Maria and all of the staff. Since having the orthodic my sleep has improved, my energy level during the day is better, I'm not wearing my teeth down and I feel so much better!

Awesome experience at the dentistry, Dr. Nicol is professional, skillful with her work and treated me with utmost care. I had to get several crowns done and the entire process was smooth, pain free and quick. She explained where the problem was, the options I have with photos and description of why the treatment was recommended. She takes the time to respond with patience and courtesy. Here entire staff is equally well trained, respectful and professional. Glad to have Dr. Nicole as my dentist.

I had the BEST experience at this dentist office from the moment I walked in till the moment I left. Everyone was super kind, super friendly and very knowledgeable. Shout out to Dr. Cook for taking good care of me and helping make the best recommendations for my teeth. If you are in the market for a new dentist, I highly recommend this place.

Best dentist and dental hygiene staff I've seen in my long life. A small and personal office, Dr. Cook helps me keep my teeth & gums healthy at low cost despite my poor home hygiene maintenance. You know a dentist is good when you hardly remember getting the numbing shots - I hate needles. Been seeing Dr Cook and hygienist Cora over 10 years. Sometimes I do dose asleep in the chair as they seem to strive to for a low stress operation and play relaxing music on Pandora. I've sent several friends to see Dr. Cook over the years. They have done heroic dentistry to save some of my teeth when I ask, but always after giving me the various treatment options. Overall a good dentistry office if you are looking for a relaxing and low cost treatment option.

I've been coming here for a little over a year and I love it! Maria and Dawn at the front are always cheery and welcoming at each visit. I appreciate them always taking the time to find an appointment that best fits my schedule. I had Lupita today for my hygienist and she was great! Very gentle and thorough. Most importantly, Dr. Cook is nice and very knowledgeable. I like how she takes the time to make sure I understand any issues and is patient in answering all of my many questions . I'm so glad to have found a dental office where I love everyone because I normally hate going to the dentist .

The staff at Dr. Cook's Office is most friendly and personal which makes going to the dentist's office a pleasant experience. Dr. Cook is very thorough and knowledgeable about dentistry and makes recommendations with detailed photos which are extremely helpful in making decision what needs to be done in terms of priority.

I've been going to Dr. Cook for nearly ten years now and cannot rave enough about her dentistry. As someone who has a very small mouth and lots of gum-related issues, I greatly appreciate her gentle approach to dental care. Her office is relaxing and focused on good patient care. The staff who work here are equally accommodating. Before I started seeing Dr. Cook, I dreaded going to the dentist. That hasn't been the case for nearly a decade. I highly recommend her!
