As the saying goes the early bird catches the biggest worm, had to get there early to beat the rush. Got here and got #1, within minutes I was called. Registered got my fingerprints done and literally was out in 25 mins.

But I would like to say everyone were very professional at each station from metal detectors, to checking us in, to registering us to the actual finger printing. Each person I dealt with varied themselves in a professional manner.

Makes me feel good when you can do to any establishment and feel welcomed.

Am I running out of places to review or do I just truly want to express my honest and deliberate feelings on various, fine (and not so fine) establishments throughout this great city of ours? Maybe it's a mix of both. Here I go:

This review is for the FOIL Unit, Legal Bureau. This is basically a police record and report archive and this is where you need to go if you want to physically pick up a copy of your needed documentation. I'll spare the details of what the police report was needed / about (we were the "plaintiffs" not the "defendants") but I wanted to make sure we were physically about to collect this thing and have it once and for all (we had previously sent it the request, but it was never processed, ergo it wasn't ever even received.)

The area is a bit of a shitshow coming off the FDR by car. Took a wrong turn, ended up on the BK Bridge. I digress. No parking, $16 for 20 mins at a parking garage. Ridiculous. Buuuuut no parking!

Came back around, I got dropped off and I asked about half a dozen of POs where the damn entrance was and I was able to be dutifully pointed in the right direction every time. This place is HUGE. It's open and pretty secured of now with Covid.

Finally made my way through security. This was basically a very late appointment at this time due to the crazy traffic (hello, it was 2:30pm on a Wed) and the wrong turn. So I was trying to beat the clock and was so ready to plead my way into getting the damn report!

Everyone was super courteous. Everyone was nice and helpful. No complaints. I made it and got my report! Thank you, NYPD FOIL Unit.

This is the main police department in New York! It is with him that you most likely should start contacting the police if you want your appeal to be processed as competently as possible and transferred to the necessary departments!

I just want to say to all the Police, Fire and Rescue, thanks for all you are doing for the COVID-19. You all mean so much to everyone around the world. Also say to give thanks to the 911 call center. You all are overwhelmed right now, but there will be light at the end of the tunnel. Please be safe

Is kind of hidden. But is pretty big.
You have to enter first into like a small place so they check you out like the airport, then you will have to print a tag with your name etc, when you are inside, they print another label for you to go where you are heading.
      Staff was friendly and helpful.
I had like an intraining person and made everything extremely slow.
Overall didn't have to wait that long.
However they do take like 10 days to give you certificates of good conduct.

The donuts weren't good today! They weren't fresh and they didn't taste as good as they usually do. Not to mention that they took a long time to prepare. Select few actually were burnt and baked too long. I just hope that in a couple of years this (donut) institution becomes better and doesn't try and murder black people simply for the color of their skin! Hope the donuts are better next time!!

The staff at NYPD Headquarters need to attend a seminar on ageism. My mother had to stop by to complete paperwork for a crossing guard position and when she struggled with entering her pass code, one of the employees literally said to her "This is why people should not apply for a job after a certain age."

My mother was humiliated and made to feel like she should not be able to apply for or have a job as a 50 year old woman, all because she miss-typed a passcode.

I went to 152-A for fingerprinting for a background check and was totally blown away by how friendly everyone was. Getting through security, getting a visitors pass, filling out the paperwork, paying, and actually getting fingerprinted took about an hour and - get this - was a pleasant experience.

People were super helpful and even made pleasant small talk. It's rare to experience such great customer service anywhere, so to have such a great experience from a government agency was a shocker. The most difficult thing was finding the building (it's in the plaza behind the Brooklyn Bridge/Chambers subway station in the Municipal Building).

Also, if you're into brutalist architecture, this building is a gem. I really wanted to explore but was kind of terrified that I'd get tackled by security if I took photos.
