Brought my vehicle in at around 4:30pm to get a diagnostic done on my vehicle, which I believed to have had an exhaust leak - and was met outside by a group of middle aged white men. One of them approached me and said, "yeah?" (Welcoming, I know), to which I responded that I needed to get my vehicle looked at. He chuckled patronizingly and said "yeah well we close in an hour so you'll have to bring it back tomorrow."
Even after letting him know that I had limped the vehicle to his shop, and that it had died multiple times along the way - he turned to me, said "don't forget to close that hood" and then walked away.
When a business owner exercises a lack of prudence in keeping their business hours adequately updated, the community which they serve suffers the most. Despite Nesloney coming well recommended from a neighbor, they have since agreed that they will not be coming back here. I'd admonish every person reading this review to save yourself time, money, and a headache and just taking your vehicle somewhere that treats you with dignity and appreciates your business, and I can assure you that Nesloney Auto Repair is not it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Well I am not really sure where you imagined this story but let me address your comments in your review. First when you walked up there were 2 customers and one of my techs out front discussing a vehicle they were leaving and only I approached you and I said "hello ... Can I help you?" You then told me your car would not go over 10 mph. I asked if you would like to leave your vehicle with us, Your answer was you were going have to "hop" to somewhere that can work on it tonight. I said ok and saw your hood unlatched and noted not to drive it that way. You never said a word about stalling or anything else when I spoke to you. I never address our customers with "yeah!" like you describe, I also do not guess at or rush thru our diagnosis of today's vehicles, it leads to mistakes. I only walked away when you turned and pulled your phone out in search of your next place to go I assume. As for me being a "middle aged white guy" I would agree that is the only correct part of your statement, I am also a little fat but luckily you left that part out. What this actually is would be a case of an impatient person not getting what they want immediately is my thought of why you are posting your review. My hours of operation are clearly posted on any online presence I am aware of. But again they are 7:30 to 5:30 Monday thru Friday. As they have been for many many years. A phone call would of cleared up any confusion of how we operate and when I could look at your car. I and my staff very much appreciate our customers especially the ones that allow us enough time to do complete diagnosis and repair to their vehicles. You sir by showing up at the last hour of the day not willing or unable to leave your vehicle with us makes it very difficult to do any quality repair or Diagnosis for you. So the appreciation you spoke of would need to go both ways, in that you appreciate the time expense and effort we have invested to give you the same treatment we give everyone so that we can appreciate your trust in us to repair your car honestly and as fairly as possible. The Dignity issue is also a two way street. I never the whole time you were here did I do anything to not show you dignity, but honor and respect which is the definition of dignity was never not shown to you while you were here. Your comment about middle aged white guys shows your respect for others. Maybe one should look at ones self for that answer. I will still be happy to look at your vehicle if you needed us to do that, but you would still be required to leave it with us to do so. I hope you find the quick and easy diagnosis and repair you were searching for and have a good day.

This business was recommended to me by my family and neighbors. I stopped by at approximately 2:30pm on 2/27/18 to find out what was wrong with my car. I was advised by Eric it was my starter and was quoted $800. to replace it. ($425 for the part and $375 for labor) I was also advised he would have to keep the car and it wouldn't be ready until noon the following day. Having replaced a starter before myself, I left and advised the shop that I was going to get a second opinion. I pulled in to an auto repair shop down West Ave and asked them what they would charge to replace my starter and was quoted $385. ($295 for the part, $95 for labor) I left my car with them at 3pm and it was ready by 4:30pm.
I told my family and friends about the gouging attempt by Nesloney Auto and it is no longer a business they or I would recommend. Buyer beware!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Tammy and thanks for your response to the estimate I gave you. I am happy that the starter I diagnosed for you fixed your problem. I also explained that the starter I was quoting you was the factory original new starter, not a rebuilt, the labor I quoted you was what the labor guide showed for that job. You had informed me that you also had just had someone else install a battery that you said "did not fix your problem". I am glad I helped you at least figure out what was the actual issue with your starting problem that week. We take our time to do it right when we fix cars. you were watching a youtube video of a starter repair when I gave you the estimate if you remember I joked about being "youtube certified". there are always people that will do things for less money. That does not mean you get the same result or value for your money spent. There are always ways to cut corners I usually dont do that when I am working with other peoples money. I hope your starter keeps working and hopefully it was done correctly. I am glad I could help you without you ever spending a penny in my shop. As with any poor review we have. They all have come from people who have never used our services or spent any money here. We are honest about what we do and why we think you need the repairs we perform. Good luck to you and any future cars problems you may have.

I had had an oil change at a different facility and lo and behold, they broke the oil dipstick and didn't bother to say anything. My husband discovered it right before I was headed on an out of town trip and he was checking all the fluids in my car -- couldn't check the oil because the tip of the dipstick had broke off and couldn't get the stick out. I went to Nesloney Auto Repair to see if Eric could help and somehow when we popped the hood and closed the car door, we realized we had just locked the keys inside. Eric immediately got his guys working on the dipstick issue while he went to work on getting my car unlocked. Both issues were solved rather quickly and a new dipstick was ordered and installed shortly after. I was so thankful to Eric and his crew of great guys!

I took a car here for pre-purchase inspection and both Eric and Craig gave me their honest opinion about the car that I was about to purchase. Great guys, very knowledgeable and provide me with an exceptional service. I will definitely come back here again and recommend their shop to my friends and family.

I called Nesloney Auto Repair because I was looking to purchase a used vehicle. I asked them if there was any way I could bring the vehicle in on the same day for a pre-purchase inspection. They were very accommodating with my last-minute request and told us to come by.
Bringing the vehicle by Nesloney was the best decision I could have made. Clay and Eric immediately evaluated the vehicle I brought in. They visually inspected the whole vehicle, checked engine codes, took a close look under the hood at fluids and the engine. As it turns out, the vehicle was not in the condition promised by the dealer. There were many underlying issues that I would not have noticed that were obvious to Eric and Clay. I decided not to purchase the car after being informed by Nesloney and I can not be more thankful that they enlightened me to the issues.
Thank you for they help Nesloney, I will be a returner.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mario G.San Marcos, TX1161Apr 13, 2021
I approached this place in need of a car inspection, I came across by recommendation from a friend. As I approached one of the employees came up to me and asked if I needed help. I said yes I just need an inspection. He replied with "I would but I'm about to go on a lunch break and I won't be back till 3-4pm.... I drove in like at 1:25. The guy wasn't on break yet. He refused to give me service because he was about to take a 2-2.5 hr lunch break? Wow. Is he the owner? I doubt it, he was a younger brown hair light complected kid who seemed very lazy. While another taller short hair employee was just standing inside staring out the window. So do they decide when to go and come back? Was the shop not going to be running while he was out? Was he the only one there? No effort into trying to get a simple job done. No effort in taking care of the customer. Terrible experience with in the first 30 seconds driving in. I would hope the owner reads this and realizes his employees are pushing away business from what could have been a repeating customer.

Hello Mario I am terribly sorry that you were here and My employee was literally walking out the door to go to lunch. The statement you made about him being lazy is also incorrect. He shows up every day and is usually the first one here in the morning so you are wrong about that part. We take lunch from 1:30pm To 2:30 pm every day. He walked out to catch you because he was trying to save you the walk in the door for the same message. I am also sure he did not tell you to come back in 2 and 1/2 hours as we only take an hour for lunch. The problem is the inspection takes 15 to 20 mins to do so if he does yours then more show up while he is there doing yours and it makes it where they dont get to leave for lunch. I am not going to address any more of your questions because it is pointless because you are just being rude because you did not get what you wanted immediately, but I will say that we do care about our customers. I am sorry you were inconvenienced for an hour to get your inspection. Hopefully you also realize that my employees are entitled to a lunch break as well as you are at your job. We have this issue everyday and we deal with it the best way possible, usually we get the lunch hour rush done then they go to lunch after that. But today it turns out the keyboard warrior was upset with us because he did not get what he wanted the exact second he showed up. Thanks and have a good day and I hope you were able to get your $7.00 dollar inspection done quickly.

I brought my car in recently because it had just hit the 100,000 mile mark and quite frankly, had a lot of issues. I am a student in San Antonio, so with my parents living in different cities, having a working car is important. Eric talked to my dad over the phone and worked through all the issues. He was fair on price and got the job done in a pretty short amount of time, keeping us updated through the whole process. Nesloney Auto Repair is a good place to bring your car when you want to get your money's worth.
I'll also add that my brakes went out last fall and they fixed them to the same degree of service.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erik P.Baltimore, MD01Sep 9, 2019
I was in San Antonio on vacation when I noticed my rear differential was leaking. I called up Nesloney due to the close proximity to me. Eric was very courteous and got me in right away. He and his team found the issue, gave me honest information and explained the issues while showing me the defective parts. I would recommend this place if you're having vehicle troubles.

This place was a lifesaver! My family was on a long exhuasting move from Virginia to El Paso and had stopped in San Antonio to visit a friend along the way. My daughter's check engine light came on so we went to one auto repair place (name I do not remember) where they recommended this place. Eric took the car right in and called about an hour later to say what the issues were. He told us the price to have it fixed and had us ready to get back on the road in a matter of a few hours, even after having to order a replacement part. His shop is small, but it was obvious that he cares about customer service. He didn't have a bunch of cars sitting around like most small auto repair shops do. I'm pretty sure our experience was typical of the type of service he puts forth. Would definitely recommend this place to people in the San Antonio area!
