What a wonderful first month. I have been to other gyms and really like some things about this one.
First is the people. Great group of folks that range from super elite to folks like me.
Second, The Kickstarter is a series of five small 1:1 sessions to assess your fitness and allow you to quickly become a butt kicking class member. This is done by testing strength, flexibility, and endurance.
Last is the level program that allows everyone to do the same workout while having modifications built in based on the assessments mentioned above. This has the added benefit of the trainers being able to meet you where you are.
I showed up because of word of mouth and would love to pay that forward. It is worth coming in and see for yourself. Ask lots of questions and see if you are not impressed by the team!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jim S.Downtown, Memphis, TN112329Jun 21, 2014
I've been in and out of gyms all over our great nation the past 18 years. Since walking in to NBS Fitness 2.5 years ago my life has changed for the better in all outlets. If your looking to blow your competition out of the water in any form of athletics and competitive sports this is your one stop shop.
Need an elite level program and or a diet plan this is your gym.

A serious training gym for people who want results. Open 24-hours, NBS recently moved next door to a newly remodeled building. Clean environment and well maintained equipment. Onsite credentialed trainers can work with you 1-on-1, or you can join a fitness workshop. I've been a member for over a year, and see this place as hands-down far better than the corporate gyms. No distracting yoga or spinning classes. My quality of self-confidence has greatly increased since joining. Want even more results? Sign up with a personal trainer and their nutrition program. I've lost 14 lbs of flab and put on 10 lbs muscle in the year. Well on my way to my goals.
Staff are very friendly and supportive.. whether you're a beginner or seasoned power lifter.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tim B.Germantown, TN711Jan 13, 2015
Undoubtedly the best gym in Memphis.
There is no other gym that will routinely surround you with success and positivity.
With professionals who uphold the highest standards in their field and the experience to back it up, you will find no greater value in a gym anywhere - and a place that makes it fun as well.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Bradley L.Cordova, TN1741Nov 19, 2016Updated review
Recently, I hired Christian Anto to write a workout program for my mom, and take her through a personal training session. My mom doesn't like to exercise, but still goes to the gym twice a week because she knows that she has to. Many things have probably contributed to this, but the biggest factors may have been a lack of guidance and intimidation.
In the past, my mom has had a couple of personal training sessions with the staff at her gym. Her typical routine is to walk about a mile and a half, then try to go through some exercises that she remembers from the sessions. She was intimidated by machines because she was never taught how to set them up, so she has avoided them. Despite her best efforts, she was drifting in the wind instead of having any type of goal- much less a path to get her there.
Prior to their training session, my mom filled out a questionnaire that covered her goals, limitations, likes, dislikes, etc. They also had a brief opportunity to talk prior to the session. Christian used that information to build a program for her.
During their training session, the first thing Christian did was explain how the program was going to progress, what they were working to accomplish, and made it very clear that she was to get a hold of him if she had ANY questions or concerns. He then took her through a warm-up routine and the first day of the program. Christian explained to my mom exactly how to set up the machines that she would be using, how to perform each exercise properly, and what they were trying to accomplish with each exercise. He was very focused on every rep of every exercise, and gave easy to understand instructions throughout. For example, in a matter of minutes, Christian had my mom performing box squats with great technique, and emphasized the fact that this movement is done hundreds of times a day (every time you sit down and stand up).
By the end of the session, my mom was excited to get started on her new program. She has a program to follow that will lead her to accomplishing several short term goals, she understands how to set up the machines and gym equipment, and she has a resource for any questions and concerns. Christian was able to easily and effectively explain everything to her, give her focus and understanding in the gym, and eliminate any confusion or intimidation that she previously felt in a gym. In closing, Christian Anto made my mom very comfortable and confident working out in a hardcore powerlifting gym, so how do you think she's going to feel going back to her commercial gym when she gets back home?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 13, 2015Previous reviewI began training at NBS Fitness during the early part of 2014. I was training at another gym with my family, and needed a 24-hour facility to accommodate my work schedule. Several people talked about NBS Fitness, so I decided to check the place out. Afterward, I checked out another 24-hour gym in my area, which made me come running back to NBS Fitness to sign up. Not only did NBS Fitness have the equipment and atmosphere that I was looking for, but it had much more.
In less than a year at NBS Fitness, I was able to accomplish more than I have been able to at any other facility. I dropped 33lbs. in bodyweight, increased my bench 60lbs., increased my squat 100lbs., my deadlift 95lbs., and overhead press 45lbs. I've competed in my first strongman show and powerlifting meet. I've greatly increased my knowledge in nutrition and fitness. And I've become friends with a lot of fantastic people.
NBS Fitness has the best equipment, staff, members, and environment to help me improve my strength and conditioning. The equipment is the best on the market, and much of it is unlikely to be seen in any other gym in the area. The staff is very well educated and experienced, and is eager to help in any way they can. The members, from the biggest powerlifter to the grandmother of four, are happy to see you and want to help you get stronger than they are. And the gym itself is an environment that is built for nothing but hard work.
Over the past couple of years, I have gone from a sedentary lifestyle and being someone whose glory days were becoming a distant memory, to someone who is looking forward to the next training session, the next competition, and the next PR. I'm constantly working to increase my knowledge in fitness and nutrition, and sharing my knowledge and experience with others. I may have started my journey back to being healthy in one of the local corporate gyms in the area, but my getting healthy didn't truly start until I joined NBS Fitness. And as for my family membership at the other gym: we all train exclusively at NBS Fitness, now. - Kristin B.Nashville, TN152512Apr 21, 2015
If you want to get hardcore, this is where you go work out. The great thing about this gym is that even though it caters to athletes who are really dedicated to heavy lifting and serious gains, you do not have to perform on that level to work out here. But expect a macho gym feel- down to the music and the environment. I personally love that because it really gets you in the zone. You can hop on a treadmill and spend an hour not really changing your body at any ole gym, but this is NOT the place for dilly-dallying!
Very friendly atmosphere, and everyone is more than willing to help (which is great for someone like me who's a little intimidated).
It's not the gym where you go waste time- you go to NBS to get after it. The owner is very dedicated to his mission, and he (along with all the regulars!) will make sure you know your way around. It's nice to be able to approach them for advice on ways to target muscle groups and lift with proper form.
If you want to challenge yourself and surround yourself with people who take fitness very seriously, go to NBS.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Corey A.Santa Clara, CA4981Jul 9, 2017
By far the best gym in Memphis. I left because it was a decent bit out of the way from my house, and I was slowing down a little on lifting. Big mistake. If you ever try to go to another gym, you'll soon realize how spoiled you were from the equipment, staff, owner, and culture there. This place is the real deal.

Ok people, this is the premier training facility in the region. Elite powerlifters, strongmen, bodybuilders, sumo wrestlers, NFL players, military, police, firefighters all train here. All walks of life walk into these doors and forever become changed. This place has chalk, loud music, weights crashing down, professional grade equipment and the ambiance that makes you want to train, and train hard. Whether you want to just come in and do your own thing or become a high level athlete, this is where it can happen. It sounds intimidating doesn't it? Well it's not. The typical "strongest dude in the gym" is average at best here so the egos are checked at the door. Everyone is nice and willing to help. Professional training is available and the owner is extremely picky about who he hires. The amount of experience here is mind boggling. It's open 24/7 so there is no hours to worry about. Check this place out. It's hands down the best gym in the region.
