This place is amazing. Couches, food and great museums. The Leopold was our favorite but the mumok will be a hit with anyone who likes more Avant garde art.
It can be very hot here so I'd avoid the outside on very hot days. There is a little shade but it's at a premium.
There are often events here and it's a great place to hang out with a group.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1166153040Apr 20, 2017
Museumsquartier MQ is great place for the people who like art and museum. There are couple cool museums located right at this place. When the weather is warmer/better, they will even pull out the very designate chairs for the visitors.
I also like the architecture style in this place. I think, you can even call it a centre of the art in Vienna. It is great place to walk around, chill with friends and get to know some interesting people.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nadia Z.Staten Island, NY8067665538Jan 10, 2014
Being in MuseumsQuartier in Vienna I feel like a kid in a candy store... Oh, boy, where do I even start?
First of all, whole set up with courtyards enclosed by various museum buildings, with seating areas and all the cafés and stages, walkways and arches is awesome.
You can walk around, visit all exhibitions, and chill on comfy plastic "chairs" in between.
Mumok, Leopold Museum, Architekturzentrum - it's modern art and architecture paradise. Even buildings themselves are impressive (mumok), nevermind the treasures inside. Picasso, Schiele, Klimt, and many, many others...
For good cup of coffee and a snack, stop at Cafe Leopold - very relaxed and easy-going atmosphere here...
You can spend almost all day at the MuseumsQuartier, easily - enjoy the art, food and drinks! Several bars open late, cafés serve drinks and food in the evening, and there are concerts and events going on in summer.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Rory R.Vienna, Austria252871162May 22, 2013
My first time here in the warmer months and its great. Various places to get food and drink and lots of space to sit and chat.
Large plastic "boxes" have been laid out for seating/lounging purposes and there is a relaxed chilled atmosphere all around. We have a drink or two at the Aloha bar and it was great and even managed to join in a pick-up boules game!
Everyone here is smiling and enjoying themselves and a studenty, quad vibe abounds.
Great place to meet up with friends and hang out for a bit!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Romain D.San Francisco, CA2247125May 3, 2015
This is a great place to relax or do work during the day.
At night groups of students and young people gather to grab dinner and drinks in the area.
Absolutely a fun place day and night!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Karynne A.Vienna, Austria3911858Aug 19, 2012
MQ is an objectively "hip" place to meet up for lunch, dinner, an evening beverage, or a night out. Think of it as a "quad" like at many universities in the U.S., only instead of being comprised of lecture halls and labs it's comprised of museums, cafes, restaurants, and museum shops (and a book store). Pretty cool, right?
At Christmastime, which is magical in Vienna, the market is very hip, for lack of another word. This market is NOT your traditional Viennese Christmas market, and I don't think there's anything for sale except beverages (mostly alcoholic - gluhwein and punsch), and some snacks. What's especially nice about the MQ Christmas market is that there are several "pods" that offer protection from the cold, with benches (akin to couches) and bowls of bar snacks (like peanuts, only sometimes not-peanuts).
During the warmer months MQ is packed during the day, and even in the evenings it draws a crowd. While the crowd tends to be younger (think late teens to early 30s), people of all ages can find something here. I really can't stress enough how HIP and modern it is (I mean, the MUMOK is right here after all). And, if you're new to Vienna and trying to think of an objectively "cool" meeting place, MQ or any one of its cafes or restaurants will serve that purpose perfectly.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Luc L.Wellington, FL6312282Oct 4, 2015
It's like museum city within the city. Modern art, architecture, design exhibitions intermingled with libraries, cafes and restaurant... Really worth a stop!

Cute little square to hang out with especially if your feet need a break from exploring the beautiful city or the museums for that matter. It's especially nice at night . It is conveniently located near many public transportation stations too which is a plus.

What a discovery, just off the Kunsthistorisches Museum you find this quarter full of museums and little alternative shops, for what I was said the official/original Lomography shop is based around here, unfortunately I tried to look around for it but could not find it but hey! I'm not explorer! ;)
At the time I was there, during the Euro 2008, on the outside of the complex there were huge football boots from all the countries, it was a quite refreshing exhibit/installation, it tells you a bit of what you can find inside. You have art galleries, restaurants, museums and as I already said, shops! It is a funky place to visit! And you can't miss it, it has a strong identity brand and it is all over Wien!
Unfortunately i did not enter any of the museums, cause moneywise Wien is very expensive, but next time I'll be there! It is actually a very cool spot to hang around, the square gets filled by young people!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (Sarah…)London, United Kingdom232612Jul 31, 2008
One of the most densely packed cultural areas ever. A feast of music and performance venues, architectural delights, and museums with a smattering of good quality eateries and shops. Was visiting to see Lemi Ponifasio's Requiem as part of the New Crowned Hope festival and happily managed to see much more besides. A slight concern about how we managed to be the centre of attention in the cafe, through the sheer effort of being the only non-German speaking people around, but, hey, that just made us feel all the more special!
