The Theater: Small local theater, every seat in the theater is great. Box office is inside the theater. Small waiting area with chairs. They do sell drinks and snacks.
The Show: Bought the tickets from Goldstar, less than $10 per ticket! "Underpants" is a comedy play. There are a few lines that are quite funny. For less than $10, it is a not so bad entertainment.
The Parking: Street metered parking and the parking lot at the community clinic close by.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 1572802129Jan 30, 2024Updated review
Go! Definitely go!
I have been to so many plays here and the seats are comfortable enough for 2 hours.
They have a snack bar with beverages.
Women's bathroom has 3 stalls so expect a line.
Great shows. Wonderful people!
Have a good time!!!Helpful 13Thanks 3Love this 14Oh no 0Jul 9, 2022Previous reviewI saw another great show tonight. They are performing Rogers & Hammerstein's updated version of Cinderella! It's playing for 3 weekends!
The costumes are fantastic and colorful! The cast is amazing with beautiful singing with lyrics that I remember from my childhood.
There is equally wonderful choreography accompanying the music and comedy.
Be sure to see it before it dances away!Nov 10, 2021Previous reviewI've been going to this theatre for a few years now and the shows are worth the price of a ticket.
I love comedies and musicals and sometimes dramas. They have it all!
My child has performed in a few shows and this latest musical has them in a starring role.
Enjoy the music and excitement of a live musical!

Stepping into the realm of reconstruction at the Morgan-Wixson Theatre, one can't help but feel a pang of lament for what's temporarily obscured.
Assessing its allure amidst the ongoing transformation poses a challenge, yet the appeal of its location remains undeniable. Convenience intertwines with charm, bolstered by ample parking that enhances accessibility.
What sets the Morgan-Wixson Theatre apart is its modest scale, paradoxically heightening its allure and intrigue. Unlike its grandiose counterparts, this intimate space holds the potential to offer unique opportunities for theatrical showcases or musical performances once the renovations are complete.

Got to see the production of In The Heights here in July 2023 and what a cool little theatre this was!
You could definitely feel the sense of community, especially when they highlighted members of the audience that had been serving/performing at this theatre for 40+ years. The performance we saw featured a short Q&A with the cast and crew after the performance which was super insightful and a delightful bonus.
For a small, community theatre, the set pieces were well-made and the talent was exciting and engaging. Definitely gonna keep my eyes on future productions to check out!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 15, 2023
I came across a limited engagement play on Goldstar (Mothers & Sons) for free (other than paying a 6.00 service fee per ticket) and decided what the heck (Santa Monica isn't one of my favorite cities due to all of the congestion). I was a bit apprehensive as well regarding the parking; however, there is free parking at the clinic across the street half an hour prior to the performance. Being it was on Mother's Day there was hardly any traffic nor people at the play so it was a win/win!
Theatre is very old but quite big and seating was surprisingly comfortable for its age (not a bad seat in the house either). Complimentary mimosas were being served since it was Mother's Day and staff was very friendly and helpful. Another plus about this location is if you choose to ride the metro rail it's within a 3/4 mile walking distance from the 26th St and Bergamot station.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Venice A.Venice, CA017Mar 24, 2024

We just love the Morgan-Wixson Theatre. It is located in Santa Monica and there are some good places for lunch or dinner nearby. You can't take food into the theater and there is usually no concessions, so eat before you go.
This is a semi-professional theater and the cast is always great. The shows for kids are amazing, called the YES program and the adult or all family shows are wonderful.
We have been several times now and we have never had anything but a great time.
The prices are reasonable, just go to their website to find what is playing.
The customer service is just the best. I think it is mostly a volunteer staff and they are just wonderful.
There is not a bad seat in the house. It is a small theater, maybe holding 300 or so people. You will feel safe there because they still ask you to wear your mask-thank goodness. The seats are comfortable and the place is always super clean.
Parking is free in a lot about 300 feet from the front of the theater or there is street parking, but mind the signs.
We just love this place and you will to.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0Apr 15, 2019Previous reviewThe Morgan-Wixson Theatre, located right on Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica is a wonderful venue. It is small, maybe holding a couple hundred people. The seats are comfortable and the place is well maintained. It appears to be run by some volunteers and paid employees. They are very welcoming and will assist you in any way needed. Park on the street if you can, but mind the signs. There is also free parking in a lot right near by. I brought my 12 year old grandson to see Little Shop of Horrors. He loved every minute as did I.
At the Morgan you can buy snacks and sodas etc. but note you can only take water into the theater. The prices for everything are reasonable. We were comfortable, felt super safe and had a great time. You can leave the building during intermission if you want. The staff is very kind. Our tickets were at Will Call, as most are, and this wonderful woman with a clip board, went and got them for us--how sweet is that. She also talked to us during intermission to make sure all was going great. There were some volunteers that were so helpful in finding our seats and just being so welcoming. The staff is great.
The musical, Little Shop of Horrors, itself was fabulous. Each performer was at the top of their game. This is LA so I am not shocked that a small theater has great actors, singers and dancers. This show was just as fun as one we have seen at very expensive theaters. The main 3 female singers for this show were just magic. All of the players were. I would tell you to go see it, but I think the run may be over (call them). They have a full schedule for other plays and musicals, some for adults, some for the whole family.
I suggest this theater for anyone, be you a local or a visitor. You will love the professional cast, the great sound, the seats, the staff and you will not go broke. My grandson and I go to musicals all the time, he is a season pass holder to one of the bigger theaters in Hollywood. He loved this venue just as much as the bigger ones and the players were, as I said, great. We will be back. Have a great time. - Oct 2, 2022
My friend got 2 tickets to The Wild Party because her hair stylist couldn't make it tonight. We sat in the front row. It was a nice view. The production was really nice. All the actors and actresses did really well. No photo and video allowed during performance. There is a 20 mins intermission. The show lasted roughly 2 and half hour. They made a good impression for our first time at morgan-wixson theatre.
Parking: we parked on the street.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mel C.Los Angeles, CA0261Feb 4, 2023
WONDERFUL!!! It was my first time there, and I was simply amazed at the talent of every single performer on stage! The voices were good and the fun dance moves kept it lively and fun throughout! What a delightful show! Thank you!

Have been seeing shows at the Morgan-Wixon for many years, and have been impressed with the quality. Now I see that they're starting up their main productions once again with a new show in July 2022. Very much looking forward to it.

Right off Pico, the quiet area far far away from 3rd street and main street sits Morgan Wixson Theatre. It's right across one of my favorite family Mexican restaurants, Gilberts so the perfect location for theatre on the weekends.
Pop by Gilberts for pre theatre then walk across the street in under 5 minutes to enjoy some classic plays.
This past weekend, we visited for Agatha Christie's, And Then There Were None.
The stage is wide and seating is small providing optimal viewing experience for any spot in the audience area.
Luckily for us though, we snagged front row tickets from my membership with Goldstar. The actors were alluring with talent. I completely misread how fascinating the story was going to unfold. Would recommend anyone to come by for a great night of theater.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
