Decided to try the other Thai place practically walking distance from where I live, for today's lunchtime eats. I am excited to report that I have found my new quick fix/local Thai restaurant.
Today's experience consisted of ordering a Chicken Pad Thai (spicy level: medium) for my husband. When I called the lady on the other end was super nice and the ordering process went smooth. Upon completion of my order she said the pad thai would be ready in 5 minutes?! I thought for a second -dang, that's super quick, but still waited a few minutes before picking it up. Million Thai is located in the Safeway/Rite Aid shopping center along Decoto Road. Lots of parking can be located directly in front of the restaurant. I love the Thai inspired decor throughout the restaurant.
When we arrived the owners of the restaurant greeted us. They were very personable and even offered to make a Thai dish that isn't on the menu, Avocado Curry! I will definitely be back to try other entreès and especially since the owner will cook my very own Avocado Curry! WhoOhoO!!
The chicken pad Thai here is pretty tasty! The chicken is juicy and the noodles are not overly moist from the cooking oil. From my previous pad Thai experiences, the noodles end up being too saucy and therefore soggy, but the noodles here hold up pretty well from the sauce it's cooked in. This pad Thai doesn't come with all the normal veggie fixings. Instead it just comes with peanut sprinkles, noodles and sauce with a few shallot pieces. I enjoyed the level of spice, although being only medium- I broke out with a slight forehead sweat, which I love!
I shall return here soon...Helpful 21Thanks 0Love this 17Oh no 0 - May 25, 2015
Was really craving Thai food so used yelp and found this place. We did come about 45 minutes till closing so not sure if this was a huge factor in our visit. There was a lot of people ordering food togo. We were quickly seated but rushed to ordered. The menu is quite extensive for a Thai place. Menu prices have been altered and change so I think they should update their menu.
Thai ice tea: lightly sweet and good. Not strong tea but more creamy and milky.
Tom kah kai: thin strips of chicken not to much ingredients so soup didnt look appealing. The broth was good and flavorful but it was just onion, chicken, mushroom, and bay leaves.
Roti with curry sauce: meh I've had better. The Roti was more flaky and too buttery to dip in their curry sauce. I personally like it a more a bread consistency. To me it was like a croissant roti. Curry sauce was good but luke warm not sure if it was the end of the day so it wasnt appealing either.
Fried garlic fish: 4 huge pieces however over salted and undercooked. It was good with steam white rice. Garlic sauce was very good with a sweet kick with chunks of garlic.
Overall i wont be back since i prefer other Thai places. I really want to like this place but it just didnt hit the spot for me.
Decor is nice and theres a wall for patrons to leave comments or reviews with post its. Service got better but not sure cause she saw us on yelp or whatever lol.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Apr 24, 2015
Spicy! And we like it!
Like everyone else says, they know how to make it spicy, and not cater to the toned down majority, for a change.
Come for the casual yet clean and welcoming atmosphere. Stay for the good selection of contemporary Thai classics, with a few of their own thrown in. Rave about the eye-watering flavors. And leave more than full and satisfied.
Oh and checking-in gets you a free Thai iced tea. Cherry-topping.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 18, 2015
A local restaurant in a strip mall that is easy to miss but worth a local visit. The menu is extensive and the service is friendly and efficient.
Food is quite tasty. We ordered the Pad Thai, which is a bit sweet and the curries (both green & yellow) pack a bit of heat (the yellow more so) even though we ordered the mild level of the heat index. All good.
Portions seem small but it is satisfying.
Craving Thai, in the neighborhood, give it a go.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sean C.Fremont, CA103214882964May 15, 2016
Silver Glass Noodle Salad hits about a million taste buds, and it has commanded my respect. I've been in the Bay Area for a year, and I haven't found a single restaurant with this dish -- this version spicy, jubilant, igniting -- that rivals the quality of this one. All my memories of Thai Town Los Angeles came full circle following a few bites into this one.
With that said, most of the rest of the menu is only moderately good. I do think it's a laugh that so many other reviews have raved over the Pad Thai, which has noodles that are spaghetti-thin and sauce prefab. At least their curries are something of a unique's chef spin.
There are seems to be a family generation of different aged women waiting on tables, and their experience -- and wisdom -- with customers seem to be mixed depending on age. One was baffled how to handle accommodating two babies in our party, yet later on, we got the right amount of attention and special treatment. I've been here twice now, and I've had some big and nice moments with some slightly baffling moments shuffled in. It has taken one special dish, and a lovely older waitress to make my son smile to get me hooked to coming back in. Located in Union City. #foodslutHelpful 17Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0 - Oct 12, 2013
Officially my go to spot for my pad kee mao (probably the only thing I order at Thai restaurants). The decor isn't fancy, the prices are normal ($7.95 for noodle dish), but what really makes this place deserve a 4 star review is the service. They workers are absolutely kind and humble, always smiling and asking if we are happy with the foods.
I order pad kee Mao spicy (heat level range from no spice to thai hot) and boy was it spicy. It came out red and thought it was hot sauce, but I think its a special sauce they use for flavor. It was probably one of the most flavorful pad kee mao I've ever had, it had a mixture of pad Thai and basil and garlic taste. We seriously couldn't stop eating it and the spice was just perfect. My bf thought my dish was too spicy for him but he really loved the flavor of it, so he kept eating till he couldn't take the heat.
My bf had the million thai noodle medium spice, tasted like chicken pho my mom makes. He didn't know it was a soup dish. It was okay but for the $10.95 price, my bf wasn't satisfied, the portions were pretty small and it had almost no flavor. I think that's the only thing that we werent satisfied with. Medium spice is pretty darn spicy for the average person, so watch out people!
We will definitely be back, we WANT to support this local family run establishment. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the workers are beyond friendly. Do support by trying out this local Thai restaurant guys!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Maggie X.Houston, TX1454766741Sep 1, 2015
I read in another review that Million Thai Cuisine feels like a Thai grandmother's kitchen, and I really couldn't agree more. The feel of the restaurant is rustic, no-frills, and casual. The restaurant itself is located in a decently spacious plaza, and seating inside is comfortable. Unfortunately the tables were a tad sticky in the sort of way restaurants are sometimes. Service was fine with no glitches.
Pad See Ew with beef:

This version of Pad See Ew was made with very elastic wide noodles, and they were somewhat unevenly coated with sauce. The beef had good flavor, but it was a little dry; I didn't quite mind this, as it showed the meat wasn't coated with starch, but the tenderness didn't lend for palatable texture. I will say that I like my noodle dishes rather saucy, and this was just on the less-than-saucy side for me.
Pad Thai with shrimp:

If the Pad See Ew was not saucy enough, this was amazingly saucy. This version of Pad Thai was one of the most acidic I've had yet, and I rather liked the vinegary sting of sauce coating each strand of noodle. The shrimp were cooked well and quite tender, and it was a nice pairing with the vinegary noodles.
I'd be interested in stopping by again if I'm in the area, but only for the Pad Thai.. and hopefully with no canker sores at the time.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - Madhuri P.San Luis Obispo, CA3078046Aug 18, 2015
I've been living in the bay for almost 3 years now and finally I've found my go-to Thai place. The portions are big, the service is pretty quick and the servers are very attentive.
I think I'll just stick to ordering main dishes here, I came here with a friend once and we opted for appetizers since we weren't that hungry. We got the fish cakes and chicken wings, unfortunately we were disappointed with both dishes. The chicken wings were plain and boring and the fish cakes were soaked and dripping with oil.
My favorite dish would have to be their crispy basil chicken with noodles. It's sooooooooo yummy OMG. You're basically given a plate of flat noodle fried with egg topped with a really good amount of popcorn chicken tossed in a spicy basil sauce, super simple but really good. Their pad kee mao is very delicious as well and their pad thai is the only pad thai I'll eat.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 18, 2015Updated review
Brought a six-person party and they accommodated us in a private corner by the front window. They also waived corkage when we wanted to open up two bottles of Riesling (although I think I would've preferred a light red instead). The food and service are consistent with the first time I visited. We didn't order anything Thai hot but some of us said they would next time just to try.
Drunken noodle - very spicy but good
Green curry - the most popular dish, people couldn't stop eating it
Yellow curry - good flavor but it's the least spicy curry and thus pales in comparison
Coconut rice - very fragrant
Japanese fries - a bit soggy
Crab Pad Thai - good but their regular Pad Thai beats Sala Thai and other places' versions
Garlic fish - tender but not enough sauce this time
After this meal, I find myself still partial to their red / Penang curry and regular Pad Thai. Parking is really easy so I would love to see them find their niche in this crowded market.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Apr 18, 2015Previous reviewRecommended by my Thai teacher who loves their garlic fish, Penang curry and Pad Thai. They offer different degrees of spiciness and I think the Pad Thai is miles ahead of the fares in Mountain View. They're still pretty new so it's never packed and parking is really easy in the strip mall. Very sweet waitresses who are patient and lets us enjoy the food without much interference.

Decided to try this place to see how it compares to Thai Village Cuisine across the street and I gotta say it's pretty good.
I ordered take-out for my family. I ordered the chicken pad thai (spicy), crab pad thai (medium), and basil crispy chicken noodle (medium). All of the food was great and flavorful, but the basil chicken with the noodles was amazing! Pad thai is usually my go-to item, but wow this is my new favorite Thai dish!
Warning! Only ask for spicy if you can take the heat! Medium is quite spicy, but still enjoyable whereas spicy can become an ordeal if not prepared. Definitely worth a try if you want a lot of food for a cheaper price and the Crab Pad Thai has lots of big chunks of crab which is awesome!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
