Back to excellent service and affordable delicious burgers.
No A/C here so if it's July-August take it with you.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jun 5, 2014Previous reviewNOTE:This review is reflective of only my most recent visit. Perhaps future visits to Mikie Burgers can earn their stars back. Here's why they've lost them:
I stopped in with my little one to pick up lunch on the way home. Mikie Burger offers 4 complete kids meals (sandwich/fries/drink) for under $4! It is by far the best deal for kids anywhere in Tacoma. The burgers are full size and the fries are more than enough for any kid under 12. Luckily- the kiddo's food was just fine.
Mine, however, was not. I ordered a Double bacon cheese burger- onions only. The manager taking my order repeated it back to me and made sure I didn't wan't any "Mikie sauce" etc. I didn't. Also- the cook was standing right there and heard my order; she also acknowledged the manager when he said reiterated "no sauce".
When our food was ready the cook repeated the order correctly as she handed me the bag. She even emphasized "onions only no sauce". As I reached in the bag to grab a couple of fries before getting in the car I noticed my burger even had "onions only" written on the wrapper.
So, I was beyond upset when I sat down at home to eat my burger and found the only onions present were those in the 1/4 cup of "Mikie sauce" that had were completely smothering either side of my burger.
When I called Mikies to inform them of the mistake, the cook answered the phone. I told her of the situation and she promptly handed the phone to the manager without telling him anything. So I repeated the situation. His response "I'm sorry, I wasn't watching my cook."
Really? She heard the order from me, acknowledged the order from you, repeated the order properly when she handed me the bag and you still have to "watch the cook"? Sounds to me like someone needs a new cook.
To the manager's credit he did offer to prepare me another burger at no charge, but I live across town and simply did not have the time to drive back. His response to this was another empty "I'm sorry". He seemed to lack any imagination regarding the resolution of the issue that addressed customer appreciation. Despite my calm demeanor throughout the conversation the manager was clearly more interested in putting any unpleasantness behind him, not in making sure I would come back.
Ultimately- I've decided to give them at least one more chance because the burgers have been so fantastic every other time. We'll see if Mikies can earn their star back.Sep 18, 2013Previous reviewI should've come here 1st.
The burgers are fantastic. The fries are simple yet perfect. The smiles are genuine.
They warn you on the menu that they value freshness over speed, but unlike most other places in Tacoma I got my order in less than 10 minutes.
Also, a double bacon cheeseburger of adequate size, fries, & a soda for $8.50 is a flippin' steal.
I'll be back for more. - Lucy J.Tacoma, WA44315Jul 3, 2014
Awesome. Best hamburger joint in Tacoma. Get out of my face with Frisko Freeze.
The Good: 1) The Mikie Burger is the best burger in Tacoma. There is no contest between this place and Frisko Freeze or Dicks in Seattle as far as I'm concerned. 2) Fries...addicting and salty and LOTS of them. Seriously, it's hard to finish these suckers even though I always want to. 3) Shakes? Yes, ma'am. (hey...a boozy shake might be a nice addition to the menu-- nah...never mind, there good just the way they are. 4) Frozen custard. I don't order this very often, but when I do it's very good. Try the butter pecan. 5) Service is always friendly and they are a lot faster than they used to be when they were across the street. 6) Price. Fair. It won't break the bank.
The Bad: 1) the parking lot is a little tight 2) okay fine, the kitchy feel of the old drive-in is gone, but who cares? Everyone in Tacoma was about to have a hemorrhage when the old place was sold and torn down, but now it's alive and well living across the street with new owners. It's as good as it always was, people.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jay S.Tacoma, WA3137391758Mar 24, 2010
This review is for those who know and miss Little Holland - Mighty Mike's is its newest incarnation across the street from the old location (destroyed in the name of strip mall domination).
The menu is identical to the old Little Holland, literally. Even the prices and phone number are the same. You'll find the Mighty Mike here, the shakes, the same turkey sandwiches, onion rings, et al. One welcome change: open more days and longer hours.
The difference, which I think the first reviewer was hinting at, can be summed up with the following: You know how you get a family recipe and follow it to the letter and end up with something that doesn't add up to the original? That's the problem here. Mighty Mike's bought the original recipes and you can tell they are trying to replicate them, but they need to practice a bit more before we will get that soul satisfying burger of old.
Let's give them a chance to get up to speed...but in the meantime, know that you're not going to get the same yummy favs quite the same...Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Nick W.Phoenix, AZ392329285Mar 5, 2010
Order: Mighty Mike w/ fries and a drink
Burger Layout: Bun, Sauce, Ham, Cheese, Burger, Cheese, Burger, Ham, Cheese, Burger, Lettuce, Onions, Relish, Mikie Sauce, Bun
Cost: About $8
Fries: Boring
Having moved from a stand into a temporary new restaurant that's 3x as large, The Little Holland doesn't quite have the same allure that it used to. The tables are gone -in its place is a counter around the perimeter and some extremely uncomfortable chairs. The walls are slightly barren with some makeshift pictures and articles posted. A very strange plant also graces the counter. There's no overhead menu, just paper ones.
It took a while to get the food arrive, and once it did, only half of it arrived. My friend was bribed with some free food for the wait, which was all well and good, just a little awkward when it became obvious it was someone else's food...
The fries suck. There isn't much description needed. Devoid of flavor and straight from a freezer bag.
The burger, despite the myriad of things on it, actually seemed a little boring. The swiss cheese (my guess is white processed cheese singles) contributed almost no flavor, the ham was thin and added little to the taste, and all that was left was a pile of beef. Even the Mikie sauce couldn't rescue the burger.
Perhaps they'll hit their stride when they return to the proper side of the street. Let us hope, as it currently seems that the mighty have fallen.

My husband and I tried this for the first time tonight and we were pleasantly surprised !
I had the Mickie burger, fries and a soda ,he had the onion straw burger with onion rings and a milkshake. My burger was awesome , the house sauce is amazing. My husbands burger was good too and the onion rings are definitely a must.
If you haven't tried this place I would definitely put it on your list , the price was something else though for all that I listed it came up to 18$ and some change , kind of steep for what we got but we will certainly be coming back to try other things on the menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David M.Tacoma, WA1541Jun 22, 2015
I tried this place for the first time because I had a BOGO coupon. I was skeptical when I walked in, because I know this was the "reborn" Little Holland Mikie Burger, and I LOVED Little Holland.
Now , let me preface by stating I am a burger aficionado. I am not a fan of the six-inch tall 'gourmet' burgers you get at Red Robin and the like. I am a Frisko Freeze fan going WAY back, so my expectations were not that high walking in the door.
I hate to say it, but with only one Mikie burger under my belt, they have become my new favorite burger joint in T-Town. I LOVED the cheese burger I had. It was served on a great bun, the a just-right sized patty. The flavor was delicious.
I need to go to Home Depot today, and writing this review is making me hungry for a Mikie Burger. If if does not live up to my prior visit, or this review, I will update with my thoughts. If it is just a delicious as the firs time, this review sill stand.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - cherry b.Lakewood, WA041Feb 17, 2010First to Review
I wanted to write that Little Holland is back, but unfortunately, it's not, at least not yet...We visited the new Little Holland the week of their grand opening at the beginning of January, and it was great. The burgers, fries, onion rings and shakes were just as good as we remembered them. At that time, the previous owners were helping out the new owners in the kitchen.
However, the other night, we called in an order and were told it would be ready in 10 minutes. We arrived at the restaurant on time and had to wait an additional 10 to 15 minutes. No biggie. But when we received the order, all of the food--the burgers, the fries, the onion rings--was only lukewarm. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to eat my food when it's hot, especially if I have to wait an additional 10 minutes or so for it. On the bright side, the shakes were good.
My first visit to the new Little Holland was excellent and deserves five stars. My second visit was not up to par and deserves maybe one star. So I'll split the difference and give it three stars, at least for now...I am willing to give the place another shot at some point, but I am really hoping the food will be hot next time...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shawn B.Tacoma, WA107112167May 13, 2012
I used to LOVE Little Holland (what it's really called), but that was when they were on the South side of the street and ran by the original people. When they sold it, the Asians rebuilt it across the street in that little strip mall. Yes, Asians! Asians do NOT make American food very well at all. Any place! And Little Holland is no exception.
Small menu, misleading specials, and pretty expensive for the little portions you get. Oh, and I haven't eaten one burger here since the original place closed. I find myself buying their food they know how to cook, and that is NOT burgers!
I keep telling myself I won't go back and I don't, unless I'm with a friend who wants to go. I used to eat at the old place across the street at least once a week!
If you're looking for a good burger, you'll do much better just going to McDonald's or Jack In The Box a block away and avoiding this place!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Marvin G.Tacoma, WA01715May 2, 2017
Pulled on on May 1 and the owners were outside, personally turning customers away. They have decided to shut down. Maybe they enjoyed not having to let anyone in. Good while it lasted. I headed across the street for Teryaki Yaki Suki.

Changed ownership back in the Spring. They're using a higher quality, slightly larger bun now, but they've stopped toasting it! Interesting new additions to the menu; changes to the secret sauce (or rather, you can choose between the old Mikie Sauce and the new House Sauce); addition of fried onions to a few new burgers. I'll have to check back a few more times before I can definitively say how it ranks.
God I hope they go back to toasting the bun. That's a real make-or-break on a cheap burger.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 5, 2012Previous reviewI don't understand the bad reviews. They've got the best cheap burger in Tacoma (see: wonderfully toasted bun, secret sauce) and the best hand cut fries (instantly superior to the frozen pre-made kind most cheap burger joints serve).
No, the burger isn't as good as the one at Marrow. Yes, it's the best you'll find for the price. Finally something at the low end of the spectrum that's as good as Dick's: Mikie is a little pricier, a little nicer.
