Came with a group to try the $20 lunch deals. Considering inflation and ambiance at this restaurant, a 2-course meal for $20 is a good deal.
Starting with ambiance. Is this a Commander's Palace or Arnaud's level place? No, but honestly, I don't expect to find anything like that in St. Bernard. The tables do have actual tablecloths though, and the lighting isn't business-bright, so it's definitely a step up in atmosphere/sophisticated feel from many local restaurants. The waitstaff also seemed a bit above average, patient and attentive.
Now for the food. One of us loved oysters and hadn't had them in a while, so he skipped the special lunch menu in order to get an oyster appetizer and oyster entre; he said both were good. One of us got the lunch special with the Korean BBQ Steak Sandwich; she said the flavor was good, but was slightly disappointed at how the sandwich literally fell apart because the bread couldn't hold up to the juicy contents. The last two of us got the lobster bisque starter and the shrimp & grits. The bisque was poured tableside, which I thought was a nice touch. The sauce/gravy on the shrimp & grits had beer in it, which made for an unusual, excellent flavor.
One other thing: do yourself a favor and park in the parking lot behind the restaurant. Parking in front isn't worth the hassle when there's an actual lot in the back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 2, 2023
Low key quiet environment outside of New Orleans. We were in the area as my daughter attended a Friendsgiving. Not typical to dine out the night before Thanksgiving but I'm glad we did. We had reservations so we were quickly greeted and seated. There was no shortage of great service from how quickly we received our water to the wine menu, to food suggestions. I totally forgot the name of my dish but it was amazing. It was a redfish I believe topped with a creek crawfish sauce, lump crabmeat that was also over fried green tomatoes.
The bbq oysters were a new try and they were pretty good. We ordered a 1/2 dozen the was surprisingly presented with a dozen. Needless to say we ate them all. We left and headed out to pick up my daughter but realized she wasn't quite ready when we went to pick her up so we returned back to sit at the bar and have a cocktail and dessert. I had another glass of wine with the brownie and ice cream, small portion which was roughly $4. Perfect size and perfectly priced enough for us to share and enjoy 2-3 bites each. If in the area again, I'll definitely stop in. We enjoyed the food, service, and environment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eric P.Newport Beach, CA420773Nov 29, 2023
Great place to dine on a business trip. Tuesday night not busy at all - good food and fair ambiance.
Filet and oysters dinner did not disappoint- Caymus wine perfect pairing.
Minus the star - did not clean table between course... small detail. Manager no type of table touching - waiter was on point ! Excellent service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Jul 17, 2023
We ordered takeout from this restaurant and was really happy with our decision!
We ordered the pork chop and they zest a pasta.
Both were amazing but the star of the show was the sweet potatoes. They were the perfect amount of sweetness with the perfect consistency!
Great spot!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you so much for the compliments! We love a happy guest more than anything (maybe not more than the sweet potatoes though!)

After reading some of the reviews, I did not have high expectations of this place. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. From the time I walked in till the time I walked out all staff members were friendly and engaging. The ambiance was classy and relaxing. For the appetizers we had char-broiled oysters, boudin egg rolls, head-on shrimp, and crab cakes. They were all delicious. My two favorites were the oysters and the boudin egg rolls. I had the lunch special it was a piece of deep fried pork loin with these pan fried potatoes with a mushroom sauce and it was laid on this barbecue type sauce. it was delish. Everyone at the table said their food was excellent. The kids shrimp with fries, shrimp and grits - which I want to try next - the fillet with a house salad, and gumbo. Everything was all very tasty and cooked perfectly. Definitely we'll go back.

Good Food, Outstanding Service. I see why it's so hard to get a table here but we lucked into a fairly slow night and we're seated and eating oysters I'm about 15 minutes. Afterwards we had spinach dip (3 out of 5) and a great medium well ribeye and Caesar salad that could feed 3. Check them out!

Our servers were very attentive and made sure our entire group had our waters filled. Our appetizers came out right away. I was absolutely in heaven with the Raw gulf oysters! They were so juicy! The gulf shrimp pasta was delicious and filling! Plus dessert was a win as well! I loved how creamy the crème brûlée was! The restaurant itself was a fancy setting but didn't really have a certain dress code which was nice.

We went to the sugar bowl and every restaurant downtown was packed so we figured we explore some nearby areas and found this GEM. My family Loved everything we ordered including the freshest Oysters we found in the NOLA area. The Gumbo was on point the steak top notch, and service superb.
Thanks for a great evening.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Randee S.Dallas, TX1610Nov 5, 2023
MeMe's is the best kept secret in Nola that everyone needs to know about! If you don't live in the Chalmette area don't let the drive intimidate you, it's more than worth it. Chef and Owner, Doug Braselman (former Head Chef at Emeril's before Covid) has curated a menu of local favorites. Everything we ordered was perfect, from the House Salad to Filet Mignons and the House Special White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Service wasn't rushed which made it easy to relax and enjoy our meal. Our Server Ashley was great and so knowledgeable about the menu. The background music was spot on for the mood and wasn't too loud. I can't wait to go back to try several different kinds of oysters and their lemon pie. I'm adding this to my list of favorites and will visit often!

Incredible food, nice ambiance, happy hour ON POINT! Slight downside was having to hear the staff complaining about other staff... patrons should not have to hear that mess.
