Mellow Mushroom

There was some sort of mix up in the kitchen. We waited about 40 mins for our pizzas, after the apps arrived.
Now you may ask why they still get 5 stars. Here's why!! The server was on top of his game very apologetic but not overly about the mix up. He gave up estimates on the wait and was attentive after the order arrived.
The food was very good from the Pretzels and the beer cheese dip. The beer cheese dip was one of the best I have had.
We ordered the kosmic karma pizza which was very good no complaints about it.
Now the Holy Shiitake pizza. No exaggeration this pizza was in the top two pizzas I have ever had. I expected it to be good, but man it was great to say the least. This pizza alone could have got this establishment 5 stars.

When this place first opened it was very good. First of all the place needs a total cleaning. The giant fish hanging from the ceiling is covered with dust and needs immediate attention. We ordered the spinach dip appetizer which was plain and bland . We ordered the Meaty Pizza which the crust was undercooked. In our short time at the Mellow Mush we were told that the management was horrible and staff turnover was rampant. We were told the bartender was on his last day.
It's a shame how this place has went down hill. If we want to go to the Mellow Mush we will ride up to Delray as they are consistent.

Review update:

First time here was rough. We encountered a whole range of issues. It took me a while to come back but I am glad I did.

My experience yesterday was a worlds away from my original visit. This was a Saturday night and this place was crowded and busy but none of that deterred us from having a wonderful experience.

From beginning to end. The pros and cons:

We were greeted right away by the hostess who was polite and attentive and assured us the wait for a party of two would be short. We were seated within 15 minutes.

Our waiter was memorable...he was extra friendly and accommodating, had a few witty comments and I appreciated that he didn't know an answer to our question but checked with the manager quickly for a solution. I thought that was diligent and customer service moment.

What I ate:
The portobello mushroom appetizer
The holy shitttake pie
A lil Greek salad
Their new fancy beer in a black bottle

Mushroom appetizer was nothing out of this world and was just a medium sized portobello mushroom cap with cheese. It was undercooked for my taste had a very over powering earthy taste. Not worth the $9.

The mushroom pizza was phenomenal though. Something about the crust seemed pan fried and had a garlic taste. Very flavorful but not over powering. The toppings were perfectly combined to give your palate something to smile about. I still think they're pizzas are a bit small for the cost but this one was worth it!

The Greek salad was surprisingly big for it being a "lil". Had all the right toppings and our waiters choice of dressing was on point, the Esperanza (I think that was the name) dressing complimented the salad perfectly.

Fancy beer, can't remember the name. Was VERY strong. Not in a bad or good way just strong. The packaging though is what sold me on it. At $6.50 the beautiful black sleek bottle will be a great addition to our beer wall. Might sound silly but the beer is worth the adorable original souvenir bottle (if you're into these sorts of things).

I have to admit that after my first visit I was never going to come back but I am glad to report we had a much much much better experience. My only con is that the waiters/bartenders/hostesses don't wear uniforms and it's very hard to tell who works here or not. Also... APRONS! I saw a waiter stick the plastic bill thing inside his pants... Like not the pockets, I mean inside the waist band and-hopefully-between his boxers and pants. Kinda gross. Aprons and some sort of uniform would go a long way to organize a bit. There's no doubt the place is a bit chaotic.

Parking is easy in the free garage across the location. The decorations are cool, I really love the fish made of drums, and the bar area is cool.

After periodically making trips here over the course of the last year I can say that the initial excitement that I have had for Mellow Mushroom has slowly faded. I'll never forget the first time that I had their pretzel bites with beer cheese sauce. It was heavenly. However, then I had the pizza which used the same dough for the crust, and it just instantly became less exciting.

Everything on the menu here sounds amazing. I want to order everthing! However, I have pretty consistently found that the food is just not as good as it sounds. In particular with the pizza the type of crust they use gets soggy very quickly. Bummer.

However, I will say that thanks to Mellow Mushroom my new favorite beverage is a "Manmosa!" Love me some Blue Moon with a sprinkle of OJ and a shot o' tequila!

Bottom line is that it is pretty likely at some point I will be back with the family. The inside is fun with neon color changing lights. I will limit myself to brunch though when I can get the glorious all you can drink Manmosas for $15!

After a day out in the sun, I was famished and looking for some good food and air conditioning. I decided to check out Mellow Mushroom with a friend and her kids. Over the years I've heard about this restaurant but hadn't had a chance to check it out. When we arrived they had a beer competitor going on outside with some music playing in the background. It made the location see "cool". Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. The inside wasn't very busy since the majority of the guest wanted to sit outside and enjoy the weather and atmosphere. Our waitress was attentive and gave us time to look over the menus prior to us ordering.

We decided to order the Thai chili wings and a medium pizza that was half sausage and half pepperoni. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the pizza. It came out hot, cheesy, and had plenty of toppings. The Wings, however, were just ok. They were grilled with a mild flavor. Overall, Mellow Mushroom is a kid friendly restaurant but is also great if you just want to hangout with some friends, eat, and have a few drinks.

Super disappointed! My Godson kept saying Auntie Skye I want to go where the hawk is.... Or so I thought. He wanted to go where the Hulk is! Apparently, time would allow me to realize there is a huge Hulk statue outside which is how he identifies Mellow Mushroom.

It was over 5 minutes before the hostess made it to the stand to acknowledge us while many servers walked by just staring at us. Not one person said someone will be right with you or helped us. Frustrating. Team work guys, get it together.

We were finally sat, and the beginning of our service started off okay. I had only had Mellow Mushroom to go prior, and I will say they have great pizza! I love PIZZA! The decor and ambiance is nice. I wish we had a better experience, because I was excited at the beginning walking in the door.

After we gave our waitress our order, forget it. Non-existent. I needed to get a refill on our kids chocolate milk, but I could not find our waitress. Finally, someone dropped off our food at the table, and I was able to ask. No one ever checked on us, and our waitress never asked if everything was okay or how our food was. I eventually had to get up from the table and ask for a box and our check. I mean really? The place wasn't real busy or anything. It was midday.

I ordered a house salad which had so many onions on it the name should've been onion salad. Not good. My Godson didn't end up eating his meatballs, but I had them later at home and they were good. There was mozzarella cheese skewered between the two halves which I had never seen before. Great idea. The pizza was good too. The service...... lets just say I won't be going here for a long time.

Went on a Friday and there was happy hour so cheese pizzas start at $5 and I added my additional toppings which I loved the toppings available. I did a pesto sauce base, ricotta cheese, and topped it with spinach and artichoke. Service was great even though I came with a larger party. Splitting checks and getting orders out was no problem! I even used my yelp checkin reward for a free salad. I asked for the dressing on the side which I got but there was already dressing mixed in ? Other than that, I really enjoy coming here. I've gotten multiple things and all have been good. I really like the pretzel bites with then cheese dip! They are always accommodating when I come with a large party!

Easy to find parking along the streets or in the garage behind the place.

I had to seat myself as no one noticed me walk in. That was fine. My server took my order and did not come to check on me again save to come over with the check I had not asked for and wasn't ready for. I had water but was not asked if I wanted to order a drink nor offered a drink menu. She did not bring me ketchup for my side potatoes nor ask if I needed anything. I had planned on ordering drinks and desert but she seemed to think I was ready to check out without any inclination on my part so I took the hint. Their loss.

In conclusion the food was actually fantastic but the service was wanting. This place could do a lot better with staff that knew how to do their jobs.

And now for something completely different! The Mellow Mushroom is a very unique experience and cool atmosphere. Innovative menu, with excellent pizza...

If you were sitting at the indoor bar, you have a nice view of the outdoor bar, which is kind of fun. Lots on tap, no matter what century your beer drinking tests were formed.

Bartenders are a bunch of millennial guys, not the best at service or cleanliness. Pretty girls not only bring in more customers, but they are much better at keeping the bar clean and everything in its place.

Their fresh baked pretzels are a real treat. Salads are too big for one person unless it is your meal. Prices are very reasonable.

I was very happy with the Mushroom and plan to return.

My first time to Mellow Mushroom in years and first time in this location.

Kind of crazy looking inside. It's funky, trendy, but still feels laid back.

I came at lunch. Wasn't busy- always makes me nervous but hoped for the best.

Mihailo was my server. Good dude. Fast and friendly. Checked up on me multiple times and my cup was never empty. He even gave me a roadie for my walk home.

I got the Italian hoagie (not sub) on French bread. Side note: you can get the hoagies on pita or multigrain bread. I ordered chips which are a dollar and come in a bag. Little letdown by that. I think I would have been happy if they opened the bag and dumped them out on my plate. How would I know they were from a small bag, right?

The hoagie was great. The meat was fresh, the bread was light and not very heavy so I didn't feel like a hog when I finished.

I was in an out basically in around 35 minutes which is amazing for lunch.

One thing I would say is I wish they had signage at the table level regarding specials. They have a huge sign on the upper walls but I missed it and didn't see it until after I ordered. I'm 6'6 so if I missed it who else is too?

Had I known I would have ordered two slices instead.
