Great food, economical, good service. Kind of a homey neighborhood bar atmosphere. Nothing fancy, but a friendly place. My only drawback is cash only, and no separate checks with a group. Bring your calculator! LOL

Both the ambiance and service were perfect. Food not so much. Food is served on styrofoam plates, that was the first clue. I guarantee my Rueben and my sister's grilled ham and cheese were microwaved. No way the interior of the sandwiches got that hot on a grill top. Disappointed with the food and the presentation of it.

Food more than delicious. This place is hopping and a happening, a true iconic gem on the North Shore. Get a burger and a brew. Get here early because the noise levels up after 8.

I live close to this place and have driven by it for months telling myself "self, you need to try it out". Mission accomplished!

I tried the thing everyone suggests, cheeseburger with tots. I ordered it medium, it came well done. That appears to be common among taverns. The cheeseburger is a basic cheeseburger. The tots, were basic tots. Seasoning isn't really the selling point on these, it is the cash price. Cash... they only accept cash. They have an ATM though. My meal sans drink cost 10.45 without tax. I mean, that is very good for a sit down place.

The atmosphere of this place is exactly what you'd expect from a roadhouse tavern. Lots of wood, checkered table cloths, and the noise of a manual cash register in the background. The TVs over the huge bar are not too big, and this is a throwback in nostalgia to the 1960s. Hamms beers signs, Blatz sign at the front door, and DAB and Old Style on tap. The patrons are definitely locals and there are plenty (about 1/2 capacity on a Saturday at 2)

This is an experience. If you are in the neighborhood, it is worth stopping and having a beer and a burger. I may need to come back on Friday for the fish fry.

      Roadhouse tavern ambience
      Iconic entrance.

Divey hole in the wall bar, definitely has a family feel, and attracts people of all ages (we brought our 2yo). There's a mix of friend get togethers, and some families. There are plenty of tables, and some bar seating as well, but it fills up fast. There are only a couple of wait staff, so getting service might be a little tough, but that's to be expected considering this isn't necessarily a restaurant, it's more of a bar that serves food.

To that point, the food they offer is what you'd expect of a divey bar, fried, greasy foods, but pretty good! I've had their fried fish, the tuna melt, and the reuben, and the reuben continues to be the star. Comes with fries. Everything is served on very disposable (read: styrofoam) plates, for ease of disposal and hopefully, to contain any greasy messes left behind.

I took my family for lunch today and we were immediately seated and drink order was somewhat prompt, considering the waitress was busy. I asked if they had lemonade and ice tea, which I was told they did, and I asked for an Arnold Palmer. I was brought a lemonade. Then we waited and waited. I watched the owner/manager look directly at our table and walk away to behind the bar. The waitress, who was the only one, was asking multiple, already served tables for a second round of drinks around us. She proceeded to clear tables around us as well as talking with the patrons. Note there was no wait for seating. After 23 minutes from receiving our drinks we decided to go somewhere else since it didn't look like the waitress was going to take our order. As my family was walking out, the waitress asked us, oh you're not going to order food? I asked for check. As I was leaving I told her and the owner/manager that it was unacceptable service and that they need to a better job. There was never an apology and I was charged for 3 of the 4 drinks, which I refused to pay for my lemonade. Enjoy your $10 we will never go back again. Too bad as I have frequented the place for years. I can only pray it was not racially motivated against my multicultural family.

This tavern is an amazing experience. Food was great. For me, I love that the food comes out hot and fresh. Our waitress was running around and took care of which seemed to be the entire restaurant. Cash only! I loved the decor and tavern feeling. You might wait a little for service but sit tight and enjoy. No need to rush! Food is served in styrofoam plates which adds to the experience.

I've driven by this place too many times to count. And just about every time I comment about how I want to try it and never have. Well we finally did it. My wife and I took the two boys and they had chicken nuggets to satisfy them. We went for more adult options and the food was very good. Now we need to get back on Friday for the fish fry. Could also see spending a relaxing afternoon at the bar. One thing to remember is Meier Tavern is CASH ONLY! I don't recall seeing an ATM, but they do not take cards. Like I said...old school!

We had cheeseburgers, shared onion rings and coleslaw and a couple beers. This was at 2 pm on Friday. The place was not busy. The burgers were not warm so they had been sitting too long to be taken out. Not good. There are better burgers out there. The onion rings were excellent and hot, really good. The beers, draft and craft were very good. One server for the whole place she was swamped and slow. Poor management.

Cozy neighborhood tavern, a great patty melt and onion rings that pairs well with a few DABs on draft.
