We found this place by accident, and we were very happy we did! When you walked in, it was very quaint and the decorations around made it feel very homey and on-theme. We were met at the door by an incredibly smiley and kind server, and had the option between a regular two person table or this really interesting seat pit. I think the seating pit was supposed to be an americanized version of an irori table, however it was built into a wooden platform so the sitters could have their feet on the floor. Very cool!
We ordered some hot sake (Mountain Man) to start, and absolutely loved it. The waitresses recommendations were spot on. And then we got some sushi and noodles! We ordered Nabeyaki Udon noodles and absolutely loved it. It paired so well with the sushi we got, which was: Meeka Roll 3, Salmon Roll, and a Tuna Roll - they were so good! I also got some Salmon nigiri and it was some of the smoothest, most delicious piece of salmon i've had in a while!
Can't recommend this place enough! Definitely a local treasure that we will be happy to return to.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 2, 20241 check-in
This place is so good! The ambiance is so nice. They have a couple of tables that are off the ground that are traditional Japanese seating where you take off your shoes & sit on the floor with the table close to you.
Service is always good. The servers are super nice & accommodating.
Food is always made fresh & presentation is cute when you dine in. A step up from conveyer belt sushi. My fave things to get are tempura, creamy scallop, and the spicy seared salmon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 3, 2023
I frequent Ruby Spa at Edgefield, the next exit down I-84, so I initially came to Meeka out of convenience. However, I've returned time and time again because it's such a lovely experience and I'm always made to feel like family. It starts with a friendly "Irasshaimase," and continues with superb customer service and genuine interest in my well-being. I'm never disappointed with my dinner at Meeka.
Most meals begin with their outstanding miso soup and their signature salad. Crisp Iceburg lettuce with slivered carrots, garnished by their show-stopping salad dressing. It's probably a simple mayo-based dressing with spices, but it's absolutely delicious and a refreshing way to start the meal.
My favorite dishes at Meeka include:
Spicy Scallop Hand Rolls: They are robust and filled with succulent scallops, a slice of avocado, and topped with ikura. YUMM! Honestly, I come here for this dish a miso alone sometimes and leave completely satisfied.
Shrimp Tempura: I don't know how they do it, but their shrimp tempura are the best I've ever had. Crispy, juicy, and so big they are practically a meal by themselves. If you love tempura, definitely try the offerings at Meeka!
I'm impressed with the kitchen's ability to pace dishes such that I never have everything arrive at once, or find myself waiting impatiently for the next course. The wait staff are very communicative and efficient. This may be a strip mall Japanese restaurant, but the impeccable service makes it feel like a high end establishment. I always leave feeling very appreciative.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 2567471147May 31, 2023
Really enjoyed the experience, although there were areas of improvement when it came to portioning and quality, service was amazing and ambience is absolutely adorable. I really liked their selection of nigiri/fish/etc, they just got Otoro and medium fatty tuna in a couple hours prior and they offered it. We said yes, the tuna was really buttery and delicious. Quality is definitely not high quality but VERY good for the price point.
I'm used to eating fine dining level sushi master quality sushi, traditional edomae style is what I'm used to eating. This was a great more affordable yet delicious alternative.
I highly recommend the amaebi, scallop, otoro, chutoro, squid, mackerel and ikura.
The katsu was very dry and overcooked, miso was yummy, the combo platter was a good start for basic sushi for people to try a variety. I enjoy dipping with soy sauce Wasabi and lemon, and I recommend that for newbies trying sushi
If you're not into a lot of rice. I would recommend you asking for half the amount of rice. There was way too much rice for each piece of fish to the point the rice overwhelmed the fish, I removed half of the rice from each piece.
See photos. Overall I would visit if I needed a quick sushi fix, it's okay quality, and fresh tasting, definitely ask for less rice. Service is amazing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Chelsea T.Rockwood, Portland, OR086Apr 8, 2024

Great affordable Japanese. Their portions are big and leave you full! For about $40 (take out) you can get two filling meals. Sushi and sashimi portions are big as well! They give you a ton of rice you can save for fried rice the next day!

Stopped by here with my son after taking him for a haircut in Gresham and it's a nice little hole in the wall for a decent lunch bento set. We got the Tonkatsu lunch special (lunch until 3), agedashi tofu, and an order of fresh uni nigiri. We loved the Japanese style decor and the food was yummy and hearty. The Tonkatsu and the tempura it came with were really crispy and the flavors of the agedashi tofu were towards the authentic side. My partner didn't like the sushi rice on his nigiri but other than that, no other complaints! I'll def come back to try more lunch specials. I didn't want to forget - the server was so sweet and friendly to us and the wait for the food was short (always a consideration with a toddler!)

Been going here for years, this is some of the best sushi you will find in the area. The price isn't terrible and the food is incredible. A little pricier than I'd like, but that's just sushi.

Such a solid Japanese food experience. Checks my Japanese food box. Sushi is great and they have some creative rolls. Staff was very friendly. Just a nice and warm, welcoming environment. Will come again
