Where the heck is McKinney and why would we want to go there?! These were questions we had before we took this fun tour through charming McKinney!
We came to Texas for a friend's wedding in the neighboring town of Allen and we were looking for something fun to do. Lo and behold we find McKinney Segway Tours through yelp. We've never ridden a segway before, but have seen so many people do it that we wanted to try it out for ourselves.
Ken and Jen were awesome. We bought the yelp special and they were really accommodating with it! Ken took us on the tour and we learned some amazing things about McKinney. For example they love their chickens in this town. Like seriously LOVE their chickens. The Chicken coops have FANS AND AIR CONDITIONERS IN THEM. What?! That chicken lives better than I do. I now know where to recommend all of my chicken friends to go. All joking aside though, Ken and Jen patiently taught all of us how to ride the segways before the tour started (so it doesn't take up time away from the tour). By the end we were riding like pros.
The only downside I would say this tour had was just not enough time on the Segways! But the tour is 2 hours long, so it might just be because we got addicted to riding them :P When we were there middle of July the temperature was over 100 degrees and extremely humid so make sure you bring water! They tell you that before hand as well and even put in shade/indoor AC breaks during the tour.
So give it a try, these two are great :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mike H.McKinney, TX11312Aug 1, 2017
We took the McKinney historic tour and it was 2 hours of non-stop fun. We had 4 people in our group which included 2 teenagers and I can say everyone had a great time. You ride the segway's around the downtown historic district while making stops at historic spots so Ken our guild could tell us historic facts. At one point when you get to the city park you get to free roam for about 10 minutes and see what the segway's can really do.
During the summer time listen to what they say and bring water for the tour. The segway's have bags on them to hold your water bottle so don't worry about that.
If you're looking for something unique and different to do this is a great choice. I know when plan on taking the other tours in the near future since we had that much fun.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lee W.Celina, TX31204May 19, 2017
Ken was great. He was knowledgeable and fun. The tours sizes are perfect (5 max). The only thing I would recommend is more stops, not for resting but for historical facts. I am a history nerd :) so more education the better. There is one restroom stop only at a Mckinney Park, so use one first if you need to go! I checked the tour was good for kids because if they are 14 years or age or over they can do the tour. One thing to let you know is there is not a lot of time spent not the square, this is by design. Mckinney square is way to crowded. The only spot you visit on the square is the old jail house.

This was my first Segway tour, and I was very pleased that I booked it. I never thought a tour like this would be much fun, or very informative, but our tour guide Ken was both entertaining and knowledgeable about McKinney. Ken took about fifteen minutes to give us a basic lesson on Segway driving, and off we went into the historic house district and around the town square. I had lived in Plano for a while, so I had visited the shops in McKinney. I had never seen some of the beautiful homes though, as they are tucked into residential areas of the city. I would never be able to cover the distance on foot, so the Segway was the perfect vehicle for seeing the sights. The best part was feeling the pleasant breeze as we rolled along on a hot summer day. The tour was 1.5 hours- wear sunscreen!

The staff was not real nice at all . They are not knowledgeable on the use of Segway and there safety. I was concerned about our children . The staff just brushed it as if "Don't be concerned about it they are fine. Very uncaring and not reassuring. Wow!!!

I had an amazing time taking the historic tour of McKinney on a Segway. This was my first time on a Segway, so I was pretty nervous. Ken did a great job of teaching me how to ride. He was very patient and understanding of my hesitation and worry, assuring me that by the end of the tour, I would be a pro at riding a Segway. Practicing in the parking lot before the tour helped build some confidence. I did progressively get better and began to enjoy the challenges of maneuvering the sidewalks of historic downtown.
The tour was very interesting. There was no shortage of interesting historical information of McKinney. I can't imagine a better way to learn of and tour McKinney. I especially enjoyed viewing the beautiful homes with their deep architectural details.
I would definitely recommend McKinney Segway Tours to anyone who is interested. It was a unique and fun-filled experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jami P.Frisco, TX0377Dec 22, 2016
So much fun! My family, 2 adults, 16 and 14 year old, took our first ride ever on the Segways tonight. We met Ken and Jen at Deerfield to tour the holiday lights. Our time was scheduled at 6:00 and they were up and ready to go at 5:30. Gave us a quick how to, a bit of practice, and we were on our way. Ken was our guide and he was great. Always looking behind to make sure we were all fine and very courteous when we encountered foot traffic on our way. We all had a great time and can't wait to book with them again for another ride.
