Neurofeeback Therapies provides free online resources and help for parents with children with ADHD. Here's how the treatment is structured. After a practitioner takes a detailed history of the patient, he maps the patient's brain. The patient dons a cap lined with electrodes and sits with his eyes closed for several minutes. He is then asked to perform a complex cognitive task, such as reading aloud. The results are shown as a color-coded map on a computer screen, indicating areas of the brain where there is too much or too little brain-wave activity -- the sources, theoretically, of the patient's ADHD symptoms. This digital map enables a person's brain activity to be compared with other brain-wave patterns stored in databases -- and can help fine-tune a treatment plan by delineating sites for the electrodes. During treatment, the patient wears the same headgear while sitting in front of a video screen. His goal: to move the characters in a computer or video game (goals vary, depending on the protocol the practitioner uses) by producing short bursts of sustained brain-wave activity in those areas of the brain thought to be under-aroused. The software generating the game monitors and records brain activity. Loss of focus will cause the game to stop. It plays only when the patient exercises that portion of the brain that is deficient in focus.

If I could give a "0" star, I would. This person and his treatments are total scam. He took thousands of dollars from our medical insurance while claiming treatment for our two children's "diagnosed"ADD. His analogies, especially the elevator analogy were too far fetched. After months of treatments, my kids did not improve with regards of concentration, and social skills.

It took many years after they saw this person for them to receive the proper treatment with counseling and school/ friends support.Their self-esteem are solid now and as young adults, they now thrive and are active members of our society.

Do yourself, and your children a favor by not falling victim of his scam. We had to endure, and pay many hours of listening to him claim how he is the best, as we had to stare at this picture of his Russian wife... too much talk, zero positive results!

The Neurofeedback treatments work well, and the therapists are very friendly. If you show up early, then they take you in if they can. They couches you sit on for your treatment. They offer you water if you are thirsty, and give you a blanket if you cold. They have lots of movies ranging from kids films and animation to r rated films. They have lots of popular movies like all the Star Wars films, and Back to The Future part 2. They always add films every once in a while to their library. The treatment work well for my anxiety.

This guy is such a joke and a complete fraud. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this scam.

I was a "patient" of "Dr. Steinberg" as a child. Everytime I see him on KRON news in the morning advertising his services I cringe and want to throw something at the TV. My parents easily wasted 5-figures on this sham "doctor" and his scheme.

Tell me if you've heard this one before- he calls you into his "office" which is essentially a big play room with all kinds of toys and games, and tells you to do whatever you please for about 30 minutes. Then he comes back, does a little picture comparison, and writes you up this big diagnosis that you have ADD and recommends "EGG Biofeedback" treatment be started immediately.

You show up, get sat down in a dental-style chair by an assistant (the patient doesn't see "Dr. Steinberg" again, until another semi-annual checkup). The assistant attaches two wires to your head. Then you stare at a computer screen for 30 minutes while some game is "automatically controlled" by your brain concentrating and your scores slowly increase, and the staff tells you how great of a job you're doing and what progress you're making every time.

How do I know it's a scam? I was a pretty intuitive little kid, and at about 10 years old figured out it's complete garbage. I used to use my visits to "Dr. Steinbergs office" as nap time, no joke. I would fall asleep in the chair (they dim the lights in the room for you to "concentrate") yet my scores would just keep going higher and higher. I would even admit to my parents that I was just sleeping through these visits twice a week, yet they insisted I stick with it for over a year because Dr. Mark Steinberg and his staff would tell me I am making great progress.

The kicker was recently, I needed to compile my complete medical history due to some other health complications. I called Dr. Steinbergs office to ask for the records that listed his "diagnosis" and what course of treatment that was prescribed for me under his care, and was told that they don't keep the records of past patients and they had literally nothing to my name on file.

Not happy with consultation with Mark. Did not explain the process or give me any details how bio feed back works etc. paid way too much for no information. $600 and an hour and a half of my time.
Would not recommend this at all.

I found my personal experience with Dr. Mark Steinberg powerfully transformative. It is a process that you must feel in order to determine whether or not you see and or notice a difference. My first meeting with him was in his Los Gatos office with my son who was at the time struggling with several issues ranging from drug addiction, PTSD, anxiety etc. We were feeling desperate and looking for a cure. There was sticker shock on my end but after meeting with Dr. Steinberg it was obvious to me that he really listened well and understood what was happening. He designed an action plan and we started the process. While going through the process I myself had a couple of Voice Technology sessions and it was truly amazing at how much of a difference they made in my body and mind and feelings. My son too had similar experiences with utilizing the voice technology. The most significant one I would say that I witnessed my son experience was on the day he and I were driving up to put him into a rehabilitation facility. (My son had not been utilizing Dr. Steinberg's services earlier or perhaps we would not have been in that predicament) My son was having extremely agitated symptoms of withdrawal from Ocy we would be in the car a total of three and 1/2 hours. He was literally jumping out of his skin. He was depressed, feeling hopeless and ashamed, nauseated. I kept asking him to call Dr. Steinberg and he promised he would after he was detoxed. Finally he gave in and called Dr. Steinbergs number and left a message for him to call back if he could. It was a holiday Memorial day weekend. The Dr. returned his call about 35 minutes later and they had a session. I was driving the car but I was still able to notice and watch the transformation that occured in the car. The entire session was less then 20 minutes but the change in my sons physical appearance and demeanor was nothing short of miraculous. My son went from being slumped over with depression, sweating, knees slapping together in agitation to a young man sitting up taller, breather normally, knees completely at rest. His sweating had ceased and he was looking around outside the window and kept repeating Wow! Wow! Wow! He thanked Dr. Steinberg and he had asked him about his depressive thoughts etc and we were all thrilled that he didn't feel all those negative things at the time after the session had finished.
If you can and you are committed to change then this will heal you. I have the utmost respect for Dr,. Steinbergs knowledge and his compassion and dedication to his clients. He goes above and beyond the call of duty ! Even on vacation. I tell everybody that I know about him!

If you are reading this, chances are good that you have a child with ADD. That is both heart-breaking and frustrating and, unfortunately, in my opinion, Steinberg and his "therapies" are anything but a solution.

We received the full Steinberg treatment -- sessions for child and consultation for parents. He is good with assurance up front that he is able to get the full payment out of the insurance company and he proved quite effective in this area.

The child therapy, however, was not effective for our son. Looking back, I don't know why I thought that watching TV while hooked to a computer would cause a lasting change in behavior.

Our parental consultations were both demeaning and unuseful. Please read the other Yelp reviews about the conditions and decor of Steinberg's office before bringing your family inside.

I wish you luck in your struggle with ADD. Hang in there. It is not easy. You are going to need professional help and a good support system. Keep looking.

Walnut Creek Beware!!! (he has multiple locations in the bay)

$200 1/2hr rate, starts on the first visit. Expect to pay $600+ (not $200) on your first visit and DO NOT SIGN UP for his packages!!

Read the other reviews, the negative ones are all the same story, same as ours.

Don't waste your time with this sales person. It's all about the benjamins and hocus pocus.

KRON 4 should be ashamed of themselves promoting this guy.

This is a review for Dr. Steinberg's latest book, which I found so helpful I am planning on making an appointment to see him. I will post another review after I meet with him.

In "Staying Madly in Love With Your Spouse", Dr. Mark Steinberg offers up unique and sage advice for married people who want to overcome obstacles which may be keeping their marriage from becoming a satisfying and vital relationship.

Dr. Mark Steinberg deftly moves us through the maze of female and male stereotypes using humor, his own experience as a married man, and his many years as a psychologist to reveal intrinsic truths about both sexes which can undermine a relationship, or when better understood, will help the reader add spark and resiliency to their own marriages. The author also describes instances where keeping the marriage going may not be in the best interest of one or both partners.

The author describes some unique and realistic methods of dealing with a spouse's idiosyncrasies and needs without sacrificing our own, which will keep the marriage infused with life, love, and romance.

One of the methods called Thought Field Therapy is an exciting and interesting tool for defeating negative thoughts. The book includes instructions, algorithms, and a chart, which guide the reader through tapping sequences that will help the reader rid themselves of negative thoughts, depression, anxiety and more. I personally found this method of tapping on meridians to be most helpful with
      some anxiety issues I had.

Another method of helping the reader whose boredom or negativity is impacting their marriage is EEG neurofeedback. This is a method of training like biofeedback, which helps the brain to change its own activity by using electrodes applied to the scalp and computers where feedback is viewed and the brain is trained to produce more beneficial brainwaves. The author contends this method works due to the plasticity of the brain. He states we can actually re-train our brains to work better.

On the whole this was an informative and enjoyable read. The author infuses much of the text with cartoons and humor while keeping the message clear: staying in love with the person you married is an attainable and realistic goal. The author writes from a Christian perspective, but readers of any persuasion will gain substantial benefit from the much needed advice offered in this timely book.

Made an appointment with my father in-law who was suffering from depression. Basically the whole hour was consumed hearing about all the expensive packages we could sign up for and little time went into listening. We left after an hour, paid the pricey consultation fee (for what I'm not sure) and never looked back.

I wished I had read the reviews on this guy before we sank $7,000 in useless assessment, treatment and consultation.

I would agree with many that he is indeed egotistical. Moreover, providing false hope to parents who want to believe that he could help until he has your cash is just cruel and unusual punishment. Over a course of three months we took our son twice a week. Over an hour drive each way. At the end, his test results were virtually the same as the initial assessment. All we got from Steinberg was, "oh well, it works on some better than others. I don't suppose you want to stick with it a bit longer to see if it would work better over time?"

Seriously? When we said we really wouldn't, he couldn't get us out of his office fast enough.
