We attempted to go there last night.. So bummed.. Signs down.. And looks like they are closed up..

We first walked in, and we were the only ones there... but that definitely changed within 30 minutes...6 other tables filled up... We loved to see and hear that the other patrons felt like we did...
Homemade Minestrone or Salad comes with your meal, and fresh, soft bread (upon request).
We decided to start out with the Calamari... We really like they serve up the rings and tentacles.. cause many other Italian restaurants only do the calamari "strips".. It was delicious by itself, or along with the dipping sauces.
I had the "Special" (Ribeye and Pesto Pasta) Steak was prepared exactly to my liking... And because I am trying to watch the waistline, I tried not to eat all the Pasta, but inevitably it was so good, I was not successful of saving some...it was delish! I LOVE FRESH PESTO!.
Hubby had the Chicken Parmesan and he loved it too...Very fresh Marinara..
We shared a dish of Spumoni Ice Cream.. Nice end to a delicious and satisfying meal.
Our server was friendly and very accommodating... The owner came by the table as I told her she looked very familiar. Come to find out, she had catered some of my business lunches in the past... No wonder this place is good.
We will definitely come back... and soon! - Kimberly K.Boston, MA1091720Aug 14, 2014
We have eaten at Marino's several times since they first opened. The owners are unfailingly pleasant and always take the time to greet everyone. They've only been open about a month and service has only improved. The servers were always polite and friendly, but now that they have become more familiar with the menu items they are helpful with dish recommendations and very efficient. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious.
The dishes we have tried are:
1. Piroshki from the lunch menu. This is the only lunch item I've had, and I loved it. I haven't had any good piroshki in years, since a deli I used to visit in San Francisco. The price was $5!
2. Braised pork tenderloin over rigatoni in a tomato cream sauce. This was a dinner special and I think it was my favorite meal I've had at Marino's but that's a tough call. Loved the sauce and the pork was perfectly seasoned and very tender.
3. Chicken Parmesan -- it comes with spaghetti but I requested mashed potatoes instead. They happily accommodated my request. Really yummy.
4. Marinated Ribeye. Served with perfectly cooked green beans and delicious garlic mashed potatoes.
5. Fettuccine Alfredo. SO GOOD. Rich, creamy alfredo sauce. YUM.
6. Shrimp Scampi. I am allergic to shrimp so didn't get to try this one, but it looked good and I was told it was very tasty.
All the meals come with bread & butter and your choice of soup or salad. I've tried both. The minestrone is made fresh every morning and I know I will be ordering this to go when the weather gets cold. It's wonderful soup. The dinner salads are crisp and nicely presented with kidney beans, garbanzo beans, cherry tomatoes and thinly sliced red onions.
Every time we have visited the restaurant looks busy, but as I mentioned, the owners always take the time to visit with every table and make sure the food is pleasing. I certainly wish them the best of luck, as it seems clear they are making every effort to do a great job.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - LeAnne H.Modesto, CA1276Apr 9, 2015Updated review
Well my 16 year old son asked for the Marsala from Marino's for dinner! I went in and ordered and as usual Leona made me feel welcomed!
I got home and my son ate all the garlic bread and all his Marsala... Even half a cup of the homemade chicken noodle soup!!
This place is such a gem here in Lodi!!!
Thank you again for the wonderful food, conversation and making a 16 year old boy extremely happy and stuffed tonight!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Mar 29, 2015Previous reviewPicked up Chicken Marsala and some clam chowder today and as usual Leona was fabulous! We tried Marino's for the first time tonight. Atmosphere was clean and nice. Smelled great when we entered.
We had lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs & ravioli. Everything was hot, fresh and full of flavor.
Server was new, but very nice and politeHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ortensia P.Modesto, CA234630Apr 3, 2015
The food was Fresh. Had my friends bday dinner here tonight and have to say it was pretty good. Our waiter John seemed a bit intimidated at times but he did very well. We are a hard crowd to please.
Wish they had a larger beer selection but the beers and wine came out ice cold...a few too cold (frozen) but overall we had a good time.
The owner was very nice and always making sure we had what we needed.
I would come back. Love me some pasta.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0Business owner information

It was so awesome having your group come in for the party. It was a joy to hear all of you laughing and chatting it up. So happy all of you enjoyed your dinner. Oh and the highlight was Alex and the cake. Epic! It was hilarious when I saw him trying to cut that cake. You left the birthday candles which I will hold for you. Also, thank you so very much for being so kind to the servers and sharing the cake with the them. They were in heaven and so thankful for that. John came into the kitchen all excited that he got some of the cake. It's those kinds of things that make a server elated with joy and it made them feel good for you to think of them.
Hope to see you all again soon!! - suzanne d.Bentonville, AR1292Apr 3, 2015
We were looking forward to a nice Italian dinner at the new restaurant in town.
Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Not for the lack of trying, everyone seemed genuinely eager to please.
However, from the paper wine menu awkwardly stapled together, to the meager salad, and calamari appetizer...we were not impressed. The plates looked like they were partly filled, as if trying to stretch the last of the food to make it last. Bread is served "upon request", kind of odd. But then when the bread was requested and served, it was moldy!! Ack. Yes, moldy.
From that point, we were a little leery of what might be coming out of the kitchen.
My chicken parmesan was mediocre at best, sauce was too sweet, chicken was good, but nothing special. Don's Marco Polo dish was swimming in olive oil, not appealing. Tasty, but he couldn't get past the amount of oil.
The clam chowder soup was good, in fact, Don said it was the highlight of the meal.
We spent $65 on a meal that started with moldy bread.
The owner was gracious enough to take $1.60 off of each of our meals, and not charge us an extra dollar for the clam chowder. After we paid and left, she came running after us, asked us for our receipt so she could write "$20 off next meal" on it.
I guess that was a good move on her part, since we won't return.
If I served my customer moldy bread, I would have comped the wine and brought an epic dessert to the table.
Sorry to say this restaurant is doomed.
I feel bad.....this is a family restaurant, and I'd love to see them succeed. I just don't think they have what it takes. I'm not even sure why I am giving them two stars...

So sorry you were not happy with your meal. As I explained to you the bread is made fresh daily from Genova Bakery in Stockton. We plan on putting together a FANCY wine list as we recently got our beer and wine license because Lodi was over saturated and we are trying new wines to see which ones our customers like. Personally I can't justify spending $400.00 on a wine list each week to have them made up by an outside source when they are going to change as that day we had 7 wines come in and we wanted them on the list for customers to enjoy. As far as not offering a FREE dessert, I just felt it wasn't appropriate to ask someone if they wanted more food when they weren't happy with what they had in front of them. Marco Polo is one of our customers favorites and I am sorry it wasn't one of yours as well.
Again as I said to you when you were leaving, I am so sorry you were not happy. I tried to make it up to you with discounts and a 20.00 gift. We are a moms and pops restaurant. WE aren't a large corporation where things are fancy. We are an old fashion Italian restaurant where our customers and good food come first. I can't see how what a wine list is printed on has anything to do with how the food tastes. I would like to try all the wines in Lodi before a concrete decision is made. I have never heard anyone say our plates are partly filled before as our portions are very generous and the majority of people can't even finish what they have on their plates. In closing many people don't like sour dough bread so we don't put it in front of them unless they would like to have some. I am sure gluten free people wouldn't be happy to have sour dough on their table. We are trying to be cautious and sensitive to everyone's needs. Nothing was mentioned to the server about your salad. We don't serve Chef salads before a meal, however if you wanted a larger salad, perhaps you may have asked and I would have gladly made you a larger salad for you to eat before you had your dinner.
All in all thank you for coming. Hope to see you again soon! - Patrick N.Carmichael, CA42228Jan 16, 2015

This review is for: 8-14-14, although apparently this restaurant went belly up a year later... This was the second time we dined here. Our first experience was great. Pretty good chicken parmesan, although the portion was quite small compared to some other good Italian restaurants we have eaten at. The first visit, the minestrone soup was filled with flavour, & the Italian bread was excellent. The second visit, the minestrone soup was veryyyy watered down, was not hot, & lacked flavour! They changed the beautiful tasting bread to cheapo bland bread that tasted like cheap white bread. Very disappointing. The chicken scaloppini was $13.95 & a skimpy portion. It tasted so so. Nothing to write home about. We never returned after this. It is no surprise to me that this establishment went under. You cannot change things drastically & serve small portions & expect patrons to return.
