This is old school food. Sitting at your grandmother's table while the radio plays and the doors and windows are open style food.

After a night at the club with friends where I crashed on a friend's couch I knew when I woke up that I needed comfort food. Greasy, delicious, comfort food and Mama's Daughter's has been on my to-eat list for too many years. When I realized I was a little over a mile away, there was nothing that could stop me from going. Not the headache, not my friend begging me to just stay a few more hours until she'd be good to go. Nope!

A breakfast of champions was going to happen.

And my trophy was going to be filled with delicious, delicious gravy.

I grabbed a traditional breakfast. Handmade hashbrowns, two eggs over medium, toast, bacon, and biscuits and gravy. Yep. All that. IN MY BELLY. Trust me, it was a much better decision than anything else would have been because I had to absorb the bad stuff so I could function the rest of the day. It was (of course) wonderful, and greasy, and heart-cloggingly tasty.

If home cooking food is what you crave, then this is the spot. Our first time here, plenty of free parking. Sit where you like and staff was friendly and attentive. Wife had the ham and cheese omelet with extra crispy hash browns. Great breakfast.
I had the roast beef with mashed potatoes, green beans and side salad. The side salad was enough to share. The roast beef is a lot of meat, flavorful and tender. Definitely worth the price for amount of food you get. Homemade rolls are awesome. Definitely recommend this restaurant and they have homemade pies.

I love this place. The food is yummy, old fashioned and plentiful. My friend thought I was being crazy when I said it was like the assisted living place I worked in. This is actually a compliment. Let me rephrase it: it's like a cruise ship that has docked and put up the majong. I love old fashioned! I love the clientele. I love that you can get veggies in a thousand different ways and must pick out 3 different sides to each daily special whether they match or not. If you don't you risk the whole establishment checking you for fever. I do wish I had the cajones to snap at the door dash driver who took my 80 yr old friends handicap spot and didn't look remorseful as she hobbled up with her cane and he waltzed up with his sagging pants and no plaquard. don't be doichey door dashers!

Came here in awhile with the wifey for brunch and were glad we did. Had to be in Dallas for supplies and did som exploring.

Hunger is always a good motivator to find the best spots where you're at!

Great atmosphere with that nostalgic and classic diner vibe. Very well mannered and helpful staff. The service was just what you would expect. Warm and very accommodating.

The food was great! We both had the roast beef and it was excellent with bread roll and cornbread! Perfect!!!

      We'll be coming for sure!!!

Three of us had lunch there today. Our waitress was excellent (can I say waitress and not wait staff?)
I had their catfish lunch special. I am not a really big catfish lover, but this was prepared perfectly. Along with ford okra (no salt) and their house salad. I forgot to mention my preferred dressing so it came with a house made ranch that was great
Another in our party had chicken fried steak had he said it was tender and not over cooked
Our thrift party had a grilled cheese sandwich and their homemade soup

As far as venue. Well what can I say, it's a cafe. Other than a traffic jam at the only register 'cause I guess they don't trust the wait staff to swipe your credit card. There were only five guests ahead of me and four behind me. What better than to spend my time standing up n ln line waiting

I used to frequent the Mama's Daughters Diner located on Irving Blvd, and they never failed to serve a decent breakfast. This location on Royal Lane in the Asian Trade District failed on every level. The only positive was the super hot cup of fresh coffee and the prompt service. Everything else was tragically awful. The decor was dingy and drab, and very dark, with furniture that should have been replaced decades ago. The gravy served with the biscuits came straight out of a sack. The three egg omlette must have been made with Hummingbird eggs as it was tiny. The menu offered an omelet with bacon or sausage and cheese. I asked the waitress what kind of cheese they had, and she answered shredded. No choices like Swiss, cheddar, Muenster, etc. The pancakes were rubbery and flavorless. I would heartily recommend skipping this joint for something better, perhaps IHOP...

Worst breakfast I've ever had! Potatoes were cold and hard, pancakes weren't the business either.

I know the restaurant itself is a real hole in the wall. A 6070s building. But the food is so good. Their chicken fried steak is amazing as well as their sides. And the homemade rolls are off the charts. The staff is very very friendly. If you like homemade good old southern cooking this place is a real winner.

Food was nasty. My fiancé breakfast may have been a little better I tasted it. But the soul food no no.

We visited @mamasdaughtersdiner for the first time. The place gave us a old school feeling. We had the chicken fried chicken and the #3 with ham. The flavor was great and the coffee hit just right to a great start of our weekend.
