Q:
Is there a bait shop? What kind of baits do they sell?
A:
There is a small bait and tackle shop with mostly frozen bait available with other necessities also available. Sadly the shop isn't too knowledgeable about fishing - it's more of a boutique.

Do we need fishing license to come here?
A:
No. You can fish without a license from the pier.

While this pier is not very long, the views are still AMAZING!
It is simply gorgeous out here and by no means as busy as the Santa Monica pier.
Parking however can be tricky.
Their lot as well as the one across the street fill up quickly and charge $5 per 30 minutes.
Your best bet is metered street parking which can also fill up quickly, best to go early morning or late evening.
Malibu Farm is a huge draw to the pier, love that it is split up into 3 areas and that there is so much seating, but all 3 usually have lines out the door and the wait is horrendous.
Cute souvenier store and a nice sandy beach underneath, one of my favorite piers!Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Jun 29, 2021
Small pier, water is clean and clear. Walk to the end of the pier, get up to level two, the view is better and there aren't any restaurant nor people.
Three stars as there's no parking lot nearby and not many things to do and do, unless you're fishing and surfingHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 1, 2019
Great place to hang around in Malibu. Small pier but cute. Few van vendors and a great cafe at the very cliff of pier. There is a gift and souvenirs shop At end and seems to be owned by same cafe. Everything here is themed in same paint color which looks really cool.
Parking just outside is costly and they charge $15. Luckily we got one space on road side. Great views from pier.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Ahmad H.San Francisco, CA017May 3, 2022
Malibu Pier is not only one of the longest piers in California, but also it is in one of the best locations. West of the pier you can walk for several miles when the tide isn't high. In that direction you'll cross Carbon Beach, La Costa Beach, and Las Flores Beach. East of Malibu Pier is Surfrider Beach where longboard surfers and stand-up paddle-boarders play in the mild rolling break. Malibu Farm Cafe and Restaurant is at the end of the pier and has healthy food for hungry visitors. Nobu and other restaurants are nearby as well. Parking is available in the lot next to the pier and along PCH.

We drive by each time and finally stopped by on our way back from a quick overnite in the wine country. Easy enuf to grab a street parking in a week day. There was a few filming some good-looking kids holding ice cold glasses of beer. I noticed only 'coz it was a pretty warm day and would not say no to a cold beer ^_^ Turns out it was a filming for a Coors commercial. Beautiful day with the ocean as backdrop to get some awesome shots!
We usually frequent the Santa Monica pier closer to home but I absolutely love the Malibu Pier! Less touristy. Less crowded at least on a week day, can imagine it packed on wknds. The Market was closed for filming but the restaurant at the end of the pier was open. Menu is usual Californian fares and priced to match the view.
We had a nice chat with a gentleman fishing on the pier. Visiting from Big Bear, he was camping with his family a little further up North and was just enjoying a fishing day. He caught at least 40 fish and released most of them since they were too small. He did get a couple of good Mackerel for dinner.
We enjoyed a good hour, hanging out and relaxing calming of the minds, simply listening to the waves and staring out in to the infinite shades of blue skies and horizon. AaahhhhhhHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Juan M.Chandler, AZ2016215430084Jun 21, 2017
Beautiful sights and weather year round. A couple of visits ago, fisherman were having extremely good luck catching fish. One fisherman caught two stingrays but let them go. Restaurants in area are pretty good. Love just relaxing and looking at the ocean when I come here.

$6.00 parking on a week day to park on the closest lot to the pier is pretty damn good.
Weekends I'm sure it's more. Had a blast yesterday , went metal detecting here , saw a lot of people mainly surfers of all agaes. There is a life guard on duty at all times . Here are a few pics from yesterday. I highly recommend you to come out to World Famous Malibu Beach.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
