It's expensive but it is lobster soo... meh. The bread was perfect. It was buttery and grilled until there was this yummy buttery flavorful crust on the outside and chewy goodness on the inside. The lobster was perfect. I am not a fan of a bunch of stuff mixed in with my lobster so their minimalist approach to their lobster mixture is right up my alley. If you check in on yelp you get a free bag of chips which was cool. I had a groupon which included chips and a drink but without it it is on the pricey side.
It was really good but at the end of the meal I was not full and wanted more but 13 bucks for another sandwich was a no go. This location is real chill. Nothing fancy. It looked like something that you would find at the beach. No fuss. Good food. Chill atmosphere.
Maybe one day I would splurge on the 20 some dollar large lobster roll. Maybe..Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 10858499302May 1, 2017
Groupon has sent me to another uncharted territory. My Frugal meter went insane just stepping into this place.
I ordered the lobster roll combo and upgraded from chips to the lobster bisque for $1.50 more.
The good: Bread is soft with a nice, buttery crunch. The lobster adds a nice contrast temperature and nice contrast taste. You are given one (1) piece of complimentary salt water taffy.
The bad: Everything is pricey and potion sizes are tiny! For the price, I would expect way more lobster on the roll. I guess after years of eating overstuffed poboys, those experiences has just truly spoiled me.
The ugly: There is nothing special about the lobster bisque. No outstanding flavor, taste or texture. It tasted like a watered down clam chowder to me.
Being from New Orleans and eating multiple varieties of seafood laden sandwiches, I have to tell you that all goods are overpriced here by far. I do like that they offer many specials to get people in the door, but those specials should not be your only decently priced items. Get the Groupon to try this place out like I did! JUST ENSURE YOU PURCHASE THE GROUPON FOR THE CORRECT LOCATION! They will not honor another location's Groupon. The yelp app has a check in offer for a free bag of chips that this location does honors. Lastly, the salt water taffy is tasty.
Side notes: My wife said their $10 t-shirt is cheaper than their food! She feels as though the lobster bisque had too much flour and not enough salt. She also stated that coming here makes her want to go to Maine and try a real lobster roll.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - Apr 24, 2016
So excited to find a lobster roll place within miles of our hotel!
The shop is bigger than it looks from the outside. To order, you fill out quarter sheets of paper with your choice of lunch/dinner. In addition to lobster rolls, you can have almost any kind of deli sandwich you can dream of, which I was surprised to find. Default lobster roll has mayo on it, though you can check a box if you want butter instead of mayo. Also, check in on yelp, and score a free bag of chips!
Our lunch consisted of a half lobster roll and a whole one, along with a beverage, and it totaled over $50! Yowza. I found the ratio of bread roll to lobster roll to be too much (the bread overwhelmed the lobster a bit), and the lobster meat could have used more seasoning or spices to kick up the flavor. Lobster meat itself was slightly bland.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sarena H.Irving, TX56209631Mar 27, 2018
The food was ok, I like lobster so of course when I saw the sign that said 'lobster roll' I knew I had to try it . The bread is really soft and buttery but I feel that the sandwich is missing something. It could be that I was expecting something great after seeing the photos and yelp reviews. The presentation of the food was just a ordinary subway type of presentation.
The price point is a little high but again you are eating lobster so I understand.
This location is moving to the Woodlands area as of March 30th..
The customer service is good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 20, 2015
Pretty legit little spot within a strip center for lobster rolls. I visited here when it first opened and had just come back from a weeklong trip to Boston and Portland, ME where I ate lobster rolls nearly everyday. So, needless to say, I was really excited to try a lobster roll in the Houston area since I was still craving them.
It made it less painful on the pocketbook since I had a groupon to use here as well. The lobster roll was pretty damn good for being served so far from its source where it was caught. Not as fresh as the seafood markets in the Northeast of course, but it was worth coming back.
I have yet to try their S. Shepherd location, but I'm expecting it to be great as well. Now that Cousins food truck is here in Houston, this business finally has some competition.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sharon A.Katy, TX34201451Jan 4, 2017
Being from the N.E. area I think I'm fairly qualified to opinionate my opinion on "Maine lobster and NE clam chowdah". I specifically went out of my way to get my fix on lobster rolls and chowdah. I saw the reviews and knew what to expect overall. Firstly, when you walk in to a joint advertising Maine lobster and have clams on the menu I would suggest that the staff know where the food comes from. So when I walk in and ask" where are the clams from?" Maybe it should be known, just a thought though. Secondly, maybe some friendly service or at least fake it till you make it as they say. I mean the service was anything but welcoming. The decor was cute but forced however we are not there for the decor. I get that.
Now on to the food: clam chowda had a good base flavor for a chowdah but was lacking in clams. The lobster roll was very over priced which I would have been okay except that what you get for the price is not ok. The ratio of roll to lobster to bread is lacking. Also the lobster meat was more shredded instead of chunked to disguise the lack of quantity in my opinion. Now I do get that in a place like Texas you will pay for shipping fresh Maine lobster but there is a difference between charging for the product and ripping off for a product. For the size, quality, and cost, it just didn't justify. This feels like a rip off scenario. Overall it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't go back. I just can't see paying for what I got.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jan 13, 2017Updated review
I'm writing this review as I am sitting here.
This place is officially a rip off. Came here for lunch and brought the mrs to try their sandwiches. The appear to have decreased the amount of lobster in the rolls and soup and charged the exact same price.
For a 10 dollar bisque you only get .5 ounce of lobster. So the ratio of soup to lobster is 1000 to 1. Are you freaking kidding me?! It's like a dollar of lobster and heavy cream and butter. F that.
Now for the rolls they increased their bread 10 fold, but lowered or kept the contents. So a 14 dollar sandwich is 95% butter bread and yeah. What a complete and utter rip off.
Do yourself the favor if you feel like eating here, just take 40 bucks and throw it away. You'll be just as hungry when you leave if you do.
This is the last time.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Oct 29, 2013Previous reviewSo this place is delicious. Great food, amazing flavors, and nice portion sizes.
"Wow all the compliments and a 3 star review?"....
The answer? Price. I had HALF A sandwich, a regular bisque, and a drink and it was 21.00 dollars. FOR JUST ME.
Now I realize it's real lobster and I should appreciate it is some of the most expensive meat, per pound, out there. However I know for how much meat I had on the delicious sandwich, I more than paid for it.
Anyways if you want a delicious lunch, price aside, check this place out. - 722308983Aug 14, 2014
Lobster rolls are pretty hard to find in Houston so you also really can't get that picky. A lot of ppl below have complained about the prices of the lobster rolls here but if you've had a real lobster roll from NY you'd know that the prices are similar to each other. I do agree that the bread to lobster ratio is off with more bread than lobster but the whole sized sandwich in NY is literally the size of a half here at mainely. And they end up being the same price.
With that being said the lobster is pretty fresh here. I only added a little extra pepper to taste. We also go both the clam chowder and lobster bisque. Clam chowder was pretty good but the lobster bisque tasted too strongly of wine and had only one little piece of lobster which we ended up playing paper scissors rock for. I was really disappointed by the bisque.
The highlight of the entire meal though was surprisingly the WHOLE fried clams. Don't get the strips!! Those things were so juicy and full of flavor and are probably what will bring me back to Mainely.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Note: I am no lobster/crab roll expert. Yes, I am aware being from TX gives me a slanted POV when it comes to prices = portions. Now that's out of the way, on to the review :-)
I've had this spot bookmarked for a while now & finally decided to give it a try. I was greeted by the staff upon entry. One of the girls working the counter gave me a quick run down of the ordering process. Noticed it was very clean & organized in there, which is always a plus.
Was a bit hungry, but knew I was having dinner w/ friends later so I went for the 1/2 crab roll. They honored the Yelp check-in offer for a free bag of chips with no hesitation. My order came quickly.
I'll say the roll itself was toasted perfectly. Good buttery taste, but not greasey & a nice lil crunch. The crab was ok tasting. Not horrible, but didn't just blow me away. Perhaps I was expecting more due to the hype of this chain coming to Houston. Don't get me wrong, the roll was tasty, but I wasn't blown out of the water.
I'll add my $0.02 about the portion & price. Again, I know it's a crab roll. I'm aware this establishment does not sell items that belong on the $1 menu. And yes I know all things aren't meant to be served jumbo size.
However, I can't really justify the price when comparing the portion. I looked down & I'd eaten the sandwhich w/in 5 minutes. I eat slow & I was fiddling w/ my phone. I looked away from the phone to grab another bite & was disappointed to find I was done.
This place is worth a try. I'll be back to try out some of their other items, including the fried clams I saw posted the day I dropped in. Hopefully, a few more tries will improve my opinion. Really want to like this place.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

I was expecting a hot sandwich but the lobster was cold. The bread is toasted so it's hot with cold lobster on it tossed in Mayo. The homemade lemonade was Terrible, like they filled it with ice that melted, so it was watered down. They also have hi-c lemonade so just drink that one. The lobster bisque was great, thick, hot & creamy. $14 for a cold lobster sandwich is overpriced in my eyes, especially when it's mainly bread so...I tried it but won't be back
