The Carson Pririe Scott Furniture Outlet and the Macy's Furniture Clearance Center are within a 2 minute drive from each other. Maybe they're both hit and miss but we were referred to the Carson's Outlet and didn't like anything there. We liked a few things at the Macy's Outlet. There was a much bigger selection.

We got a large 3 piece sectional for about $1, 700. The full price at Macy's is $4,000. So we paid less than half. Tip: If you want to buy something, have the sales associate pull the tags immediately or it might be gone if you go to look at something else. We had her pull the tags and then went to look at rugs.

We had no idea where to begin with area rugs. There were stacks and stacks. Luckily, the sales man was really really knowledgeable and friendly. He knew everything from how the rugs were manufactured, to how to care for them, to how to coordinate them with furniture. The good thing was that since the furniture we were buying was right there we could take rugs over and see them with the couch. We paid $400 for a 6x8 foot Karastan rug that retails at Macy's for $1,600.

We bought this sectional for 50% off (appx) and this rug for 75% off.

You have got to be kidding me.
This place is like a really REALLY bad thrift store.
Everything I saw was severely damaged in one way or another.

Coffee tables with huge chunks of wood missing on the edges, missing doors, torn couch cushions, and the mattresses looked like they'd been dragged through the parking lot before being placed on display.

      And where's the discount people?
Couch was originally $1200 is now $1150?! With a 12 gauge shotgun blast in the cushion?!
An ottoman that apparently been mauled by a tiger for $900.
I swear some of the mattresses were still smoking from whatever burning warehouse they pulled them out of. One even had a police chalk outline on it.

My only wish is that I had my phone with me to take pics of what I'd seen to show to everyone who doubts it....the horrors I've seen.
      you can't even imagine.

All joking aside, this store was really the worst place I've ever gone to view furniture. It really doesn't deserve a star at all but I can't review without one

      Store Review:
Hit or miss... that would be how I would summarize your experience here. After reading the reviews, I was extremely nervous about stopping by to check out couches, but I eventually gave up and decided to check out the inventory here. We had been shopping for a couch for months and saw this nice brown leather couch for 1400 at Macy. Even with a new credit care opening, I still felt that the couch was overpriced. When I walked in I was greeted by some very bad couches and tables that were like the ones described below. Corners missing, irregular paint patterns, parts destroyed. I thought this was going to be a bad experience. These were priced 90% off..... As I walked back, I was amazed they had the exact same couch as the one I wanted and it was only 499 dollars. No damage at all. There was a sticker on the bottom that indicated it was purchased 1 month ago to someone in IL. After discussing with the staff, I found out a lot of the furniture is a mix of returns from customers who did not want the product, damage in transit, manufacture defect, floor models, etc. It may seem like a thrift store for some because yes it has been in someones home but likely not for long. I quickly bought up the chair before another customer could take it.

Shipping was without issue. It did cost me 100 dollars to transfer to Chicago. The company that transports is not associated with macy so you can't check online for times. Transporter staff was friendly.

Pros- heavily discounted furniture from macy, wide selection

Cons- staff are not helpful likely no commission here, unknown history of furniture if this bothers you, long wait before the furniture will ship, hit or miss experience depending on what is available during your visit

Hidden deals- sign up for a new macy cards to save 15% off

So I went here AFTER Carson's... Their mattresses are similar to Carson's, but they are hotel set instead... Furniture seemed OK too, but there was nothing that caught my eye. Prices were definitely better at Carson's, but maybe that was because of the sale.

I guess sine they are so close it can't hurt to try both.

Friendly service here also SO YAY for that.. seems so hard to find here now a days

I would give this place 5 stars because I think it has FANTASTIC deals, a huge selection and it's a great mix of high end and lower end. I have found many pieces here that are great. Stand outs are the chairs/ recliners. I'm taking 2 stars off for service.

My mom and I found an insane couch there. If I had the space I would have bought it in 2 seconds. It was originally $12,000 or $15,000, but was maybe $6,000 there? It was stunning and I wanted my mom to get it for the lakehouse. She was asking various questions about shipping methods to another state, etc, then the sales rep randomly started pushing that there were sooo many interested buyers. A few might buy ANY MINUTE, blah, blah. Oh and tacky ass, with her DISGUSTING caked on make up mentions she works on commission. Ugh. Then work on your appearance and don't REEK like cigs. Done.

Then, I got a huge gift card for Macy's and took a trip out here. I got lost, and after about 90 min of traffic and one wrong turn I was losing my f-ing mind. I called and politely asked how to get there, I knew I was very close. I could hardly understand this man, and he has the balls to say, after I repeated a turn he told me to take, only double checking, to say "If you'd shut up and listen, I could tell you how to get here. Damn." Oh-My-Shit. Has he lost his mind?!? I admit, I lost it, told him I would never go to his f-ing store again and drove off. I called my mom, shaking, and the dick was giving me the wrong directions anyway!!!! I went o Macy's a few days later and bought myself a bunch of Benefit make up. I needed it for my business anyway.

We had an AMAZING experience here. $7,000 worth of furniture for $2,200 including delivery. Just awesome!

The place is huge and there is a good selection of both damaged or returned items. Definitely come here if you're shopping for a mattress. We bought two sets (over $1500 original price) for $349 per set.

We also purchased a sectional at 50% off that was in near perfect condition, a $2200 armoire that has been discontinued and we picked it up for $99!!! $99?? I know, I wasn't about to walk away without buying one! They still have 5 left! Although I'm sure we picked the best one of the bunch. The others had faulty hinges but still very nice if you know how to fix it.

Our salesguy Tom was AWESOME and who was his colleague Jane who heard me complaining to my husband that I needed water badly. Seeing that I was pregnant, she immediately offered me a bottle of water from her own personal inventory. Super sweet.

I highly recommend coming here is you need to furnish your home!

I was very impressed with the selection here. I found my dream couch there for $519. The selection there is pretty big so there is a good chance you'll find what you're looking for at a decent price.

The furniture all looks pretty good except for the occasional dent, scratch or tear so be sure to check all sides of the piece you are considering for anything you may not be able to fix yourself.

Also, if you see something you like, GET IT THEN or else it will be gone the next day. That's what happened to my dream couch. Luckily there is a Carson Pirie Scott furniture clearance center just around the corner and I found a couch there. The Crate and Barrel outlet store is also on that block where the rugs are pretty much a steal.

All the mattresses are used aka someone had them in their filthy apartment for 30 days, then returned it. In the age of bedbugs in most urban areas, used mattresses are not a wise decision.

The furniture is so-so at best. A few things in the store looked decent. But most of the couches and chairs were at least $500. That's for something that is damaged and not particularly what you were looking for.

I'll definitely be back for any of my future furniture needs!

We went to a few different stores prior to Macy's Clearance Center searching for a couch that we could both could agree on; 5 stores later we decided to make the drive from Chicago to Naperville.

We actually visited Macy's clearance center twice. The first time we didn't have much luck, but the second time we purchased a beautiful sectional couch at a GREAT price! Jane is possibly one of the nicest people I've ever met! She helped us find the perfect couch!
      Thank you Jane!!!! :)

This is the better value store for mattresses (vs. Carson's Outlet around the corner)...

The sets all have a set price. $399 for a queen set. Whether it is a low-end mattress or a luxury high-end mattress. Everything is also very clean and the mattresses are well wrapped.

The challenge is arriving at the store when the selection is good. When I went, all the 'good' mattresses had a "sold" sticker on them...and all that was left, were the cheaper mattresses that were thinner...The saleslady told me to wait till the next mattress shipment since they hadn't gotten a "mattress truck" in for a while..

So, you may get lucky. I didn't.
