So this is more a a romantic adult spot, or dogs...not really for kids. No outside food or music. You can reserve in advance for a tasting or split a bottle, whatever you like and it comes with some yummy snacks. I'm not sure about walking around… more

Large and attractive place that serves and sells a variety of wines produced on site.
Most of their grapes are grown at this site, a small portion comes from upstate NY.
Their Cabernet Franc was very good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for visiting! We are thrilled that you enjoyed the Cabernet Franc -- it is one of our favorite grapes to grow on Long Island. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Best,
Macari Family

I have been a wine club member at Macari for quite some time and I wish I visit more often to enjoy some of the members' benefits. I managed to visit this past Saturday with some guests from out-of-state. I wanted to seize the moment and showcase New York/Long Island wine country. Macari did not disappoint!
Macari is aesthetically pleasing, from the wine bar to the indoor tasting room which gives way to the closed-in deck. The effort to simple details was not missed by us - for example, the furniture on the closed-in deck is iron but there are sheepskin throws (synthetic fur) on each chair which warms up the whole appearance.
Service was superb - our waiter (I am bummed I do not remember his name) eloquently described the wines as he poured. He was warm and invited us to inquire about any of the wines.
We started our tasting with the Sparkling Pino Noir (I strongly recommend this sparkling) - the flavors of the berries were profound and quite refreshing. We continued with Macari's different Chardonnays, Tocai Friulano (this wine is only available in the tasting room and not available for online purchase as I have tried to order it). And we wrapped up our tasting with the Dos Aguas. Dos Aguas is a medium body blend which paired very well with their pizza.
Tasting Room Notes -
I would like to see Macari showcase Bergen Road as a part of its tasting menu. It is a gem and one of Macari's greatest reds (full body).
I love the pizza menu which is new (first time for me). It is a great benefit when one can go wine tasting and have lunch at the same place/time.
And, Oh la la - the new addition - The Olive Oil! - it has such a punch. I came home with 2 bottles. Offers baguettes and you will have me coming back!
Hints - reservation is strongly recommended, even for wine club members.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Charlie S.Long Island, NY01Apr 14, 2024
Wine is amazing! The ambiance has a great vibe! A great place to enjoy with family, friends, significant other. Not to far from Briermere Farms.

Came here on a cloudy Saturday morning(don't judge) to wait out the rain for an outdoor excursion near by. We were a party of four and we got seated right away, which is apparently not the norm and we got lucky. We all did the tasting menu and got a few things to munch on too. The mushroom pizza with chili oil was DELICIOUS. I got a few bottles to go because it was quite good. My favorite was one of their Chardonnays.

Birthday party for my cousin! Beautiful beautiful beautiful vineyard, after the private party indoors we moved outside for laughs and games. I was a little disappointed in lack of sweet red wines but hey it wasn't my party. I enjoyed the overall wine tasting experience and the vibe was the best here. Excellent host and customer service as well

Macari Vineyards makes a very nice Sauvignon Blanc. One of the best on the North Fork. I can not speak for the other wines... as I do not recall having had any. The tasting room is a bit too much for me. It is big, rather commercial looking, and seems set up for large events. Birthdays and Bachelorette kind of events. I usually just drive in and buy a few bottles of Sauvignon Blanc and then head on home. It is also a rather large vineyard and seems to be a popular wine (no matter what the varietal) in most restaurants on the island, including Shelter Island and the Hamptons. Well, good for them! If I wasn't so anti-social I would give them more stars...

Beautiful location with a fun tasting experience. The staff explain each wine well, and there was great variety in the flavors. After the tasting, I bought a bottle of ice wine, which was delicious. I recommend this vineyard, but make sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

I came here with a group of friends when Covid was still very much a concern. We were so impressed with their outdoor dining setup. The tables were nicely spaced from each other and our table comfortably fit our 5 person group.
We also were not rushed and leisurely did a wine tasting, as well as ate a cheese, fruit, and bread tasting.
Highly recommend for groups! We came during the afternoon to enjoy the nice early fall weather and then went out to eat for dinner in the Riverhead area. Great day trip from NYC!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Dec 30, 2022
An excellent, excellent time yesterday for the 4 of us and my little Zoey.
Our Pita chips with Hummus was delicious (We ordered 2 of them) and the Charcutterie Board with an assortment of cheese, cold cuts, figs, dried fruit, nuts, olives, and hummus was amply portioned, fresh and delicious!
And maybe most important, we all enjoyed the wines, so much so that I really couldn't pick a favorite.
I chose a sampling of their reds, a Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and a Petit Verdot. All three had a different taste on the pallet, and all delicious.
And also most important, a huge shout out to Jeff our server, for the great suggestions and service!!
Macari has a huge covered and heated patio area, comfortable seating, a private tasting room and a bar area.
And Pet Friendly is a huge plus!
An excellent choice for an afternoon out and I am sure we will return!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
