I think we have one of the BEST Science Museums in the country! We really love this place. The programs are amazing, so many of their exhibits are interactive/engaging and (obviously) highly educational.
When the kids were young, this was one of the only places we visited where they didn't ask to play on their iPads because the exhibits are so engaging. We even came here for a few date nights because it's fun for us too. It's conveniently located in downtown St. Paul, so there are many great restaurants nearby.
There's a small cafe with food and drink and the gift shop has a lot of great selections too. Try to come out during the early summer for some outdoor mini-golf with amazing river views.
Attached parking ramp has plentiful spaces and prices are reduced for people with annual memberships.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2786178Mar 22, 2024
Spent about 4 hours here, lots of interactive exhibits and live demonstrations, great span of topics, a solid science museum experience, would recommend.

I love the science museum! Only reason I didn't give 5 star is due to the managing of tickets for the VR experience. No clear guidelines. We were not told we had a time slot. We waited in line for 20 minutes and then someone who had tickets for an hour earlier was bumped to the front, even though it was then an hour past their time slot. Need a better and more fair system.

Nice science museum. Relatively well maintained. Average size for large metro science museum. Tries to cover a little on a lot of topics. A fair amount of interactive exhibits but nothing that was super kid engaging. Not a destination but not bad if in area.

What a wonderfully HUGE museum and right in the heart of St. Paul. Our family decided to get a membership and so far we've been there twice in 1 month. It's already paid for the membership by going twice! Crazy! It's definitely worth the cost.
Parking: There are 2 different entrances to the parking garage. The top entrance is extremely narrow so if you have a large SUV...I suggest going to the lower parking entrance ramp. The garage is huge and easily accessible to the elevators to get you to the L level. P4/P5 are the best levels to park in my opinion.
Lockers: These are probably the best lockers I've ever seen in a public space like this. There is a computer screen to the left when you walk in from the elevators. You pick 4 digits for your code, pay using a credit card and then it gives you a # for your locker. They have regular size and large lockers. This time I got a small for $2 for about 3-4 hrs! So worth it.
The Museum: lots of lovely interactive exhibits everywhere. Our favs are the race on the main level where you can race against T. rex, TC the bear, etc. Another one is the astronaut where you record a video and your name and it appears on the HUGE astronaut. And tons of fossils!
Omni Theater: we've seen the sea lions and space shows. Both are awesome! Love the comedy during the space odyssey show.
This place also has lovely views of the port of St. Paul. Must see if you love science.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 4, 2023
We attended the uncorked wine festival at the science museum and it was so much fun! All the attractions were open and we got to explore the museum while drinking wine, how could things get any better than that?! It was only after hours from 8-11 pm so I wish that we had a little bit more time there. I'd say 4 hours would have been perfect to really enjoy everything! They even added a few exhibitions since the last time I'd been there, like a whole sports section where you can race a dinosaur! There was also a lot of parking on site that was only $15 for the night. Overall would recommend!

The staff are super helpful and friendly but the museum experience is subpar. Would be great for a younger audience. No wheel chair access in the auditorium.

This is a great science museum for kids to learn. As adults, we noticed there were kids everywhere cutting us in line multiple times, running around bumping into people, and staring at you waiting for you to get off the "ride." The science museum is really cool and large with interesting exhibits; our favorites were the quackery one, sports one, and animal art one. My husband thoroughly enjoyed this museum, but I thought it was overpriced for $29 per ticket plus $10 parking. I just didn't think it was worth it for me as an adult, but I'll still rate it highly since my husband had fun!

We brought our kids here over the weekend. I was impressed by the size of the place! The museum is easy to get to, just a few minutes off of I-94 and they have a parking garage under the museum.
We got here early, a little after opening and I highly recommend it as by the time we left around 12:30 or so, the place was packed, as was the cafe in the lobby. We walked up to the front at 10:30, at 12:30, the line was snaking all over. I harp on this stuff because if you have small kids, they might decide to have a melty-meltdown in the queue.
Once inside, there are plenty of things to see and interact with across several floors from dinosaurs to a variety of math and science experiments. We spet a few hours making our way through the spaces. Many of the things were better suited to kids older than 5 years old, but my toddler still had fun.
My kids had a great time and we will be back soon!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 2023
I love the Science museum and with Omnifest going on my son and I decided to check out some movies. The screen is massive and you feel totally encapsulated in the experience. We saw 3 showing and had a couple hrs in between so we checked out the museum. I forgot how much fun it is. Everyone was so warm and friendly. I was disappointed in how some of the guests treated the place. Leaving water bottles and trash everywhere is not cool. Parking was $10 attached to the museum. Pro tip if you get any type of assistance you get discounted admission and movie tickets.
