Watched Shakespeare in the park here, has to be my favorite location for a live play!
The amphitheater style was open and intimate, arrive early if you want good seats or any seats at all. Lovely community of people. It's a decent sized recreational park with courts and spaces to play different sports. Lots of dog walkers.
The parking is awful, very tiny lot which is always full so be prepared to look around for a while. The location of the amphitheater wasn't the easiest to find, I expected big signs everywhere which apparently they don't believe in.
I'll be back next year to watch Shakespeare in the park!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2267188412Jan 17, 2024Updated review
This park continues to be a great place for nature viewing. The cold frigid weather has created a nearly dead landscape of the shrubs, bushes and trees. Of course it isn't dead...just winterized and dormant. Stark contrast to summertime foliage. Bundled up and carefully walking around any obvious shiny icy spots. On a recent afternoon I witnessed a bald eagle that appeared to swimming and struggling in the cold icy lake. Tip...the police cannot help an animal, only wild game folks can. Also, be sure you identify the item in the lake prior to calling! This eagle was huge! I mistook it for a person at first. The bathroom is open but the pipes are frozen, so...watch out. Still a great dog park if you have a dog. Keep moving and stay warm fellow Yelpers.

Also nice to watch the doggies playing as this park is popular for furry friends. Lots of areas for your dog to go in the water. Two areas too. One for the big dogs and another for the little dogs. If I had a dog I'd bring them here! There's even an area to wash your dog. This is not a huge park but very nice with lots of green lawns and excellent picnic areas. The bathroom is clean as well. Great views of Bellevue too. Happy Park Hopping fellow yelpers.
Aug 5, 2022Previous reviewI don't have a dog, but, this is for sure the place to come if you have one! Literally a dog paradise of sorts for the pooches. Also, a bomb a....s playground for the kids. If I was a kid I would have loved it! Distinct play areas and a swing that worked like a pendulum and hella fun for the two kids riding tandem. There are two parking lots for this park and it is right next to Lake Washington. Like, literally, right next to it! I love water and was pleased to take a brief walk (1.7 miles to be exact) around the perimeter of the park. One of the parking lots is next to an area which indicates access to swimming. If a heat wave hits again I know where I will be! The first parking lot was packed and I lucked out and got a spot. But don't worry because like I said there is another lot. Both lots are on the perimeter of the park and offer equal access to the trails. The bathroom was clean and it was a beautiful mid day stroll. I say stroll because you would not come here to "hike", like in my beloved Garland Regional Park down in Carmel Valley, CA, but it is a pleasant outdoor experience. Loads of places to have a picnic all over the place. Lastly, wild blackberry bushes all over the place. Brought me back to my childhood and visitng my Grandma in Longview, WA. Yes, I ate one, and yes, it was tart as could be. Probably why Grandma used so much sugar in her jam. People were helping themselves to the bountiful berries. I will back to take a swim at some point. Cheers and happy Yelping.

I come to this park al the time for work functions but decided to come on my own one day. I absolutely love this park. It's beautiful and has lots to offer. Great for the kids as there is a play structure. You can also play tennis or pickle ball, walk along one of the trails, swim in the lake, or sit out on the docks. There are two side to this park. The north and south side. The north side is where the parking lot and access to the docks are. Great place to come for activities or relaxation. Just make sure to come early if you want to find a parking spot. The later in the day it gets, the worse the parking situation gets. A long line forms from the top of the street and it becomes a painful experience. Kinda like Costco on a Saturday.

Beautiful little park with multiple beach areas and a really nice off leash large dog and small dog area. There's also tennis courts that have been converted to pickleball and plenty of bathrooms as well as a child playground. Plenty of parking as well. Definitely stop by if you're in the area. It's right off the freeway and maybe a good place to wait out traffic.

Such a beautiful fall day to enjoy the fresh air in Mercer Island, thanks to far too many road closures we decided to park and enjoy the afternoon by exploring Luther Burbank Park.
My children enjoyed the scenic views, fresh air, and playground. I'm actually happy the traffic prompted my husband to take a detour and explore; we highly recommend visiting Luther Burbank Park.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - 117149182Sep 1, 2021
Another great park on our park exploration weekends. Luther is one of the larger parks on Mercer Island. I've had experiences where parking can be challenging if you go during peak hours. However, if you can make it during non busy times, you'll find that the parking lot not too far from the walking paths.
There's a playground area that is well equipped and when I was pushing my daughter on the swings, I noticed other adults picking blackberries from the bushes.
There's some pretty great views of Lake Washington in some of the grassy areas and there is a pier you can fish/walk that is pretty easy to access.
People I encountered along my walk were pretty pleasant to interact with.
We will definitely continue to come here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 28, 2021
Luther Burbank Park is one of the larger parks on Mercer Island with some walking trails, a community center, off-leash dog areas, and several small beach access.
We followed the GPS and parked at the South Lot. From there, we chose the low-land path, which is along the water, finding several pier access where families were relaxing, having a picnic, and even fishing. Continuing northward, we found the off-leash dog area full of happy dogs playing on the grounds or going into the water. The last northernmost point to visit is the Calkins Point Sand Beach. We looped back southward, walking along the wetlands that have an elevated platform path, and found the children's play area, community center, and restrooms. The last visit before heading back to the car is the earth sculpture called "The Source".
My favorite part is being next to the water on the piers. Because it's east facing, when I went in mid-afternoon, the sun was westward and partially blocked by the tall trees. It was peaceful and absolutely lovely.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - May 14, 2021
Great dog park! A great park for picnicking with the family. There are lots of spots to sit on grass. A few different dog park options one where does can swim in the water kind of rocky another running around in the sand. they have an area where you can wash your dog. Play ground for kids, clean restrooms, plenty of parking

This is an absolutely amazing park, so much nature in the city, I can't believe we missed this till now. There is something for everyone in this park. Amazing water views, kids play area, dog park, and lots and lots of walking trails. We spent a couple hours walking and only explored a section of the park.
The large park also makes it easy to maintain distance from others.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
