First time I visited Luther Burbank Park it was the summer of 2004. My college sweetie is from MI so he took me there on this visit.

Now every time I come visit we always go to the park. Our favorite area is the off leash dog area. But, on the way to the dog area there's a grassy hill with benches that you can sit at and look through the trees at Lake Washington.

It's also a great spot to take your Dick's burgers and have a picnic.

I went to this park today, and I had a great time!  They have great barbeque set ups with large grills for carne asada and barbeque. It's also probably one of the most dog friendly parks I've been to in all of Seattle.  There's a leashless area, areas for leashes, and a cool set of rolling hills that I saw a lot of pet owners taking advantage of.  There is also a nice dock area where you can safely leave a boat, and a swimming area for kids.  We went out tubing after eating some grub.  If you're going to a park alone for some peace and scenery, I'd probably recommend Discovery first.  If you're going with a group for a barbeque, this place is quite good though.  It seems like one of the underrated parks of Seattle to me.

What I like about this park is the open area--I love trees, but sometimes it's really nice to run about in a field and pretend you're walking the back 40 of your estate or that you're in a perfume commercial. Luther Burbank Park has lovely open areas, including some fields that have trails mowed through them and a very cool earth sculpture that must look great on a rainy day (you kind of have to see it to know what I'm talking about, and believe it or not, we were there when it wasn't raining).

We went to this park as we're trying to check out every off-leash area around the city. This was a little one, but nice, with several areas where Sofa (our large and generally motionless dog) could run right up to the water, almost get in, and then bark at it for daring to get his feet wet. There are also some kind of fun, weird things like the ruins of a dairy barn--I like when structures are just left behind like that.

The only drawback to this park--and I hate that there is one, but there is one--is the sound of traffic from I-90. When I'm in a park, I like to feel like I'm in a park, and the low roar of traffic from certain areas detracted from that feeling.

Sofa, however, had no complaints.

My dog (on leash) and I took a stroll in the park after romping around at the off leash park. It's a beautiful park.  We also went on the docks- and no- we didn't chase the birds off- they flew off on their own when we were walking by the docks.   I liked the art display throughout the park- especially earth sculpture.  There were open areas with grass. I can see myself coming back for a picnic in the open areas.  There are tennis courts and playgrounds. This park has something for everyone!  The trails were easy to walk on.

Best park on Mercer Island, and definitely one of the better parks in the area. Right on Lake Washington, with a swimming beach, fishing pier, boat dock, picnic tables, barbecues, playground, wetlands, tennis courts (it can be hard to get on one) and an off leash dog area. I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out too. Great place to take kids to run around (sort of like the off leash dog thing) and just enjoy the day. The people fishing off the dock will amuse you. Really.
