1st time here. For lunch. Wife had the chicken Marsala (9.99). With tomato basil soup. Both were wonderful in her opinion. I thought they were very good. I had the soup and salad salad was fresh and soup very good.
Waiter Freddy was excellent. Very attentive to our needs.
Decor is nice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 3, 2019
Great portions, great food, and great service at an affordable rate...as it should be at all restaurants. I had wanted to try Louie for quite a while, I am glad we finally had the opportunity to try it. I would describe Louie's atmosphere as a quaint little Italian Restaurant. We were there for a friends birthday and even though we were a large party the service was as if we were a couple or a small family; very attentive at all times offered us samples of wine when we were unsure of our selection. The bread was on constant refill as well as beverages. We brought in cake to celebrate our lovely birthday girl and the crew sang and offered all the dishes and silverware to celebrate. I would highly recommend Louie's for any special occasion.
P.S. They have a small area that looks like it could be sectioned off and there was a very small wedding reception/dinner taking place while we were there. Very cute!Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - 2045911302Jan 12, 2019
I can't say I was impressed. Customer service was good, though our waitress was gone for abnormally extended periods, and it wasn't busy at all in here tonight. BUT, she was always sweet and courteous, a total gem.
Based off my companion's thoughts: He did not enjoy his salad. He thought the amount of dressing was very disproportionate to the amount of veg, too.
His meal: Chicken Parmesan on a bed of spaghetti. From what I observed, the chicken looked burnt, to which his tastebuds confirmed. He did say the spaghetti itself was good.
My meal: Tortellini al Panna (the pink cream sauce). Not bad, definitely flavorful and topped with some fresh basil. I was able to eat half of it before I had to tap out and happily took the rest home.
Desserts: We split 3 of them because we have no self control.
He had: Cheesecake. Good, but a little dry.
I had: Tiramisu. Good, but a little soggy.
Chocolate Cake: Just right. -thumbs up-
Overall, I think I'd only come back if someone else was paying. To me, the customer service was the best part of my time here.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 11, 2018
We came here because of the Yelp reviews, but we're coming back for the food!!! Everything from the garlic knot bread, which was complementary, to the tomato and basil soup to the main course was on point. We had the Louie's Favorite Ribeye Marsala, which was a generous enough portion, I'm so glad we shared the plate. We both left stuffed and completely content. We are now going for a walk before bedtime to walk off that generous portion. I can't believe we got all that food for under $25--add the $5 tip and we paid a total of $30.
How is it we have never heard of this place before?!?! It's so much better than Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill put together. Quite honestly I haven't been a fan of Olive Garden for quite sometime and Macaroni Grill was starting to lose its appeal. I guess it's time for my Farewell John letter, now that I found this place. It's cozy, intimate and warm. The waitstaff is friendly and accommodating. Needless to say, we'll be back and will more than likely bring others.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 1494541196Apr 21, 2018
Found this gem of the restaurant when searching for Italian food on yelp. All the positive and outstanding comments from other yelpers encouraged us to visit.
We were greeted by a very nice and clearly Italian woman who set us immediately. Menu is extensive so take your time and review all the deliciousness. We had an appetizer of stuff mushrooms and the cream sauce cheese sauce creamy cheesy sauce that came with it was truly drinkable on its own. I'm not sure how they coaxed that amount of flavor out of those cheeses but I used the delicious homemade yeasty rolls to continue to eat the sauce once the mushrooms are gone. My husband ordered The veal campri for his meal and I ordered the lobster ravioli!! OMGEEE! The lobster ravioli is by far the most delicious dish I've had in a while. An excellent price only around $18.
It was such a fantastic meal and we did order a bottle wine which was about $40... In total with a nice tip we spent right around $100. Without the wine it would've been extremely affordable the quality of the food.
This is a great neighborhood Italian restaurant not mention the quality and authentic Italian recipes. Do yourself a favor when you're craving Italian and make sure to visit this clearly local and family owned business.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 3, 2018
The bread is delicious. Enjoy every bite. But this place is also such a great place to gather for a group. The prices are great, the servings are generous and the service is friendly. It feels homey and welcoming when you arrive. They are quick to greet you and seat you. The menu is pretty extensive too. I've ordered the Alfredo cannelloni, and the chicken Marsala, the pizza and the meatballs on the side. Let's start with The Alfredo cannelloni was rich and flavorful, and I had to take some of it home. The meals come with soup or salad options and both are consistently good. The pizza was larger than I expected, and the cheese was so delicious that I insisted everyone try a piece and my guests agreed that it was fresh or genuine cheese that you can taste the difference. They have a wine list, but I always order a coffee at the end of the meal and leave room for dessert.
Would also like to note that I arranged a luncheon here for my group of students, and the owner was great to work with and provided a wonder dining experience for our students. The service was outstanding and the students loved the foodHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 9, 2017
If you are tired of Italian dishes that look and taste like they were previously frozen, then you have to try Louie Italian restaurant. Their food was great and the price was right.
I drive by this restaurant five times out of the week and had never given it a second look. Big mistake. I'm glad I bid on one of their gift cards at work. We made a reservation on a Friday night, but you don't really need one. We were warmly greeted at the door and immediately seated. I took a star off because once seated it took a while for someone to
acknowledge us.
I ordered the cheese ravioli. They delivered warm, tasty ravioli with the right amount of marinara to dip my complimentary garlic bread into. The garlic bread comes out warm. You can't have just one. The meal came with a salad. I opted for their house dressing. You must try it. It's delicious.
My boyfriend had the steak and subbed the side for veggies. The steak was a tad bit over cooked. The veggies were the best. They must have sautéed them in the olive oil with Italian spices.
The restaurant is located in the old Souper Salad building. They kept the same layout, but have added an Italian flare.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My family and I had a great early Father's Day celebration lunch. We arrived a little early, so we were the first ones eating for the day. This was everyone else's first time here and they really liked the interior. We were seated and began to peruse the menu. We got a couple of appetizers (fries calamari and fries zucchini sticks). Both were fries up nicely, with a thicker, crunchier coating on the calamari. Both dishes gave a great amount of food and was perfect for the seven of us.
We all orders a variety of dishes (lasagna, cannelloni. Salmon, pizza. Chicken Siciliana, etc.). With a choice of soup or salad, and complimentary bread, the meal was filling and very good. The bread could have been a little more flavorful. But it was soft and fresh. I think everyone had nothing but positive words about the food. Several of us ordered desserts, which all had good flavor. My Limoncello was especially good! Great way to end the meal and a great end to Father's Day Lunch.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Apr 26, 2016Previous reviewI was out with work friends for a birthday lunch. And the birthday boy chose Louie, a
restaurant I had not heard of. There was a group of ten of us and we were all anxious for a good lunch out. I could definitely see where this might be more of an evening destination as the interior is dark woods and the lighting on the minimal side. We were seated at a table that accommodated us comfortably. Lots of times a group gets squeezed in and nobody likes that.
We were given our drinks and our orders were taken. Fresh, warm, delicious bread was brought to the table and I had to put on my company manners to avoid scarfing down a couple pieces immediately. I did wait till later on to have my second piece. The lunch menu was well priced and had typical Italian favorites. I chose the Chicken Piccata and a salad. The food came in a decent amount of time. The salad wasn't anything extraordinary and their house vinaigrette was good. My entree turned out to be very pleasing to he palette. The citrus and caper flavors melded together and worked wonderfully with the chicken and pasta. I wish there had been a little more chicken to the dish, but it worked fine for a mid day meal. Guess that's just the manly appetite part of me coming out. It really was very good.
Looking forward to returning. Maybe for my birthday lunch. - Angela M.Gainesville, FL85102276May 14, 2019
Not far from Medical City, the restaurant sits behind Chili's and has plenty of parking.
It is a quiet, intimate restaurant and not the place you take a future business client. If you want to gather with family, close friends, or that special someone; then this should be a restaurant to seriously consider.
There are items at various price ranges and the choices are plentiful.
From the bread to the soup and entrees, it was all enjoyable. The walnut encrusted salmon was a particularly nice choice. If you like salmon, order it!
Although you don't head to an Italian restaurant for the coffee, the coffee was really good and would be nice with some of the excellent looking desserts that I failed to save room for, but certainly might in the future.
The only reason I did not rate the restaurant a five was that the service was a bit lack for some people's standards and the flat bread was not cut well enough into slices making the topping fall off when we tried to divide it.
Overall, a great experience.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 2017
I couldn't wait to post this review. Louie restaurant has by far the most delicious food and amazing service! From beginning to end, I would call this a "dining experience". Not once was my glass ever empty and the waiter was so helpful in recommending dishes and educating us on the quality ingredients. I was very pleased. I got to try the Chicken Florentine which was mouthwatering and my guest had the Salmon Newburg which he stated was extremely fresh and tasty! We also had our appetizer dishes such as the calamari & bruschetta and the presentation alone made me not want to touch it because it was so damn beautiful!!!!!
It's nice to have a local joint here in town that remembers what it's like to treat their customers like family! I will definitely be going back! They also have AMAZING Lunch specials!!!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information
